Revolving around an object indicates devotion. Muslims believe the whole universe is showing devotion and submission to the creator. Submission to an intelligent, powerful being can be indicated by accepted imposed order, or for human's, freely choosing order. Orbiting is a recognisable ordered state as compared to random wandering. Thee Kaaba is NOT God or divine, it is just a focus for our unity (of worship of the Creator of All). It is the direction/marker for our devotion, not the object.
