you have potential to be a good singer, make sure you hold the notes out enough, and if you put a finger on one ear when you sing, it's easier to hear if you're in tune.

if you start off with a song that has a very simple strumming pattern and easy to remember chords like Good Riddance or Wonderwall and just keep playing/singing them until you can do both it will come naturally from there on. well thats how i taught myself to do it anyway...
