i have the little brother to that bike, almost, a XT125x, i can go offroad with so the tires is'nt a problem :) i planning to buy the XT660x next summer when i get the legal age for the bigger bikes here in sweden ;)
lycka till bro! before you buy it take a look at the aprilia pegaso trail...i bought a used KTM 640, it has more power but it cots a lot, and the service is killing me...the pegaso trail is cheap as the xt and is much better off road, better brakes and looks pretty good...though its heavier and not as flexible as the xtx...
The ground clearance is higher for dakar and KTM and softer suspension. Easy to lift the front fork and much more power and better brakes than the xt. The dakar has ABS, useless off road, but the KTM brembo's do the work. I havent driven the aprilia pegaso. the xt is much more cheapier and more reliable though...
well the xt is much more better than the rest, heavier but also lower so it feels ligher.drivers position closer to the steering, providing a better and more aggressive driving, better habling in cutting curves, easy fish tails. more power tha the dakar. BUT the front wheel of the ktm 640 is much more bigger makes it easieer to drive on hard teraing,
i want a good reliable off/on motorcycle, i have testdrived the BMW dakr650, the ktm 640 adventur and off course the XR. I need to testdrive the newXT. BMW is weak, and everybody says that ktmare not reliable..I have to see the new aprilia pegaso trail as well. thx for the reply ice.
hope i will help you, xt is a good machine with a good torque, goes 280-300 km with 15 litres (full tank), 175 kmh max speed, vibration isnt so bad. Just the exhaust manifolt going under the engine is silly, you have to buy a engine guard for offroad riding..
i think off buying one of this or a XR 650...i think i go with the XR bad technology and bad comfort bad much better off the road and very powerfull...what do you say guys?
i have never rode a XR 650, but xt660 is a good adventure machine, and also have a better seat. 2in1 exhaust system can make it a better off-road machine.
At last someone has posted a video of an XT without playing music over it. Also great to see that it is capable of more than just road riding.

thanks. yes, this XT has standart exhaust pipes. my bike is 2005 model and stock.

Does that Xt has standard exhaust pipes? It sounds like you removed the Db killer. Cool bike, im buying the XT660X this month.
