Also, back at the beginning of season 6, when Clark visited Lois at the hospital, he held her hand but it was a bit awkward. She pulled her hand away and they both seemed embarrased. I think that kind of symbolize that they weren`t ready to get closer in terms of friendship and romance. Though, that soon changed later that season and 7.

Yes. Even though both situations are different, the hand heldings are very symbolic like people are saying. The CLANA one seemed to imply that their love was ceasing to exist and meant that it wasn`t meant to be forever. The CLOIS one on the other hand seem to imply friendship and love. Theirs seem to last forever.

I agree that the scenes are different however they are very symbolic of each of the relationships clark had with both these women.Tha clana had hold showed that throughout their relationship, she always let go, alwayssssssssss, in the clois relationship, Lois has always held on, even though she knows he has a secret and that's the difference, Clark is a confident man with Lois, with Lana he was always this puppy dog boy. Therefore the hand hold was very appropriate and symbolic!

the scenes are too different to be able to be to compare! but one can say that lana makes clark unhappy and limit idiot, whereas with lois it is more on him, more extremely!! I prefer by far the couple lois and clark!

While I have to agree with everyone about the situations being totally different, this brings up a valid point. There are barely any clips showing Clana holding hands throughout their entire relationship. This point by itself shows how much more comfortable Clois are than Clana

The only other scene I can remember Clana holding hands was in the truck in "whisper". I challenge people to find a scene other than the one shown in Reckoning and the one I mentioned in "Whisper". I'm genuinely curious.

well I have to say this two scence CAN'T be compared - its like you compare apples with pears...

In the Clana scene Clarks father died - he is full of grieve and blames himself for his death, and Lana is moving away to give him time to say goodbye to his father, which shows much respect to both I think.

In the Clois scence they are both in normal situations and a happy one. Thats a hole other situation....

As much as I hate Clana, I have to agree. In one scene Clark and Lana were at the end of their relationship and he was mourning his dad while in the other scene Clark and Lois are at the beginning of theirs. Too much had gone down in the Clana relationship at this point.

Let's analyze the visuals:

Despite the different circumstances, I think Clark needed someone holding his hand in that time more than ever, and Lana let go off him.

Lois reached for his hand, and he closed his fingers around, then the elevator door closing... telling, very telling imagery there.

You can compare the two girls but not the situations... But yeah. I do think Lana letting go was metaphorical. Personally, that was the end of the Clana relationship Smallville had built. From there she went to Lex and then even when they got together in s7, the fairy tale was gone. It was in this episode that their love died.

@Luckiegurll I agree with this. I am a Clana fan but when I was watching s5 I knew that if they were going to break them up, it should have been for the last time. No running to Lex, no getting back together in s7 and no s8 fiasco. Just end their relationship because in my opinion I liked them SO much more in s1-part of 5. Anything else was just unbearable to watch.

@MidnightAngelSelena I don't admit this very much but I liked Clark and Lana in the beginning. It's why I can watch the early season episodes and not hate her. I just have to try and not think about what comes later lol.
