So, this is such an awsome song to look back upon. My first year in Vocal and we wheresinging this. Just to clariffy, we had 2 high sop 2 low sop (4 sop in all) then altos we had , 3 in total. 2 high altos and nat as the only low. 2 tenors, and 1 beritone, and 3 basses. Thats a total of 11 ppl singing here Now if this dont sound fantastic w/ 11 ppl singing, then idk what does. Im so proud of all they did, and how high they ranked in the comp. Im still mad that i couldnt go :P
We had, if I remember, only 4 altos. The reason our sopranos are so overpowering is because they're all classically trained and are used to having that full sound.
But even with numbers being the way they might be, balance is a major factor in having a nice, rich sound. The middle voices are just as important as the high and low. No offense, but maybe the altos could bring their sound up a little fuller as well. But overall, I think the choir sound very good! :)
You guys sound pretty decent! One thing I gotta say though (I dunno if it was because of the acoustics in that church or whatever), but your altos are just not prominent enough. I don't know how many altos you had, but their sound was just getting BURIED by the sopranos. BTW, the sopranos could also back off just a bit....but overall, a pretty good job!
Great job choir!!! I only have one thing to say... The tenors need not to sing crescendo when the entire choir sings the more exciting part. The should start out strong and loud not start out weak and soft and work their way up. My choir is singing this song this year.
You go! I am an AHS Vocal Alumni (class of '90) and am really impressed. I am so happy that the tradition of fantastic vocal music is still alive even though Gour has moved on. I hope some of the other traditions are still around (like singing the a cappella Star Spangled Banner driving through the gates returning after a performance on the outside...don't know why but it started long before we got there...).
You guys sound amazing! Congrats to you and your director!
Why do I look so angry?!
