"A new, original series"? -.- Ok if they say so.. Doesn't have the same feel to it as the Uk version. Too generic and naff. Let's hope they don't get a hold of Sherlock god please no. D=
Just like everything else the networks have opportunistically driven this "vampire/werewolf/shapeshifting gay teen that's also a chupacabra" soap opera genre completely in to the ground, and just like everything else you idiots keep lapping it up way past it's prime.
I think that American producers don't believe in selling good character development. I'm actually certain of it infact! After experiencing remakes of things like this and Red Dwarf, Spaced, The Office and even Top Gear I think that's the reason why! It isn't that Americans don't want the originals it's just that producers want to keep giving Americans chicken feed!
How on earth have they improved the idea? Even if they have it still fails across the board, the actors are horrible and I bet if the American version of Aiden Turner left no one would care.
what's the matter with you people??!! if you don't like remakes then don't watch them!! ,there are people like me that rather to watch the remake in this particular case, because IN MY OPINION american guys improved the whole idea A LOT, if it's or not a mistake we'll see, it had very good rating so maybe they were not so wrong, and yes, they CAN do remakes so good that are even better than the original version.
So America thought they could remake "Life on Mars" (mistake), "Kath & Kim" (BIG Mistake), Vicar of Dibley (Never saw the remake, but it starred Kirstie Alley so I'll say no more)...the list goes on. And now, "Being Human". Not only does it show a lack of originality on the writer's part, but the fact is...some shows depend on their culture in order to be successful, and can't adapt to another. These failed attempts are evidence of that.
@Grassfirestanzas You know, while I generally agree with you about the suckiness of American remakes of British shows (and this new version is actually Canadian, not American) I disagree about "Being Human." If anything, I like it better than the BBC version-which I do like a lot. I just find this slight reworking a little bit more compelling. Maybe it's the actors, maybe it's the superior special effects but I do enjoy it more.
I loved the fisrt season (13 part of one hour) I like so much Aidan (Witwer), the vampire, Sally (Rath), the ghost et Josh (Huntington), the werewolf. Nice drama serie as I like see every week
I wanted to like the us version - real;ly gave it a good chance. just found that I wasn't really connecting to the characters like I did in the oribinal bbc show. I found the actor playng the vampire on the scifichannel not to my liking. I also connected far more strongly with the bbc annie.

@starwarsfamilyguy0 sure Mitchell dies in season 3 but that doesn't mean the guy in US version is going to die lol the US prob has a different story towards the end. The main reason they killed Mitchell is cuz the guy who plays Mitchell had a contract to go film LOTR the hobbit part 1 and 2

@JAYL12000 Well it is actually done by the same creators as the UK version. They wouldn't be allowed to do it if it wasn't. The creators of the UK version wanted a wider audience and because the UK version isn't shown here except for on BBC America or Canada they remade it.
Also I watched the first series of the UK version before I started watching the US version and the acting in the UK version is shit, it isn't natural at all. My main problem is the werewolf the other two are okay.

I wish everyone would just shut up, it's a fucking TV show. I'm British and I don't care about this at all. Grow up and stop whining about stolen ideas. Besides, maybe some Americans would like to watch "Being Human" but, because of the vast difference in culture wouldn't understand the British version 100%? Like, I watch American shows and sometimes don't totally understand everything, because I'm not American. This is exactly why this sort of thing happens, they have made a different version
@seagullAbyssLol yeah but see the culture really isn't all that different. Your British but I'm guessing you watch a lot of our shows right? do you understand them? if you do, than flip it around and you'll see where I'm coming from.
The only real difference are homegrown slang terms and local product brands that we may not recognize, and the average American with a brain should actually learn a thing or too from being exposed to these kind of references, instead of being so Xenophobic.
I adore all the comments by Brits claiming America is greedy and doesn't have ideas of our own. Really? Where was Britain when Haiti needed help? Nowhere to be found. But guess who was? The United States. World War II? We pretty much kept Britain from falling to Germany. Vietnam? Did you guys even know that happened? Maybe you we're too busy bitching and moaning about a country that actually does anything. We should've let your country rot back in WWII. Maybe then we wouldnt be dealing with you.
I find the amount of Brits bitching and whining about this hilarious. It's not too difficult to see why the show is remade. The British show is exactly that, A BRITISH SHOW. It's a different culture. Maybe the same language, but different all the same. You're jokes are different than ours, and definitely the actors from the BBC version are ugly as sin. Another problem is location. People want to watch a show that uses locations they've been to or know about. Grow some sense people.
@Hoodedcuz Actually I'm American and I completely disagree. If people didn't "get" British humor, than how come Russel Brand, Ricky Gervais, ect. are selling out theaters here in the states for their standup?? You may not like it, but there is a huge audience for that type of dry wit humor right here in the US.
Also, there is NO WAY IN HELL that Sam Witwer is hotter than Aidan Turner. He looks like a British Ian Somerhalder, & now his replacement is a pasty one-expression dude with ass chin.
@Winchester2596 It's not about it being stolen, it's mainly because it says "a new original series" and that it's just as easy to just show the British version. It can't be cheaper to remake a whole series instead of airing the british version. The UK shows American shows, why should the Americans have to redo the British version? The Office, Top Gear, this, Red Dwarf,...
I tolerate some re-makes, despise others (US Spaced and Red Dwarf spring to mind) but the US television networks have got to stop, we here in the UK have never done it, and why shouldnt we? oh wait, its because we speak the same! - I would never want a british remake of 'How I Met Your Mother' 'Two and a Half Men' or 'That 70's Show' because I love those shows as they are, so why cant americans love our shows - as they are?! thats what I dont get, sorry for ranting
@ZoeHalo It is one of those things, but it neednt be - like I said, I would never want british TV to fuck with american shows, there is now a Shameless US version, and I hear reports of a Misfits US adap *sighs* will it never end! maybe we should retaliate? british Buffy? English Firefly? how about a UK X-Files?! no! it is pointless. Thank god the US can't fuck with Doctow Who.....anymore!
@reachfanatic1234 well technically there are two Doctor Who spinoffs buddy 'The Sarah Jane Adventures' (CBBC only) and 'Torchwood' (which you may heard of, as the latest series was set in America prodiminently) and both of them are actually really good, not flops at all - but thats all thanks to ex DR WHO head writer Russel T Davies! god bless that man
@trentdarko Nothing against the british version but I remember watching Monty Python in the 70s from the BBC network in Chicago. Benny Hill was also a lovable charecter to watch...Times have changed so has tv/cable. I saw the british version on Y.T clip but to be honest I like the U.S version better w/the actors they chosen. But did you ever understand why Hugh Laurey on House created his american accent vs his natural british one? My guess is to relate!
@trentdarko Uk has some of the greatest shows on this planet, there is no doubt. I watch more BBC America than any other network. I LOVE British Television (except Top Gear. what's that all about?) But I'm glad the US redid Being Human. It's SO GOOD but (as usual) the UK versions a bit too dark. and wayy too naked.
And can all Brits with their anti-American sentiment just fuck off already? It's not as if the country held a vote and everyone voted unanimously to adapt Being Human. I know a lot of Americans who love the British version.
The only real reason it's being remade is because longer seasons = more cash flow from advertising. It's really that simple. If you don't like it, then stick to American cable television.
Alright, I was really REALLY looking forwards to this (and I'm a Brit) but it really does feel a little dead (no pun intended). There's simply no life in the show (forgive me), and the dialog is a little too hairy (I'm not taking the piss, I promise). Bishop's played brilliantly, but otherwise everything's acted with a little too much transparency (I'll stop there).
Syfy needs to drive a stake through this show's heart before it's too late.
Copy cats!! This is why I hate americans as all they seem to do is copy our programmes to the exact detail (in this all the characters are wearing the exact same clothes, give or take.) Does my head in. Nothing can beat our british version it is THE best and this is just rubbish. "A New Original Series" Yeah right as if!!! Make up your own TV shows instead of copying ours!!!
@PrincesQueenPrinces hate is a harsh word....i hate nobody, its kind of wrong to say you hate someone because they decided to remake a show, you better be lucky they find the shit interesting in the first place. When you look at it everyone copy someone on this planet, so you should just watch what you say. Britian is a pretty place, clean, blah blah blah....but your just human!
@PrincesQueenPrinces I was discussing earlier how its funny that us Brits dont ever dare remake an american show - have you ever heard of a british version of a Buffy, or Firefly or even the Big Bang Theory? hell no -also have you heard the news, our beloved Misfits is now getting an American make over....im not even sure americans know what an ASBO is. so lets assume, following that they will get The Fades, oh and prob Sherlock, they already have Skins. At least Beaver Falls had the right idea!
@123billybear123 Yea BBC made it first, which means it will end first and if you think most of the cast is better/hotter on BBC than America then you have bad taste.
I love this show, just saw episode 3 and I am hooked! 2.14 million viewers, the biggest hit!! The characters are awesome, with a great storyline so far.
I bet you half the raging crybabies commenting against this are British i dont see what the problem here is even if you dont like the show it can only do good for the entire franchise but i personally like both versions and FRANKLY WHO GIVES A SHIT THE FANBASE ISNT BIG ENOUGH to keep the shows from running much longer anyway
remake my rear end. syfy if this is it its a joke BBC americas being human kicks the crap out of the syfy turd 2 episodes in and im done. this syfy show is not worth wasting film on.
@jreese66 same here. it's ridiculous how hateful people are to hard-working people making a TV show to entertain. Why can't you haters stop bitching over a tv show that was remade? I personally love this show, and I'll be watching the BBC version too just because I find the whole story/plot compelling, I don't give a damn who's in their shoes or where they are; if they can act and put on a nice show then I'm gonna tune in!
anyway... I personally like Josh the best, he's so funny and cute!
What people don't realize is how many shows they do this with! Seriously their is a long list! Wife Swamp, Queer as folk, Agony ( which is the Luci Amaz Show), Airline, As it is, Brat Camp, Eleventh Hour, Faking it, Cold feet, and etc...I kid you not! Theres many more! and just as their are UK shows that have been remade in America, there are plenty of American shows remade in The UK.. Personally I like the UK Being Human better, but I saw the Syfy version and I also liked it! People chill...
@MySweet666Romance i watched it it was great hell if you want the original so bad then go watch the original simple as that and yes i watched the original and IMO i think syfys version is better
To the haters: When they say original, they mean for that network. While it sounds like they mean that it has never been made by anyone else, that's not it. Give the show a chance. Don't knock it 'til you try it. Maybe it'll be as good as the original. And by the way, it's not made by Americans. The remake is Canadian. If you hate on it, what good does that do? Do you get joy out of getting mad at remakes of British shows that you think are being remade by Americans? There's no use in it. None.
@xDriftAway90x Seriously, they do. If the show hasn't aired, how can you form an opinion on it? I agree with you. If they could bring it over to the US, they would've already.
Can't wait to see it! I love the BBC America version and I have to admit I am a lil thrown off as to why SyFy said this was an original series because unless they do some major alterations to the story, it kinda looks like the same one on BBC America. But lets just see what happens shall we? XD
This is a candian remake actually - I'm willing to give it a chance but Syfy does so need to stop saying it an original series.
MTV's remake of Skins on the other hand.... looks like complete shit and a total rip off of every scene only with crap actors in america; i'm not looking forward to Skins at all.
But seriously why can't people stop making tv shows and movies based off books, comics and shows/movies that have already been made. Where in the hell has originality gone to?
@RiverHigurashi By 'new original series', they mean for that network. Also, originality is getting hard to find. And if it is original, it was too outrageous to be made into a book, movie, comic, or show. Thank you for giving the Canadian remake a chance. Most people wouldn't.
People, I completely understand that you're love the original series, but can't you just give this one a chance? Is it going to hurt you to see what it's like? The original is amazing; this promo actually made me go back and check it out, but I think this version deserves a shot too. Oh, and another thing, this is a CANADIAN version. I can't stress that enough. I'm sick of everbody ragging on the US. Not everything is our fault so just do some freaking research before you jump to conclusions.
So whats wrong with the British Version?? Surly OUR series isnt that bad that it needs to be remade with American Characters. We have plenty of American Shows over here and dont feel the need to remake them because we don't understand the "Humour". Give our shows a go for a change and maybe allow some great actors/actresses the chance to get exposure overseas rather than bring in new folk.
@Aisforartist Nothing is wrong with is. I actually quite like it, but it's not AMERICA who's remaking it. It's Canada. I wish they would just show the original over here though, but I'm going to give the new one a chance.
Im all good for remakes, but this US version doesnt have the principles morals of the UK version that the the roommates come across when learning what it is to "Being Human". The US is trying to sell, what they think American audiences would like but no dice US, all you did was ruin a great show that didnt need any change when it is all ready great to start off with
Cannot wait for this show....I love the line "on full moon nights we'll have a party and invite the neighbors over and eat them." What a great line...
I say give the show a chance, How can you tell if it is going to suck by a 31 second trailer? I love the UK series, Huge Huge fan. I am so excited to see what they do with it over here in the states. As of the Original thing, I think they mean the it is being produced by SyFy wich means it will not be on any other networks here. I think people are over reacting to this. I can think of another UK show that ended up being way better in the USA then in the UK. Queer as Folk! Give it a shot.
@saosinlunatic Thank you for you willing to give it a chance as well. I have hope for the show. I think that if it wasn't a remake, everyone would be excited. Even the haters.
I feel offended by this attempt to cover the world's best series... And let they dare to say; "A new original series". A new original series!?! When did copying become original!?! And if it did, why didn't you get the message that copying is outdated!?!
That's just what they say when Syfy has a series that they're producing and broadcasting on their own network, like Eureka, Haven, Warehouse 13, and Sanctuary. Being Human isn't all that original (because it's based on a British show of the same name), but this is technically a Syfy original series.
GOD I lOVE that this show it looking way better then the original series, I mean, I loved it and all but there were quite a lot of flaws. I'm happy with this one, And I absolutly Love Sam as Mitchel's character!

The only real difference are homegrown slang terms and local product brands that we may not recognize, and the average American with a brain should actually learn a thing or too from being exposed to these kind of references, instead of being so Xenophobic.
tinaUNDAcova 1 year ago
I adore all the comments by Brits claiming America is greedy and doesn't have ideas of our own. Really? Where was Britain when Haiti needed help? Nowhere to be found. But guess who was? The United States. World War II? We pretty much kept Britain from falling to Germany. Vietnam? Did you guys even know that happened? Maybe you we're too busy bitching and moaning about a country that actually does anything. We should've let your country rot back in WWII. Maybe then we wouldnt be dealing with you.
Hoodedcuz 1 year ago
I find the amount of Brits bitching and whining about this hilarious. It's not too difficult to see why the show is remade. The British show is exactly that, A BRITISH SHOW. It's a different culture. Maybe the same language, but different all the same. You're jokes are different than ours, and definitely the actors from the BBC version are ugly as sin. Another problem is location. People want to watch a show that uses locations they've been to or know about. Grow some sense people.
Hoodedcuz 1 year ago 2
@Hoodedcuz Actually I'm American and I completely disagree. If people didn't "get" British humor, than how come Russel Brand, Ricky Gervais, ect. are selling out theaters here in the states for their standup?? You may not like it, but there is a huge audience for that type of dry wit humor right here in the US.
Also, there is NO WAY IN HELL that Sam Witwer is hotter than Aidan Turner. He looks like a British Ian Somerhalder, & now his replacement is a pasty one-expression dude with ass chin.
tinaUNDAcova 1 year ago 2
@Winchester2596 It's not about it being stolen, it's mainly because it says "a new original series" and that it's just as easy to just show the British version. It can't be cheaper to remake a whole series instead of airing the british version. The UK shows American shows, why should the Americans have to redo the British version? The Office, Top Gear, this, Red Dwarf,...
Reyson01 1 year ago
I tolerate some re-makes, despise others (US Spaced and Red Dwarf spring to mind) but the US television networks have got to stop, we here in the UK have never done it, and why shouldnt we? oh wait, its because we speak the same! - I would never want a british remake of 'How I Met Your Mother' 'Two and a Half Men' or 'That 70's Show' because I love those shows as they are, so why cant americans love our shows - as they are?! thats what I dont get, sorry for ranting
trentdarko 1 year ago 15
@trentdarko I made a similar rant when I first found out about the re-make. But, what can you do eh? It's just one of those things.
ZoeHalo 8 months ago
@ZoeHalo It is one of those things, but it neednt be - like I said, I would never want british TV to fuck with american shows, there is now a Shameless US version, and I hear reports of a Misfits US adap *sighs* will it never end! maybe we should retaliate? british Buffy? English Firefly? how about a UK X-Files?! no! it is pointless. Thank god the US can't fuck with Doctow Who.....anymore!

@trentdarko thank god they haven't made a doctor who spin-off yet that would've been the biggest flop of the century
reachfanatic1234 1 month ago
@reachfanatic1234 well technically there are two Doctor Who spinoffs buddy 'The Sarah Jane Adventures' (CBBC only) and 'Torchwood' (which you may heard of, as the latest series was set in America prodiminently) and both of them are actually really good, not flops at all - but thats all thanks to ex DR WHO head writer Russel T Davies! god bless that man
trentdarko 1 month ago
@trentdarko well I meant not an american spin-off
reachfanatic1234 1 month ago
@trentdarko Nothing against the british version but I remember watching Monty Python in the 70s from the BBC network in Chicago. Benny Hill was also a lovable charecter to watch...Times have changed so has tv/cable. I saw the british version on Y.T clip but to be honest I like the U.S version better w/the actors they chosen. But did you ever understand why Hugh Laurey on House created his american accent vs his natural british one? My guess is to relate!
Godzie1 1 month ago

SkullXII 1 year ago
Alright, I was really REALLY looking forwards to this (and I'm a Brit) but it really does feel a little dead (no pun intended). There's simply no life in the show (forgive me), and the dialog is a little too hairy (I'm not taking the piss, I promise). Bishop's played brilliantly, but otherwise everything's acted with a little too much transparency (I'll stop there).
Syfy needs to drive a stake through this show's heart before it's too late.
SkullXII 1 year ago
PrincesQueenPrinces 1 year ago
@PrincesQueenPrinces hate is a harsh word....i hate nobody, its kind of wrong to say you hate someone because they decided to remake a show, you better be lucky they find the shit interesting in the first place. When you look at it everyone copy someone on this planet, so you should just watch what you say. Britian is a pretty place, clean, blah blah blah....but your just human!
lizzypoo6216 1 year ago
@PrincesQueenPrinces I was discussing earlier how its funny that us Brits dont ever dare remake an american show - have you ever heard of a british version of a Buffy, or Firefly or even the Big Bang Theory? hell no -also have you heard the news, our beloved Misfits is now getting an American make over....im not even sure americans know what an ASBO is. so lets assume, following that they will get The Fades, oh and prob Sherlock, they already have Skins. At least Beaver Falls had the right idea!

@trentdarko Coupling = Remake of friends....

@iSlyProductions i understand that we're bitching but why did it have to be remade...have you got something against the accents or the people or what?
Remaking a show that hasn't even ended just seems a little desperate to me like they don't have ideas of their own

jreese66 1 year ago

@xDriftAway90x I hope so, too. It comes on in only 2 hours! I have high hopes for the remake. Which, by the way, is Canadian, not American.

I have never seen the original, but from what i have seen from this it looks good.
Reggieuwanna 1 year ago
To the haters: When they say original, they mean for that network. While it sounds like they mean that it has never been made by anyone else, that's not it. Give the show a chance. Don't knock it 'til you try it. Maybe it'll be as good as the original. And by the way, it's not made by Americans. The remake is Canadian. If you hate on it, what good does that do? Do you get joy out of getting mad at remakes of British shows that you think are being remade by Americans? There's no use in it. None.
vicluvsanime 1 year ago 3
@xDriftAway90x Seriously, they do. If the show hasn't aired, how can you form an opinion on it? I agree with you. If they could bring it over to the US, they would've already.
vicluvsanime 1 year ago
Can't wait to see it! I love the BBC America version and I have to admit I am a lil thrown off as to why SyFy said this was an original series because unless they do some major alterations to the story, it kinda looks like the same one on BBC America. But lets just see what happens shall we? XD
MJRChewy 1 year ago
what is this? the original being human is superior than this crap!
edgarfer1977 1 year ago
This is a candian remake actually - I'm willing to give it a chance but Syfy does so need to stop saying it an original series.
MTV's remake of Skins on the other hand.... looks like complete shit and a total rip off of every scene only with crap actors in america; i'm not looking forward to Skins at all.
But seriously why can't people stop making tv shows and movies based off books, comics and shows/movies that have already been made. Where in the hell has originality gone to?
RiverHigurashi 1 year ago
@RiverHigurashi By 'new original series', they mean for that network. Also, originality is getting hard to find. And if it is original, it was too outrageous to be made into a book, movie, comic, or show. Thank you for giving the Canadian remake a chance. Most people wouldn't.
vicluvsanime 1 year ago
People, I completely understand that you're love the original series, but can't you just give this one a chance? Is it going to hurt you to see what it's like? The original is amazing; this promo actually made me go back and check it out, but I think this version deserves a shot too. Oh, and another thing, this is a CANADIAN version. I can't stress that enough. I'm sick of everbody ragging on the US. Not everything is our fault so just do some freaking research before you jump to conclusions.
saosinlunatic 1 year ago
So whats wrong with the British Version?? Surly OUR series isnt that bad that it needs to be remade with American Characters. We have plenty of American Shows over here and dont feel the need to remake them because we don't understand the "Humour". Give our shows a go for a change and maybe allow some great actors/actresses the chance to get exposure overseas rather than bring in new folk.
Aisforartist 1 year ago
@Aisforartist Nothing is wrong with is. I actually quite like it, but it's not AMERICA who's remaking it. It's Canada. I wish they would just show the original over here though, but I'm going to give the new one a chance.
saosinlunatic 1 year ago
Im all good for remakes, but this US version doesnt have the principles morals of the UK version that the the roommates come across when learning what it is to "Being Human". The US is trying to sell, what they think American audiences would like but no dice US, all you did was ruin a great show that didnt need any change when it is all ready great to start off with

That's just what they say when Syfy has a series that they're producing and broadcasting on their own network, like Eureka, Haven, Warehouse 13, and Sanctuary. Being Human isn't all that original (because it's based on a British show of the same name), but this is technically a Syfy original series.
