Stephen Bruton was a SOUL Songwriter extrordinare. I was a KK fan way back before Bobby McGee for the same reason, and often wondered what had happened to the young lead player in his band. I didn't find out until Stephen had passed ... and after tasting just 1 tune went out and bought all 5 of his albums which have remained going around on my iPod ever since. Such an crafted poet ... such an honest soul ... such an inspiring guitar player. Thanks for posting this ... we ask 4 more.
We had finished playing the set and Stephen ask to sing one more ...it was Don't Put No Tombstone On My Grave. we had played this together before but that night was different. this was the last time I will ever get to play with one of the greatest songwriters ever. thanks for putting this up Lindsay. the loss is incredible . and I got to play drums on this with Dave and Lewis and Stephen and I think Randy on bass. The Christmas Allstars at the Aardvark in Ft.Worth. Wow!
