actually, she wears the bandanna to acknowledge the gay community. Back in the 70's an individual would wear a bandanna, mostly in their back jean pocket to show their pride. Brandi wears this as a way of paying homage to those who paved the way. just a tidbit of info you might want to know.
ps. i don't doubt that the use of color helps to jazz up her photos.
I wish I knew the significance of the red bandana - she wears it A LOT. I always think it's nice when performers have something like that - but I want to know the story. I also REALLY want to know the story behind this song! For me it's very personal and fitting to my own life, but I'm sure it is all different in reality.
It's wonderful to see and hear the evolution of this song, how it has changed over the years and became the masterpiece that we hear on the album Live at Benaroya Hall... is a shame that only a few people recognize the strength of this magic and powerful song! Brandi on stage singing this song is simply perfect... I'm proud of you!
This is, in my mind, Brandi's best.......Incredible. I simply don't undersand why she doesn't get more exposure........She is the best young artist of today.....She's at her best with the Twins and Allison Miller on the drums.....
@rozzie8937 Sometimes singers - like Neko Case for example - prefer to make music in a way that maintains intimacy with the audience. It's a recognition that real "art" doesn't happen with the just the performer, the receiver is also part of the equation and synthesizes what is being heard into their own recognition and experience. Anonymity is required for making music this way and I'll bet she wouldn't have it any other way.
genius singer/songwriter: incredible voice, amazing lyrics,... she's the best :)

Weird. Stevie Ray Vaughan played this exact same stage. For a moment i thought she'd be covering Stevie's Pride and Joy.

She started wearing the bandanna because in a photo shoot the photographer told her she needed more color. Usually her outfits are completely black.

Brandi Carlile doesn't need color to brighten this world... She does that by being one of the most incredible singer/songwriters ever!
