I must say quite the interesting response to "FF7 IS OVERRATED". Other then the fact you completely ignored his explanation, he uses ff6 as a compare and contrast along with a whole slew of other games not just 6. I personally think 7 is over hyped I grew up in what was consider the golden age of gaming during the snes, I do think ff6 is better and could always explain my reasons. I also think, scratch that, i know xenogears is an infinitely better game. I think 8 was better than 7 as well.

I got 6 for the GB Advance and PS1 and recently for the PS3 because I kinda temporarily lost the other 2. To be honest I found it kind of slow. I got up to the part where you choose whose path you want to follow. Are there any major plot twists or anything after that part? Or is it more of the same?
It ventured from the "emo" thing. Even though Cloud wasn't emo at all really. Unless you count the er... hysterical paralysis wheelchair thing. And the rhino horn hair. It's still my favourite though. Most likely due to it being my first RPG, other than Zelda which isn't really an RPG.
@riggermortisify from this ff6 fan my personnel opinion of 9 was it could have been better, i loved 8 gave 9 a try, and it was alright. It wasn't bad, i liked some aspects of the game, good visuals, decent story. An interesting clash of characters with challenge. But i also say it lacked in some areas that hurt it. Minimal world travel, weak summon system, a simple combat system that brought nothing new. Under used characters for plot purpose. Minimal replay value.

Hey ego it was a good video but I wanna say something. My first ff ever was actually 4, I couldn't beat it but I really liked it. First one I actually beat was 10-2 so I was confused as hell so played 10. ( loved it) then I attempted 8 n got lost as hell. Finally gave into the hype of 7 to admit it was freaking revolutionary n beat it. Beat 4 finally. Beat 8 finally ( loved it) beat 13 ( flawed but still amazing) attempted 9 n I like nothing bout it ( made it to 2 disc) n ima try 6 soon

@TheEgotasticRipoff This is why i think FF7 was so special because for its time was ground breaking graphics yet had the depth and brilliant characters of the 16bit generation. It got the balance just right. (also it wasnt cheesy squeeky clean happy happy crap like ff10 and ff13 like alot of the new games). After FF7 it started to slip down and down. FF6 was marvelous but i think ff7 was better.

Even then the game that still sticks with me is ff7. Any time something to do with it is released i get exited. I still go back and play it and i have bought merchandise too. It just really speaks to me and now with the "on the way to a smile", "Advent Children Complete" and "Crisis Core" its even deeper

@RapturousxPoet I was a huge fan of a lot of these games. Especially Chrono Trigger (though it was a bit too easy). I still have to admit that i prefer ff7. None of them sucked me into its world like ff7 did. ff7 had its own science, laws of biology and physics, theory of life, death and the planet. Especially now Square are filling in the gaps to unanswered questions in the story line making it even more indepth. Like "on the way to a smile" videos on youtube which have been kindly translated

now that's intresting you admit ff7 has gaps that's something most fanboys deny. The thing is why didn't square fill in the gaps with the original game? I liked ff7 at the time but never saw why everyone claimed it was the greatest the story was good but all the chasing of jenova and finding holy slowed it down alot. I like to compare ff7 to xenogears as they have a similar type of plot but xenogears filled in

@RapturousxPoet It was a bit of everything. Its a whole world to explore. Even the side quests and mini games were in depth. I think the story was just told well and the characters obviously play a huge part in that. I think they picked Cloud well. I think that maybe Cloud should have perhaps got over things in ACC rather than still being a little emo. It kinda feels like nothing was accomplished but his emo like chartacter was great for FF7 as it brought out the best of the other characters
@sy2pie I agree about the worlds and breeding chocobos that was fun. As for the cloud emo thing it does not really help you can understand why he was emo when Aeris dies but for the rest of the game it's like he's antisocial cause he does not know how to fit in or interact with others. I find that hard to like or relate to in a lead they should of made a side character emo & made the main lead want to understand himself rather than live zack's ideals. what would you like to see in a ff7 remake?
@RapturousxPoet Well i think thats what makes ff7 so good. Its different. Cloud is like the anti hero...he is confused and weak so has to over come himself before defeating the bad guy. He brings out the best in the other characters who often have to support him and help him on the way. Zack was such a typical hero for a game. The game wouldnt have been as good or as mysterious with him in charge. In fact i bet you would be sick of his squeeky clean up beat attitude in no time.

I think if they used Zack he would of changed after Aeris death though. Now compairing ff6 to ff7 what makes ff7 better apart from graphics? I think they should have either kept on with this or made it so Cloud was fixed and could move on to nailing Tifa. They have instead dragged it on to a point where he is still emotionally fucked but in a boring way...like an emo. However this is not ff7 but ff7 compilation. FF7 is a very special game and i honestly think a lot of people try and find faults or go against it simply because it is SO popular.

The only reason i watch the Final Fantasy 7 franchise is because i love the story so much. Crisis Core, Before Crisis and the Turk game (i forget its name) were pretty good. Advent Children Complete was amazing but most people havent seen it and jugde it by the original AC crap.

@RapturousxPoet I think Advent Children being rated as poor is entirely the fault of Square Enix. It should have been released as ACC. Shame because the different in quality is huge.

@RapturousxPoet as for FF7 flaws. I would say there were not many but what i think is the biggest problem with it is the materia system. I prefered the FF5 job system where you could train up a white mage to higher levels. Which i think is what you was talking about. However it was a new era for RPG's and they wanted to try something new. This was not as good but still had some fantastic points to it. Like being able to combine materia with 2 slots. It also fit into the story line well.

apart from materia problem I think maybe yuffie and cait sith could of done with some backstory or character development but that's about it. @sy2pie yea so true, iv played a lot of the other final fantasies, and theyre great, but the storyline and music of ff7 had me totally hooked. not only that but i dont know of any final fantasy with as many cool sidequests as 7 i mean chocobo breeding and racing, battle arena, yuffies sidequest, the weapons, its a truly exceptional game.

@sy2pie Maybe it's becuase it was released around the time ps2 was released and people wanted to play the new ps2 game more and maybe most people forgot ff9 exist but that's my guess. @solidvipersnake I think it got good enough credit. There wasnt much too it. It was a good light hearted game but it wasnt very in depth. The characters were not explored or in depth enough for me to give a shit about them. By the end i was glad i completed it but i was never left wondering what happened to the characters after. It was fun but nothing special.

FFVII is phenominal in my eyes (even with a few of its flaws), I love XIII, IX and XII as weird as that may sound, and FFVI...is overrated; granted, there are a ton of phenomenal moments in that game, but many of them are countered by a barrage of problems that include a hit-or-miss cast of characters, bugs (including a game-killer with Relm), coupious amounts of level grinding, etc. The rest of the series is pretty much hit-or-miss too. II, VIII and XIV are all total sh*t! Nothing good here.

I must say quite the interesting response to "FF7 IS OVERRATED". Other then the fact you completely ignored his explanation, he uses ff6 as a compare and contrast along with a whole slew of other games not just 6. It wasn't bad, i liked some aspects of the game, good visuals, decent story. An interesting clash of characters with challenge. But i also say it lacked in some areas that hurt it. Minimal world travel, weak summon system, a simple combat system that brought nothing new. Under used characters for plot purpose. Minimal replay value.

Hey ego it was a good video but I wanna say something. My first ff ever was actually 4, I couldn't beat it but I really liked it. First one I actually beat was 10-2 so I was confused as hell so played 10. ( loved it) then I attempted 8 n got lost as hell. Finally gave into the hype of 7 to admit it was freaking revolutionary n beat it. Beat 4 finally. Beat 8 finally ( loved it) beat 13 ( flawed but still amazing) attempted 9 n I like nothing bout it ( made it to 2 disc) n ima try 6 soon

@RapturousxPoet Well give me a list. I am not like most ff7 fan boys who have only played ff7 and onwards and never tried anything else. I have played a huge variety of RPG's in my time. Even then the game that still sticks with me is ff7. Any time something to do with it is released i get exited. I still go back and play it and i have bought merchandise too. It just really speaks to me and now with the "on the way to a smile", "Advent Children Complete" and "Crisis Core" its even deeper

@RapturousxPoet I was a huge fan of a lot of these games. Especially Chrono Trigger (though it was a bit too easy). I still have to admit that i prefer ff7. None of them sucked me into its world like ff7 did. ff7 had its own science, laws of biology and physics, theory of life, death and the planet. Especially now Square are filling in the gaps to unanswered questions in the story line making it even more indepth. Like "on the way to a smile" videos on youtube which have been kindly translated

@sy2pie Chrono trigger was my first rpg try the DS verison if you want a harder game.
now that's intresting you admit ff7 has gaps that's something most fanboys deny. The thing is why didn't square fill in the gaps with the original game? I liked ff7 at the time but never saw why everyone claimed it was the greatest the story was good but all the chasing of jenova and finding holy slowed it down alot. I like to compare ff7 to xenogears as they have a similar type of plot but xenogears filled in

@sy2pie all the gaps. Now what about ff7 sucked you in so much that you still love it even today? it was good for it's time but has not aged too well. I like the plot but my hunch is you will say the characters Cloud reminded me of shinji from evangelion the way they portrayed him I think it would have been better if he was more sure of himself I after playing crisis core I actualy wished they had made Zack the main character instead of cloud. As for the gameplay it's debatable.

@RapturousxPoet It was a bit of everything. Its a whole world to explore. Even the side quests and mini games were in depth. I think the story was just told well and the characters obviously play a huge part in that. I think they picked Cloud well. I think that maybe Cloud should have perhaps got over things in ACC rather than still being a little emo. It kinda feels like nothing was accomplished but his emo like chartacter was great for FF7 as it brought out the best of the other characters

@sy2pie I agree about the worlds and breeding chocobos that was fun. As for the cloud emo thing it does not really help you can understand why he was emo when Aeris dies but for the rest of the game it's like he's antisocial cause he does not know how to fit in or interact with others. I find that hard to like or relate to in a lead they should of made a side character emo & made the main lead want to understand himself rather than live zack's ideals. what would you like to see in a ff7 remake?

@RapturousxPoet Well i think thats what makes ff7 so good. Its different. Cloud is like the anti hero...he is confused and weak so has to over come himself before defeating the bad guy. He brings out the best in the other characters who often have to support him and help him on the way. Zack was such a typical hero for a game. The game wouldnt have been as good or as mysterious with him in charge. In fact i bet you would be sick of his squeeky clean up beat attitude in no time.

@sy2pie To a certain extent I liked the pshycological struggle where he looses control of himself several times & I wanted to see more backstory of cloud & maybe see him change towards the end.
I think if they used Zack he would of changed after Aeris death though. Now compairing ff6 to ff7 what makes ff7 better apart from graphics? I liked both games but found problems in both of them ff7 I like the twists in plot ff6 I like the skills each character has but I think people overhype both games

@RapturousxPoet Well this is it. I loved the emotional journey inside the mind of Cloud. I think they should have either kept on with this or made it so Cloud was fixed and could move on to nailing Tifa. They have instead dragged it on to a point where he is still emotionally fucked but in a boring way...like an emo. However this is not ff7 but ff7 compilation. FF7 is a very special game and i honestly think a lot of people try and find faults or go against it simply because it is SO popular.

maybe in a remake they could fix graphics and a few minor things like dialouge and the fact that you level up the materia and not the characters. No denying it's a Good game just people over praise it to the point that makes others hate it

The only reason i watch the Final Fantasy 7 franchise is because i love the story so much. Crisis Core, Before Crisis and the Turk game (i forget its name) were pretty good. Advent Children Complete was amazing but most people havent seen it and jugde it by the original AC crap.
Anyway we are talking about FF7,not the franchise.

@RapturousxPoet I think Advent Children being rated as poor is entirely the fault of Square Enix. It should have been released as ACC. Shame because the different in quality is huge.
I still cant understand why the turk game was not released with the psp too. Such stupid marketing.

@RapturousxPoet as for FF7 flaws. I would say there were not many but what i think is the biggest problem with it is the materia system. I prefered the FF5 job system where you could train up a white mage to higher levels. Which i think is what you was talking about. However it was a new era for RPG's and they wanted to try something new. This was not as good but still had some fantastic points to it. Like being able to combine materia with 2 slots. It also fit into the story line well.

apart from materia problem I think maybe yuffie and cait sith could of done with some backstory or character development but that's about it. I like the plot and everything else I would also say it's the mini games in all the towns that people enjoy so much about ff7. The ff before did not have as much. I know the obvious ff7 is your fav game what other games do you consider special?

Remember how good you felt when you put KOTR with Sneak Attack for the first time? lol.I think if you had to list the faults to ff6 they would be greater than FF7's, Though im aware the bad guy from 6 ended up accomplishing more than Sephiroth.
Some of my fav RPG games have to be the FF series before FF7. Chrono Trigger, the secret of mana...X gears. Breath of fire was ok.

@sy2pie yea so true, iv played a lot of the other final fantasies, and theyre great, but the storyline and music of ff7 had me totally hooked. not only that but i dont know of any final fantasy with as many cool sidequests as 7 i mean chocobo breeding and racing, battle arena, yuffies sidequest, the weapons, its a truly exceptional game.

Especially when us FF7 fanboys are so obsessive and over the top to the point of insanity. It ends up causing huge resentment and results in videos like this! lol...! However though i consider myself a FF7 fanboy i like to think myself as the more dignified and reserved ones which goes on logic and truth rather than obsession and insecurity.

Maybe if square just reamde ff9 for the ps2 like they wanted to along with ff7 and some other game (forgot the title) it would have gotten the respect it deserved.

@solidvipersnake I think it got good enough credit. There wasnt much too it. It was a good light hearted game but it wasnt very in depth. The characters were not explored or in depth enough for me to give a shit about them. By the end i was glad i completed it but i was never left wondering what happened to the characters after. It was fun but nothing special.

FFVII is phenominal in my eyes (even with a few of its flaws), I love XIII, IX and XII as weird as that may sound, and FFVI...is overrated; granted, there are a ton of phenomenal moments in that game, but many of them are countered by a barrage of problems that include a hit-or-miss cast of characters, bugs (including a game-killer with Relm), coupious amounts of level grinding, etc. The rest of the series is pretty much hit-or-miss too. II, VIII and XIV are all total sh*t! Nothing good here.

Jesus, it sucks that the first FF game I ever played and then I happen to come across FFVII for $20 other than faggots who sell it for $200.
If anything, I would love to see a recreation of ANY of the FF games 1-6 (not 4 because it has enough AND I don't have a DS. Plus the story looked like something from Dragon Quest) to see what really makes these games more "Final Fantasy" than any fanboy can describe FFVII.
