if this show were on today, they would not only show the contestant's disappointment, but have audience members come up on stage to point, mock, and ridicule the contestant.
Sometimes Geoff would do just that making the contestant look like a real sucker. One time a constestant won some dough - no, not cash - but real bread dough.
"I'm sorry bit the correct codes for the top prize were 00008935601, 00008876992, 000099890055, and Z4-00310390990. Sorry, but we have a lovely collection of consolation prizes for you. Have a great trip back to Tulsa!"
If I brought back this show, I would have a $1,000,000 top prize in one of 25 boxes, I would have men AND women play instead of just women (the only reason they forbade men to play is because they were too scared!), and I would have Ty Treadway host. Also, I would also have klunks that are less stupid. After getting klunked, he contestant would receive a $1,000 savings bond as a consolation prize.
When did the stop issuing $500 bills in American currency. I remember this show, but don't remember seeing $500 bills. They need to bring them back. We need them now to make paying for gas easier!
Well, actually, that's the same sound played if the check is found and not sold along with balloons and confetti falling and a marching band song. To be honest I got scared by this as a little kid--now whenever that pops up I can't help but go crazy!
I remember a classic episode of treasure hunt from the 80's verison. You remember that jamaican lady that won the $50,000 check. Does anybody have that video because I really want to see that video, cause it was funny as hell. She destoryed that box & geoff. Let me know if sombody has it.
This show was so much better than Deal or No Deal. I love in this clip the little teaser for "The Rifleman - Next". Also, what was the name of the guy who appeared at the beginning of the show who hid the check?
Damn...you just took me back to my childhood...I used love this show...just goes to show that nothing is new anymore on TV, especially American TV...all the shows are remakes or ripoffs of overseas hits!
What happened is that a contestant got a deal of over $200,000 and found out that the million dollars was in her case. I did watch that episode and it was something else.
I LOVED this show!

Geoff Edwards sure had a angry look at his face when he waved the $1800 card up and said to Henrietta, "$1800 is a lot of money..."

I know $1,800 is a lot of money in 1975, but when she saw the check, she looked like an absolute jackass.

They stop using the $500 Bill on July 14, 1969.

$25,000 in 1975 would be worth more than $400 billion today...shame.

Gong Show.

I miss this show! I can't figure out why they don't show it on GSN. But that SOUND EFFECT when she loses is HORRIBLE! It's like a nuclear warning!
