I don't think we really have these groups in Britain, everything is just banter so we all just take the piss out of each other :-p. The crowds here orientate themselves much more around music and fashion, than around vanity or sports.

However, having said that, I used to hang out with a pretty popular crowd simply because I was in a band, but at the same time I was seen as a bit weird because I had manic depression and OCD at school (luckily I don't suffer those any more).

I was a popular geek .... I guess. I really didn't "gain" popularity until my Senior year, but I was always the girl that was asked to be the jocks' partner on book reports/projects.
