I have to get a bone graft next week. By the way, I have a flipper right now. I was really scared at first, but actually, it's not bad at all! The only problem is the flipper after the bone graft. I can't get my implants
Can you believe that was from fracturing my jaw simply because I ran into a pole while I was riding a bike? Weird- Really hard dealing with a jaw fracture.
Maybe if you do have some pain, it might just be because the bone is growing. I don't know, but it's what I think.
Had this surgery for all my teeth b'coz there was 80%bone loss. i still have lot of sensitivity and pain even after 10 days. dr. says it'll take at least 3 months for the pain to go away completely. if anyone has got this surgery done pl. tell me what to expect post surgically. # 7 and 8 which had a little mobility are still mobile even after the bone graft. is it normal? i have stopped trusting my dentist!!!
Gotta have this done in 2 days. They are pulling out teeth #7 and #8 because the root canals failed after I was in a car accident 2 years ago. I'm freaking out. My teeth look great, but the dentist said, "It's what's going on inside that's the problem." I was hoping to have immediate dental implant loads with temporary crowns but was told by my surgeon that I have too much bone loss so I'll have to have a bone graft. For 4-5 months I have to wear a "flipper" and I am nervous as hell.
@boxingaddict25 - Oh and by the way my oral surgeon told me he will be using cadaver, donor bone for the graft. I was like, "Uh, okay." The worst part about my case is that I was told that I may not be a candidate for dental implants. We'll have to wait and see how the bone graft works, but apparently sometimes it fails. In that case, I'm not sure what my other options are. Imagine having really nice looking teeth, and being told that two of your front ones have to be pulled. I'm losing my mind.
I recently had an implant (upper left incisor) and wear a temporary denture, but its OK. Should be ready for the implant in 2 months. My upper right incisor where I had a big infection has significant bone loss, this will need a significant block bone graft before the implant, but this won't happen until a year or so from now, but I'm cool with this also. Just take it one step at a time, you'll be fine.
No you should not. It is actually a good sign. It means your wounds are closing up and healing. I had one in June of this year. and a second one yesterday. My stitches are starting to feel lose already. I called and that's what they told me. Just dont play around with them with your tongue. You want them to come out on their own or by your Doctor.

they used bone from my jaw, I was really happy since it was no longer oral surgery, but just regular surgery. so my insurance covered it.
