OMG, looks like the captain left it until the last minute.
I sailed on her in 1996 when she was the CalMac ferry IONA. The clip at 1.20 was the reason why she was sold by CalMac - the gap between bow ramp and the car deck did not conform to the latest safety regs coming out at the time and it would have cost too much to make her compliant with the latest regs.
She has now been sold by Pentland Ferries and had just left the UK waters for a new career in the Cape Verde islands.
I loved this boat. She has retired from this crossing now but she was really rusty and listed to one side. she was great. She was the only boat I didn't feel seasick on, even in rough weather!!
I was on this boat on the Islay-Kennacraig run in April and it is in good condition for its age. I do not like the new catamaran at all and I will not travel on it.
@Inverdarroch88 :) I think I prefere the new catamaran cos there is more than 1 room!! I get seasick really easily and the smell of the food always made it worse!! :) I did like the Claymore tho!! :) Good Times!
i live next to it and they got rid of the captian and got a catermaran now called Pentilena not sure of spelling
