"I hold closed his eyes on my zipper"??? WTF ?? I. LOVE.THIS. SONG.
We knew very little about our European releases, much less any royalties due to us... It's unfortunate, but the "innocents" being ripped off was a fact of life then. We were too young to know, and too naive to think those we trusted were taking advantage of us.... Even though we received no royalties, I am thankful our music is still around and appreciated by all who post comments. Thank you very, very much! ~ Wayne Proctor
I think most of the small bands around the globe had the same problem. I doing research on belgian psych and beat bands and i hear the same stories everywhere. I never found a trace of Delphine but i always heard she came from the french part of Belgium. If someone has some info, please get in touch!!
And Mr Proctor, thanks for giving us one of the best songs ever!!!
Ronny
PS: is that instrument in the intro a guitar or a autoharp?
@elsuperfreak "Delphine didn't obtain permission from us to record it, however. It's a long story, but their laws are different from the US & difficult to "police." However, I am still astonished, that she (& others) wanted to record our stuff. In other words, even though no royalties are paid, I'm thankful the legacy continues. Thanks again to all who love our sound enough to record, play, and listen to us even now.You make me smile!"- Wayne Proctor, We the People
did we the people allow their backing track to be used for this? I'm guessing so but I don't really see them ever talking about it anywhere in interview or anything.
Actually, a Belgian singer from Brussels (it seems; I'm not sure). But that's all I know about her. It's a cover from We The People's 'In The Past', an American garage-psych band from the 60s.

Merci

LA fermeture eclair, not LE. Zipper is female in French.

Well yeah, that's true. So I take it you didn't like the record. By the way, the word "zipper" doesn't even exist in English.

I think you mean 'cette chanson', but I'm just learning the language so I could be wrong.

This is my brother's 1960's band, We The People, playing the music. Where are the royalties?? My brother wrote this song!

We The People and Delphine where released in Europe on the same label ( Decca) so probably royalties where paid. Never trust your manager!!!

Excuse my poor English :
for infos, this is "we the people" themselves who plays behind DELPHINE on this version.
The band was under contract in France in the mid sixties for recording few singles and french versions of their music.
So, royalties has been payed !

Though technically not quite a cover, as "Le Fermeture Éclair" is sung over the very same backing track as that on "In The Past".

Artifact of obscurity. The music has more punch with her singing (at least in my headphones). Thanks for posting.
