im not from pakistan, but i am pakistani, pakistan telecom is now offering 50 mbps it just goes to show a corrupt and third world country has better infrastructure then a first world country,
BT fucking suck! Im tired of My connection cutting off 24/7 my friends also have this problem aswell.Today my connection must of cut off 10 times today.
i had an engineer around my house and it turns out that they had a restriction put on my download speed and now it is only 50kb a second when i am lucky.
ok.......guys.....you have to pay line rental regardless of what you have on your line.....every company charged you line rental of about 13.50 (bt's is 13.90) then THE PRICE OF THE BROADBAND IS ADDED ON THE TOP......also it's about the speed of your line which cant be changed so if your line is capable of 15 meg and you only have option 1 then you will recieve 8...but if you can only recieve 5 meg and go from option 1 to option 2 you will still only get 5 meg...stop complaining as i get 19.5
I signed up for an 19.95 broadband package and ended up paying 43 quid a month! When asked the operator why paying so much they told me: Dear sir this is done just in case if something happens and suddenly you go crazy and ring Hawaii for 2 days, then we got your money covered. I was like, 'excuse me?' I want to pay only for what I use!
The answer:T'hat's impossible sir, we will always charge you more "just in case"
At that point I said "ok then, so now pls cancell my contract"
Also, you upgraded your download LIMIT, the amount of data you can download, not the speed, AND most third world countries are only now developing and so use newer fiber optics, instead of the copper wire the UK has used for decades, BT wholesale are now rolling out fiber optics across the country. And, Yes this is your experience, no lies, no exposure, absolute truth... Of a man with no knowledge of reading small print and how broadband works.
Continued, the line from the exchange to your house, doing whatever it takes to improve your speed, you may need a new router, filters, socket, dropwire etc... As for your speedtest results, you have a hot VP (virtual path) at the exchange, again a call to BT they will check the results of your speedtest on their system and raise your fault to BTwholesale to have the fault corrected at the exchange. As for your neighbour, the have cable, not ADSL2. Read up before you order next time.
I have an engineer coming around on Wednesday at their suggestion with the promise that there wont be a charge. At the moment i am at least able to use BT FON from home all be it at a slow speed. i have about 4 months left of my contract with them then i'm out of it
I got rid of BT a while ago, they are horrendous and there customer service is a joke.
The last time I had a conection like that was 10 years ago, on a 56k dial up modem, brrrrrr the horrible dark days of dial up. Makes my 6.3 mbps download speed seem pretty amazing now.
Ditto am stuck at 6.5MB even though I should get 9MB am paying for 20MB and now apparently broadband has gone down due to a problem at there end so now when it is on after 2 days waiting I get 0.05mb, I would sub for virgin media but I know what there policies on censorship are.
Videos don't load , pages keep reloading , lag stops Java working ,they give better deals to new customers and take the money from the loyal customers to fund it.
They have gone way below the 'Cap' for the contract (Eg 1kbs Speed).
im on bt broadband/bt vision and bt phone hub, its an absolute crock of shit.
slow isnt the word, the phone is not fit for purpose and bt vision works when it feels like it. i wouldnt touch bt with a bargepole again, but are any of the other companies any better?? none of them give a damn about customer service anymore do they???
to add, they are rolling out one gigabit broadband to residential but the fact is - what is the point ? torrents / downloads are going to be banned. MP3's from itunes ? what, you can't wait 3 seconds longer on your existing connection ?
it's a farce especailly when many people use wifi at home - you can't get anywhere near that on wifi - you can't even get 100 mb download speeds
I'm with Virgin, and I live quite remotely so I have had to live with speeds of about 2mbps (2048 kbps) for about 3 years now, and I don't understand it! My nearest broadband exchange is a mere 1.5 miles away and my broadband contract states "upto 20 mbps", however, I discovered on samknows . com that this exchange doesnt support virgin, only BT, and the nearest after that is 3 miles away, and even that doesnt support virgin. Yet the salespeople at virgin never tell you this of course!
@dummyspitter same here they want 185 quid to supply me a mac code to change isps im on an 18month contract supposedly unlimited and iv been caped to 1meg
So to conclude, for those thinking of signing up, the phrase “up to 20mb” really means “definitely above 0.7mb but nowhere near 20mb, probably around 7mb to begin with and gradually slowing down thereafter as we continue to make money by misselling and overselling and thus, clog up our network even further. If it’s not blatant fraud, then it’s as close as it could possibly get to it.
in other words, if the speed is anything above this, their suppliers can turn around and basically say “so what, it’s down to line quality/contention ratio/network stability etc, don’t bother us again, tell the customer to be satisfied...”.
They initially denied this was happening only to change their minds following hours of phone calls between me, tech support and their wholesalers and suppliers. It has just happened again (now getting 2.2mbps) and I’m now being told by their tech support that the fault threshold for the line is 0.7mbps.
Signed up to their "Business-Option 2" service a year ago after moving house. Supposedly up to 20mb and unlimited. I never took the 20mb seriously and was happy enough with between 7 and 9mbps for the first few months since this is what I had been getting before and was also what their specific line test confirmed the line was capable of. Since last winter, my connection has been "banded" (throttled) on three occasions for no apparent reason.
BT Stitched Me up too, after continually getting charged "excess usage" on Option 2 I was told by BT that what I needed was their Option 3 UNLIMITED package, I took them at their word & since then, BT have "Throttled" my broadband EVERY SINGLE MONTH this has almost gone on for a whole year now, the package was clearly mis-sold to me
i remember when bt phoned us telling me that our download speed was being reduced to 1mb a second, seriously??? i dont know anyone with BT who gets over 300KB/s download speed... pricks
I pay £18.59 and only get 2M. Use to get 4M but BT decided to downgrade the line to 2M for no apparent reason. Rather that fight it, I will just change to Virgin and the first opportunity.
@sjuas690 Virgin are great if you don't mind appalling customer service and overcharging. By all means try them, but be warned. After I left Virgin, I had a grovelling letter of apology in which they admitted they failed to provide the service they should have done. With BT I get 5.7mbps at just about any time of day and no such customer service problems so far. I'm not saying Virgin won't be better for you, they might. But look before you leap.
I just had a look on the BT site and tried the checker, it said my maximum speed I can get is 3mbps! Right now i'm getting 6.1mbps, still slower than what my ISP said BUT, that is the highest speed my phone line can handle, and who provides the phone line? BT! Plus i'm over 2km from my phone exchange. Hopefully BT will soon run the new 21CN fibreoptic lines down my road
@Woshmistro Yes, BT Infinity should give Virgin some serious competition when it becomes more widespread. It's cheaper than Virgin, and has a 10mbps upload speed compared to the 1.5mbps on Virgin's 50mb service.
You are 100% right on everything you have said in your video... I have contaced so many people who are using bt broadband and no1 is getting a speed that they are paying for and YES anyone who can get VIRGIN MEDIA BROADBAND should get it ASAP...
you are right, you don't get what the speed you subscribe. It just like buying a car that shows u can drive it up to 200km/h but can u do it? The data you pull, is not provided by BT, but by someone else, who may not having the speed to send it to you. So why complaint?
In my experience with BT you never pay what they advertise, it's always more. I'm with Virgin for my broadband, but signed with BT for an all day, any day phone service. In theory this meant I should pay £12.50 per month provided my outgoing calls are under an hour (can redial) and I'm tied into this for 12mths. Immediately, the rate went up to over £15; now I'm paying about £25. I can't get out of this; but they can change the deal to suit them!
and im with bt whenever the phine gets picked up the internet cuts out completely they are wankers
