  • my course is this friday, doing it in belfast with get-licensed. cant wait

  • God help the security industry !

  • iv just finished my 4 day course today, and andrew russell who taught me was great. and with it being my first time going in security, i was quite shocked how much he taught me in the 4 days i was there even though iv had no clue about security in the past, dont get me wrong its not easy. i had people there who were renewin there badge and telling me it was easy and a piece of cake and not to worry, on the 4th day they were telling me how shocked they were and how intense it was and not easy

  • @wishmastermaker Hey, I'm wondering. Do you have to be in good shape to get an SIA licence or even before you apply for training?

  • @Demagix1 no not at all lol, anyone can do it, it helps to be fit and healthy dont get me wrong, but it definatly would'nt stop you getting licenced,

  • Hello, has anyone received their results for door supervisor exam ? I am waiting 2 months still not receiving answer.

  • It is imperative that every student has at the end of the course a predominate working knowledge of controlling a subject from stand up to take down control and restraint techniques and to defend yourself in threatening scenarios to extraction phase.

  • Everything about this course is damage limitation for you and the person being escorted out and we will provide each student with the ability to perform each technique and to avoid using strength and head on collisions by using Subject Control Scenarios and N V C.

  • You can move a strong man by joint manipulation. That is the very point of why a joint lock works because it is an anatomical attack, that is pure technique over strength. It works regardless of muscle because it is an attack on a joint - a weak spot.

  • i can see you have broght your po skills to the course dont get me wrong ive set up my onw course and it unique, none pain and compliance techniques dont work in the real world ie people on drugs or drunk Break-Away / Disengagement Techniques work well and Effective Defence against Grabs, Strangles and Chokes and holds which is standard from a PO,Make best use of body language, listening and oral N-V-C.

  • It’s a simple yet effective self defence system that emphasises instinctive movements, practical techniques, and realistic training subject scenarios SIA covers none just in it for the money.

  • I am level 2 SIA and first worked the doors in the early 80s and let me tell you that if the holds and locks are done properly, they WILL hold 100%, practise makes perfect guys. The SIA is now 6 days and it's intensive and a lot can be forgotten after getting your badge, so help each other and practise on each other at leaste once a week. Of course it is neccessary to train to obtain the edge, be it kick boxing or whatever, but restraint is the name of the game now and it's a good thing

  • I'm an SIA Security Officer and I was taught by doormen who'd been on the doors for many years and they were also SIA licensed. They had to show us the SIA locks etc, but they said, in the real world the locks wouldn't work. The best advice they told us was to learn a martial art, and then when such an event happen when you may need to put someone in a lock, you first try the SIA lock and if that's unsuccessful (will be), use a martial arts lock; that's allowed.

  • the certificates dont run out, or if your not sure ask your awarding body mate, but now, you need physical intervention training, hope it helps

  • how long does it last the certificate just did mine today cant remember
