  • cozy rules forever!!!!!!!

  • Cozy Powell was a talented drummer! RIP Cozy!!!

  • Emerson brought all the ammo he could carry that day. Lake thought it was strange to bring all the yamahas but kept his mouth shut, mostly because Emerson was holding one like a gun.

  • Oh man, the 80s!

  • Not the best ELP album by any means, but it sure as hell beats Love Beach and In the Hot Seat!

  • Classic MacGruber!

  • (We have to assemble the team colonel!) MACGRUBER

  • Was a stipulation of joining with Emerson and Lake that your last name had to start with "P"? I guess Neil Peart was too busy with his other band to take the job.

  • If your thinking this is about homosexuality, I'd say your just thinking too much about smoking schlong, and you'll associate anything with it. Smoke away gayboy, but do us all a favour and fuck off.

  • IMPECABLE!!!

  • @70SULACO NO YO NOENTIENDO ALGUNASPATES DE LA LETRA AUQUE LA MUSICA SI ES IMPECABLE

  • "Promenade", homosexuality... What's wrong with you people?

  • pedal to the medal, blow by blow lol, like alot of 80's music it's about homosexuality. oh well. we all make up the meanings to ourselves anyway to pretend what it isn't because of the quality of other aspects of the song :)

  • @nonameavailableuser - Pedal to the metal refers to driving fast - one of Cozy Powell's hobbies, and it eventually killed him, sadly. Blow by blow is a term describing the announcing style at boxing matches.

  • The information age has changed music as we've known it. Instant access to video streams and social media has transformed the upcoming generations taste from the greatness of Yes, ELP, Queen, The Stones and The Who to Brittany Spears and Lady Gaga. A sad commentary on where we are. The focus has diverted from the audible to the visual. What I applaud the information age is the media, like You Tube, that allow common folk like me to keep alive the brilliance of the Rock era. Rock them all!

  • Cudos to Cozy Powell...

  • This theme from Mussorgsky's "Promenade" has, like the Phoenix, risen from the ashes in an even more compelling arrangement that is ELP.

  • mcgruber rules

  • CAPO DE CAPOS, LOS GUAPOS DE LAGOS DE MORENO!!!!!!!!

  • The man right at the beginning is my grandad, and the guy at 0:08 is my uncle. The video was filmed in Wapping pumping station and my grandad was the caretaker there.

  • Where's Macgruber and his Team?

  • ÄSSÄT!

  • SOMEONE,,,QUICK!!! CALL MacGRUBER!!! :) :) :)

  • Cozy Powell was an awesome drummer!!!!

  • De antes del inicio de los días...lo ví y lo disfruté desde CUANDO FUÉ LANZADO este temazo del rock progresivo de 1986...

  • Honestly, Emerson was never original in his melodies. He took liberally from many classical and jazz composers. His approach was pretty unique however. He's like Jeff Beck; the notes arent new and arent really his but the interpretation is something nobody else dared to come up with.

  • Where's Macgruber and his Team?

  • Porin Ässien tulomusiikki! (jääkiekko)

  • if you don't get ass playing two keyboards, there's no hope for you

  • What does "Touch and go" exactly mean? Is it somekind of 50-50-situatution, very hard to see what the outcome is ? Please explain ?

  • @balicca Exactly - it means it could go either way, and it's all up to fate. These days it's usually used when talking about a patient with critical injuries - "His condition is touch-and-go".

  • thumbs up if macgruber brought you here

  • @sborofsk ELP brought me here. Period.

  • @sborofsk I loved this tune as a kid - I hadn't heard it in about 20 years until I watched MacGruber.

  • 19 people touched and had to stay the same! XD

  • @greygy BOO this man.. and you spelled buffoon wrong you buffoon. This song rocks.

  • Comment removed

  • The eponymous album was underrated; I think Circus Magazine just about called Power Windows part II. The best stuff coming from ELP in whatever incarnation.

  • I liked, because this is played when Ässät of Pori (plays ice hockey in the Finnish elite league) comes on the ice.

  • gosh lake had a killer voice

  • @Interst890 agree... Greg Lake had a silky voice that was powerful when needed... I would kill to be able to sing like that

  • This is serious music!!!...thanks for posting it!

  • How many keyboards do you actually need to play the exact same keyboard riff again and again?

  • @Sparohok That was his set up.. If you ever saw him in concert you would know why he has all those keyboards.

  • @coldfarted Agreed I saw them from front row in Grand Rapids Michigan in the mid 90's,.... and on Knife Edge Keith tips over his Hammond and stabs it with his Knife,.... he played them all at one point of another and since I've played drums since 1975 myself Carl Palmer just blew me away to watch and hear!!!! I saw Cozy with Rainbow, Sabbath and MSG group in the 80's and he totally rocked out,... 2 of my fav's!!!!

  • awesome!

  • classic macgruber

  • RIP Cozy.

  • Both Carl Palmer and Cozy Powell are my drumming hero's,.... just imagine another mix of ELP,.... with Simon Phillips,..... HHmmmmm????

  • @zephead2002 How about Emerson Lake and Peart?

  • @coldfarted Ohhh Hell yeah,.... well I always knew Neil had Rush and Simon was a hired gun,... what about Portnoy???? Thanks for chattin',... fun to imagine isn't it.

  • thumbs up if you were bring here by McGruber

  • Maybe someone could me out here, I have heard that song but not from ELP' it was I remember, an old english folk song sang by a woman but I can't remember the name of the singer or the title of this song. The melody Keith Emerson used for the song Touch and go wasn't an original melody composed by the band, but more like an adaptation of some other english folk song. If somebody was kind enough to share that information with me, it would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance... Dan

  • @Danalblanc Ironic that I just found out this same info on Wikipedia. The song is Lovely Joan. There are some versions on YT. Happy listening.

  • @Danalblanc Lovely Joan was the song.

  • @Danalblanc I know it as 'Lovely Joan' from a Martin Carthy compilation.

  • macgruber !!!!!!!!

  • awesome tune!!!

  • At the time,Carl Palmer didn't give a Shit about his former group (He was with Asia then) ,so,instead, they got Cozy Powell..Powell's now gone, and it's not nice to speak ill of the dead, guys,so,if you don;t want to explain to him when you meet him in the afterlife why you spoke so nasty, may I make a suggestion? SHUT THE FUCK UP!

  • you and your dick comments.

    it's fun to say them.

    it's fun to hear them.

    that's why i say them.

    that's why i listen.

    CLASSIC MCGRUBER!!!!!!!!!!

  • Keith Emerson keyboard god.......

  • Ray, how'd a good old All-American boy find a MuchMusic BackTrax video?

    Great add though, EH! ;)

  • Me gusta esta cancion, hay otras dos más.... sin embargo... de la colección favorita.

  • Esta cancion era fondo de presentación para un importante trio de luchadores de Mexico: Los Hermanos Dinamita!!

  • @threeojl Not with Cozy Powell.

  • @threeojl NO it's Powell!!!

  • Classic MacGruber!

  • Our high school has an occult section?

  • E.L.&Powell was definitely a better album than Love Beach and Black Moon..

  • this is so 80's

  • Great song the best

  • Why is it a pity? After all, it is Cozy Powell on drums.

  • When I heard this at first time, I thought it was Pink Floyd. :o By the way, that's a pity that the song is credited as "Emerson Lake and Powell".(((

  • Monumental

  • wow what an intense thought out song :)

  • All systems go!

    Friend or Foe!

It all depends on the Dice you Throw!

You come without a warning like a UFO!

You're runin with the Devil its Touch and Go!

  • Give me a thumbs up if you find these lyrics amusing: "They're leaving you nothing and nowhere to go, Just put you in the corner like an old banjo. The strings are breakin' but you can't say no" Fucking Shakespeare man!!

  • @cell151 Yeah the whole song is good from head to Toe!

  • Macgruber is the shit!

  • Cozy Powell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • If your momma is gonna name you "Cozy," you'd better be talented...

  • They only chose Powell so they wouldn't have to change the monogram on the towels...

  • It's powell. I think you should go and check in wikipedia what songs have the "Emerson lake and POWELL" band...

by the way this songs is not bad at all. It is sure better than any song in these years...

  • it's cozzy powell playing drum's dumbass

  • This incarnation was Powell.

  • It's Palmer, not Powell

  • @gregoryjrocks : its Cozy Powell - yes its says EL Palmer but this is the original track with Powell. I have the album memorized. Most obvious look at pictures of Cozy and Carl. Cozy has black hair, Carl does not and Carl is a little prettier ... great song regardless ... the tour was incredible

  • F*cking MacGruber!

  • Porin Ässät SM-Liiga Winners 2011.

  • @WesQ

  • @WesQ JESS!! Näin on!

  • I had tickets for the Emerson, Lake & Powell tour back in 1986 - the tix were for the show at the Kiel Auditorium in St. Louis. However, the entire tour was canceled, and the band was never heard from again.

  • @stlblues86 That's odd because I saw their show in St Paul on that tour.

  • Crap music......Powell's worst band.

  • powell not palmer

  • Palmer... not Powell

  • fuckin masterpiece!

  • It's a great song, but I have to wonder... if Emerson has nine different keyboards here, and Powell has about twenty five different drums, why isn't Lake playing five basses at once?

  • @MrDaoco Kieth only has 7 keyboards in this video, not 9

  • I think Carl Palmer was tied up with the group ASIA during this time and thus we get Cozy. Funny they inaccurately headline it as ELP.

  • I think Carl Palmer was tied up with the group ASIA during this time and thus we get Cozy.

  • Classic MacGruber

  • @tjrtherocksponge I think the clothes that they were wearing on the cover of that Love Beach alone were enough to make it a flop!

  • @mystizzk

E,L & Palmer and E,L & Powell are 2 different bands..., you should inform yourself before giving an opinion.

These guys tried to reform the original ELP in 1986, but Carl Palmer was unable to do so bc of contract duties with ASIA, so they decided to welcome aboard drummer legend Cozy Powell.

  • powerful tune

  • Interesting. They give drumming credit to Carl Palmer when it's actually the late Cozy Powell on the skins. Too bad.

I have this song on my iPod, and I remember when this song came out. Thanks.

  • This is what Emerson, Lake & Palmer became?

    Why....

  • Remember a musicvideo from 1986 where everything went fast, cars people, skyline over an city nightime. Most of the video you see the view of a driver inside a car and it goes fast. I've search everywhere but can't find it. Always tought it was a music video of ELP's "LOVE BLIND", but im not sure. Somebody knows?

  • This is such a great display of Keith Emerson and his amazing talents on keyboards and synthesizers.

  • This song is so huge and majestic. I love Emerson's trumpet part. That completely makes the song for me. Great video too.

  • Reminds me of high school band trips, yes I was sporting the MacGruber doo. I didn't have the pull-out Blaupunkt, I was sporting a little boom box for my theme music. The good old days! I still have this cassette.

  • Keith still had his GX-1 here? I thought this was after the tractor incident.

  • R.I.P. COZY !

Great song....but they saved a lot of dough-ray-mee on hotel towels bringing in Cozy.

  • Great song, wish there was a higher quality version on Youtube. Those were the days...80s were the best.

  • Have they every used pyro performing this song? At any of thier shows?

  • brilliant - 24 years later it is still relevant!

  • u running wit the devil and its touch n go macgruber 4eva

  • why does it say emerson lake and palmer?

  • i hate 16 people :D

  • wow...forgot this one...NICE!!!!!!

  • sounds like a girl singing

  • @BetterTasteThanU lol, love the trolling

  • Yeah, man, this was back when bands knew how to ROCK! I hear that synthesizer kick in, and I just get all goosey, like I want to get in a soccer brawl or something!

  • one of the best time periods in music's history... it makes my want to cry *sniffl*

  • @kcleft123 The 80's? You think so? For me, I believe is when everything (music) started going down the hill.

  • @vivelavidarocka i guess it all just depends on what kind of music you like. for me this is pretty good.

  • @kcleft123 Oh no me too! I liked this song. And I understand where you come from. Being younger and hearing the awful quality of music nowdays, even the poppy 80's started to sound good. But now that you know about this band through this song, go ahead and listen their earlier works, far superior. Also you'll see what I'm talking about. Peace.

  • @vivelavidarocka i know ive heard some of their other songs. some of the earlier ones. but i really like the beat of this song

  • Thank god that Cozy has a family name which starts from "P".

  • La musica de Cien Caras... que recuerdos tan chidos de mi infancia

  • I saw ELP in concert in 1978.. It was my first concert... after probably over 100 concerts that is still the best one I ever saw. I had this song on cassette when it came out... I used to drive around jamming on it full blast... lol ELP kicks ass.

  • Que rolononon, lastima que Cozy Powell nos haya dejado...

  • Cool guys, cool music. ELP, one of the best. Brain Salad Surgery, best album of all time. I can't get tired of this song. Seeing Powell as the drummer made me wonder what Palmer was up to, which eventually lead me to see where Steve Hackett and Steve Howe was. Anyways, I wish I had that many keyboards surrounding me like Emerson does.

  • @troublesomecorsair Just a quick note to tell you that I think Brain Salad Surgery is one of my favorite albums of all time. But it is amazing to me how many people seem to dispise it.

  • @lekocafe Not me. With "Tarkus" and "Pictures...", their best works.

  • cozy was great but...hey carl palmer is right there next to God and Buddy rich

  • i didnt know Gary Bussey played keyboards.... : p

  • Ah. I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!! It gave me chills then and still does now. I love Cozy's playing here. Fuck Lady Gaga and Travis Barker can go suck it!!!!

  • Cozy had a unique sound.

    This album is a cornerstone

  • macgruber is one of the best movies i ever seen!

  • Where's MacGruber and his team?

  • @rtardbox Time to pound some Cunth!

  • @rtardbox Yeah I loved this song in Macgruber!

  • @rtardbox HOLY SHIT!!!! HA! HA! HA! I JUST SEEN MACGRUBER LAST NIGHT ON HBO,,THAT'S WHY I HAD TO SEE THIS VIDEO!!! TALK ABOUT SUBLIMLAL MESSAGES??

  • Cozy Powell has to be one of the most overlooked session drummbers. It is amazing how many albums and variety of groups he played or stepped in for.

  • MacGruber owns

  • ....Powell?

  • @Hawkallica It is the only album that Carl Palmer is not on. I believe he was still tied up with Asia for the Astra album.

  • This is in the key of "C". At the High Voltage festival last month they did it in "G" - poor Greg!

  • Comment removed

  • They should have walled the keyboard guy in on all sides. He's already got 20 of them there!

  • I remember when the Florida Gators would play this at the beginning of the coach's show on Sunday's .

    awesome song !

  • That Synth always gives me chills.

  • Still the best version of this song....live and the recent 2010 offering are not in the same league.

  • LOL THIS SONG WAS ON MACGRUBER XD

  • I remember those MTV hours as an early teen back in the 80s (as a heavy metal creature) watching this great video getting played. I am no expert regarding EMP (Palmer & Powell), and know only a fistful of songs. This one, however, is awesome in all its simplicity. There´s a dark undertone in the ambience created by the keyboards and synths, like Emerson´s part at 2:13; also Cozy Powell added power to this song, his part at 2:47 kicks ass.

  • The Key and Synth bank is MONSTROUS!!!

  • Wow this is cheesy. Respect these guys as musicians but they tried to make a pop song ala Asia or whatever. Stick to the progressive music.

  • @zalewskimm NOT cheesy ... Why is something cheesy because it's successful? The first 2 Asia records were very popular - fact is John Wetton's vision, musically (Pop-rock songs with elements of prog, slipped in) was ahead of everybody, at the time, in 1981 - ALL those guys ... and Yes' 90215 and Big Generator, the ELPowell album, and the GTR album all followed in their wake ... So go timewarp yourself back to fucking '70s, if you somehow don't know this is good ~ it is.

  • eXCELLENT...i LOVE THIS STYLE OF DRUMMING..Not over playing, just right.Great use of space

  • While this incarnation was not a success musically in terms of public sales and awareness, I somehow got the recording and enjoyed it, I would like someone to host perhaps all the songs because they are deserving, promo or not! And Greg Lake's Nuclear Attack was a hit albeit minor one at the time I believe

  • cozy powell e moooooonstro!!!!!

  • Classic MacGruber.

  • Yes that is a GX-1 he started using it on Works Vol. 1...the thing is huge

  • awesome song ! too many memories

  • I can't believe I have a doctorate and I LOVED McGruber! THANK you for bringing back this INCREDIBLY underrated song from the 80's!

  • Macgruber!

  • i want Keith Emerson inside me.
