Have you ever even read A Christmas Carol? There are small things in the book that are not in most adaptations. The one that comes to mind is that Scrooge had a sister who died and that was part of caused his hatred of Christmas. Not in most versions, it's in the new one though. Not the Muppet one, but the Muppet one for most of the movie has the most dedicated dialogue to the original book.
