What people fail to realize is that Buckethead speaks through the guitar- he's a virtuoso in the truest of forms, and his music is like Beethoven for the guitar.

Slash is a fantastic guitarist, and wrote great riffs and solos.

The real question everyone SHOULD be asking is why Robin Finck was allowed to butcher any part of the solos?

Buckethead wanted to push music ahead and he became a very unique virtuoso. So his music really only gets around to musicians. his songs are just mind blowing but an average teenager wouldn't buy his album because its to hardcore and isn't quite as popular as songs you can sing along to

OK, I understand you like him the best, but technique-wise you have to be objective. Using "the best guitarist there is" should be as objective as possible, so you should take into account their technique, number of good songs, variety of solos, different lineups etc. And in my opinion, from the point of view of the techniques used and the variety of riffs and solos, Slash isn't even among the 10 best guitarists, but Buckethead might just be. But you're right, it's no exact science.
