Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't remote control TV sets a relatively new invention in the mid 1980's? Also weren't Samsung a relatively unknown electronics company, unlike Sony, Philips, Sharp etc.? Mind you, compared to the Samsung TV sets of today, that Samsung TV advertised just now is tiny!! Ps, I too remember this ad from 1985..

Simon Cadell could sell sand to the arabs. There's never been an advertisement voice quite like it or a British actor who so dominated on screen advertising. Taken from us much,much too soon. He was and always will be fantastic.

My last 4 cellphones have been Samsungs.. I went out of my way to buy a unbranded model and I love it. Just brought another Samsung early this morning as well!

Given their position today, it's amazing to think that until the early-mid 1990s, Samsung were one of the "value" brands at the lower end of the market.
