the chunky power chords fit in with what Lou said about the band being their version of metal. this band was sort of a transition of metal from the 80s to alternative rock in the 90s w/ some punk influences thrown in the bag. you can hear the metal influence often in J.'s rhythm playing but especially in songs like "mountain man" and "sludgefeast" so they don't seem so out of place at a metal festival like they participated in in '05
