If you know enough to ask this question, you already know the answer.
Its got a click tuner, no remote control and no inputs or outputs. Add to this just one problem (no matter how simple) which prevents it from functioning and tell me what you have.
That's called a turret tuner. I'm not too lazy to get up and change the channel. It has one input; it's called a coax jack, it can be used with a modulator to accommodate DVD players, etc. You HAD a collectible TV set, regardless of its value to yourself.
The video was shot in the late eighties. It wasnt a collectible then, it was a piece of junk that no one at that time would give you 2 bucks for. If you would like to stop by I have a P-100 in good working order which is destined to become a collectible (some day). Since you clearly have the time, the space and the affection for unserviceable or out of date electronics, I'd like you to have it.
chevick: TVs contain hazardous materials (large quantities of lead, phosphorous, cadmium, barium, and mercury).
When the TV screen was shattered, the lead-bearing particles became an airborne hazard. If you breathed in even a small amount, then you have lead poisoning.
Over a period of time, you may develop respiratory, pneumonitis, and neuropsychiatric problems.
I knew about airborne hazards even then. I was a good distance away. Only the camera was close. Besides, I also knew about the hazards of flying debris. Thanks...
I have worked in TV repair and let me just say you don't know what you are talking about.
The picture tube is one of the most easily diagnosed and repaired problems you could experience in a television. It just so happens that at the time when the video was shot it was usually not worth repairing due to costs. Today of course it is never worth repairing because for the cost of the repair, you could buy a better TV.
I got a 40+ old RCA TV thats got a 97 Watt sub woofer (yes, it was hacked) and it's missing some of it's screws. It's color and sounds GREAT!!! No problems at all with my grampa!!
even then, when the tube dies, you can get it replaced. I'm not saying that wouldn't cost a fortune, I'm just saying it's possible lol... nothing is un-fixable, you just gotta know how to fix it.
dang, wish i had a gun when i did mine!

If you know enough about televisions to know what horizontal/vertical deflection is, then why didn't you fix it??

Except that's not a real model number, methinks.

Seriously I do have it. I would give it to a good home...I collect too much stuff the way it is.

If you've got a way to get it to me for free or really cheap, I'll be more than happy to take the set. I am so broke. DX

Wish I did. I'm in northeastern Pennsylvania.

you dont have to fix it to sell it to a collector. It just has to LOOK good on the outside

How much will it cost to fix?
AmericanFabricator 4 years ago 2
I suppose it would more have been a matter of locating parts. It had a problem with horizontal deflection.

Why did you destroy the nice TV? You could to bring it in a museum, or put it in your room for a small table...

silly americans...shooting at a perfectly good tv. Probably could have had about five more years. A TV is not dead until the tube dies.
