@vespasianlegx11 Dragon. I think there are a few live releases of Nik's where it's listed as Dragon Rider, and Nik himself confirmed this in an interview I read. He liked to keep things mysterious, if I remember correctly.
For me, space ritual/space is deep, highrise into pxr5, warriors on the edge of time, and this track are not only hawkwinds finest moments, but among musics finest moments.
I may be old and grumpy but i almost take pleasure in the fact that most people havent ever heard a hawkwind track, bar silver machine!.. It makes me feel lucky!
@stonersid Im 24 and heard many hawkwind records after being introduced years ago to them by my uncle. I even watched nik turner in concerttwo weeks ago and i know exactly how you feel as they have written some of the best music ive ever heard yet most people of my age have never heard of silver machine never mind anything else theyve done. Thats half the appeal for me though. What about you?
Been a major Hawkwind fan since 1980. Seen them 40+ times live, video'd them at least a dozen times, but this album, and especially this track is (IMO) Hawkwind's finest hour. It is the album I always come back to. I still play it every other week at least - after all this time! There's not a weak spot on the entire LP. It can't really be classified as a concept album - in fact it needs a clssification all of it's own. It flows seemlessly from the start, to the fading of Paradox at the end!

even tho i luv the way it builds up i just can't get used to turner's vocal style. he sounds like an oxford don or catholic priest trying to be mick jagger or summat. i duno. like his songs tho. just not his voice.
Perhaps my favourite bit of Lemmy's bass playing .. wonderful.. so inventive,
great fun to play too, Hawkwind at their 'Hippiest' stage i'm sure. makes me proud to be an English Musician too. a superb soundscape, dreamy and imaginitive.. the lyrics are so odd and other-worldly, like a adventure in middle-earth. they dont make 'em like this anymore. Hawkwind are epic and so underrated, i guess imagination is'nt just trendy anymore. Pure Genius and inspired. Thankyou Hawkwind
A 5 star song: D-Rider - Hawkwind [England] - 1974 - "This is one of their BEST spacey Psychedelic Rock songs that that will make you glad you bought this CD." - Hall Of The Mountain Grill (UK Bonus Tracks) (EMI)-2001.
WOW this must be my best memory of Hawkwind.....circa 1974 I did some blotter and walked with friends in the snow for so long. The snow was blue and the sky was vivid pink. What a perfect song for the time I had! RIP Bob. Dave and Lemmy lives on!!!!!!!!!!!!
that is a sweet song. I have this promo disc for it which has a shortened edit of this tune and "Psychedelic Warlords," "Hall of the Mountain Grill," and "Wind of Change."
I grew up listening to this song as kid of the 1970's. The entire album is great. If you have never heard of Hawkwind. This album is the one you want to play over and over again. :)
look up the harvestman cover of this song its way rad!!

I love the phase. To me, that along with the mellotron, is THE sound of that era.
Big shame is that there is hardly a mellotron that survived from that time. I should have got one when I was a kid.

appeals to me, cos in the early to mid 80s, i spent many a summers night flying outside my own reasoning :O))
