Cloud believed he WAS Zack. After Zack's death, Cloud wanted to continue the life that Zack never had, but it got fused with his own life. Therefore when Cloud brought up memories that weren't his own but were Zack's, he began doubting his memories and himself.

It's a very complicated storyline. You have to have really understood the PS1 game to understand the whole plot.

Wow! I never thought of that, loss of sleep can cause sleepwalking. Some guy in NE killed his mother-in-law, he wasn't convicted because he didn't realize what he was doing. It might also explain why it was so easy for Cloud to beat him, he just wasn't awake until he got stabbed. His "How dare you", well, Cloud was under his command, and backstabbing a superior officer is not considered playing nice. It's a thought.

I think it'd be interesting to have Lightening be Jenova only have like amnesia or something like that and you find out who she really is at the end of the game. That'd be interesting I think. Why Vincent didn't shoot Hojo as soon as Lucrecia ran into his arms, I'll never know! I personally would've shot him right after Sephiroth was born, take him forcibly away from Gast, then give him back to Lucrecia. Now she got to see and hold her OWN SON!! Damn Hojo the Hobo!

I think the famous Sephy-in-front-of-flames shot was Zack's P.O.V. But the line between what Zack saw and what Cloud saw got very blurry in FFVII.

BTW about his hair not catching fire - we've seen Seph stop fire like 4 times (fighting Ifrit, fighting Genesis when Genesis encased him in that big fireball, when Genesis used the firespell in the Nibel reactor, and lastly walking thru the flames after the massacre). Nerd moment: either he's got the fire armlet or the fire ring equipped, or the elemental-fire combo in his armor or (as I'd like to think) he's just so badass at this point that no elemental attacks affect him anymore.

Sephiroth's one of my favourite charecters ever created.. but what I hate is how bluntly he went mad. He was so strong-minded and then suddenly he goes absolutely nuts. I think the Jenova cells must have ended up controlling him. It couldn't have been just pure rage that made him want to suddenly destroy the world.
