Yeah- Disney was really hoping this would catch on since they thought they'd make a mint off multiple plays. Any DIVX disc could be disabled at any time as well, so if they decided to put a movie on moratorium or discovered naughty things hidden in it, they could render all existing copies unplayable. For once, the public rejected a stupid technology though.
i guess DIVX didnt last long, lol

Beleived it or not, it took 4-5 years for DVD to drop under 199$. Bought mine for 800$ in 1997 at launch ;)

God I hated that format! (at least the MP4 codec baring the name does a better job of being playable on most current DVD players)
