  • The cool thing about this video is that

    1) It looks like they were using the canal in some capacity in 1917.

    2) Many of the bldgs and locks in this video are still there.....+1 for preservationists

  • Super fantastic!! I biked the entire 184.5 miles from Georgetown to Cumberland in 1997-and shot video (and narrated the history) from my bike seat while riding! I'll be editing the footage into a "documentary" eventually. A small sample can be found on my channel. As spectacular as the Paw Paw Tunnel is, it was the expense of completing it that caused the canal to struggle from day 1. Took 3 different contractors!
