In a mili second, Schumacher would've realized his car had suffered no damage, he decided to rejoin in a clear bit of track, continue with the racing line and enter the corner. Hill tried to take advantage of Schumacher mistake but wasnt aware he suffered no damge and was about to continue to race. Hill assumed wrong.

Regarding MSC's 2010, what are you expecting to hear from me? "He was better than ever!"? Nope. He was pretty mediocre. Still I wouldn't call it disappointing. I never expected that he would be faster than anyone on the truck after 3 years of retirement. Still think next season he’ll be stronger. Otherwise he’ll have to leave for good. But at the same time his role is a bit different nowadays.He’s essential for Merc in case they do really want become a top-team. And I bet they do.

I think Schumacher was right to come back onto the track, I mean the car wasn't seriously damaged and he had the racing line, Hill didn't and he went up the inside and as Schumacher went round they just clipped each other and I think it was 50:50.
In 94 it´s both´s fault, because Schumacher hit the wall an was slow, and he surely had damaged his car, so if Hill had waited 1 turn, he had been able to pass him without crashing. It was a little bit too optimistic to pass him there.
In 97 I am right with you. But he got his "penalty" there: No Points for the entire Season.

Defending a corner is one thing, but veering from left to right to prevent anyone getting past you after loosing speed due to collision with a wall is anything but fair racing. The thing that pissed alot of people off about Schumy was his 'who me? it wasnt my fault' attitude.

Well as I actually watched the race live at the time, Schumy was interviewed and said his car was undriveable, that was his excuse for veering left to right and taking Hill onto the curb. So according to him his car was fucked. Racing lines have no relevence, Schumy was switching from left to right and wasnt holding his position, there was plenty of room on the track for Hill but Schumy slammed his car into the side if him.

I'm sorry to say that but with the eyes of a racedriver the only one to blame is Hill. Despite the possibility of a broken car (which couldn't be seen) Schumacher was still in the lead and had the line. Damon was just impatient and cut into a non-existing gap, taking out Michael and himself.
But I know people in general like to shift the guilt on cheater Michael while hailing the great Ayrton Senna who for sure was a genius but in fact the biggest cheater of all
i totaly agree, senna was of course a great driver but he would have done all the things shumi did over his very long carear. they want to win at all cost and sometimes in the heat of the battle things happen which make them look bad. in this case it was all hills fault. read my other comment that i wrote in reply to bmk139.
Michael Schumacher ruined F1 racing. He has no sense of sportmanship and now Lewis Hamilton is trying to follow in the same steps. Anytime someone gets along side of either they run them in the grass. Thats not racing.

I think u gotta look at Alonso for dirtiness. Brake testing in a practice session against Robert Doornbos, brake testing Coulthard, blocking Lewis from getting pole in hungary. I admit Lewis could be cleaner but Fernando is worse, Schumacher worse than that.

sure schumacher hit hill which was a terrible thing to do but he was suspended for two races and disqualified in one and failed to start another but still went into this race with a lead over hill... people must realise that if that never happened, hill would'nt have even been in contension for the title... never the less i think hill should've gotten the title because of schumachers actions...
Michael did what he had to do to win the 1994 championship... what would you have done in his situation? let Damon go by and hope you can still re-pass him? This my sound like a selfish comment, but when it come to a multi-million dollar sport such as Formula 1 and you have a world championship at stake, you need to do what's best for YOU! I'm NOT saying Schumacher is the best of all time, but he is one hell of a driver!
I think Michael may have took Hill out intentionally too. But I'm sure if we was to realise he would win a further 6 titles he might of thought about his actions differently in this race.

Schumacher did nothing wrong. Its Hill fault. Everyone forgets how fast an F1 drivers brain works. In a mili second, Schumacher would've realized his car had suffered no damage, he decided to rejoin in a clear bit of track, continue with the racing line and enter the corner. Hill tried to take advantage of Schumacher mistake but wasnt aware he suffered no damge and was about to continue to race. Hill assumed wrong.

@drewers01 Thats funny cos im kinda the same as you, I was never a big fan of the schumacher/Ferrari years, they used to play cheap tactics and ruin races with team order, schumi often used underhanded tactics to win, and when he was beat he was a bad loser. But now he's back in f1, im actually rooting for him. Maybe its because now hes older, hes become an underdog, and I think he has become alot more humble as a driver. He's a much more likeable charicter these days.

It annoys me when people dismiss Schumacher for being as good as Senna, because Schumacher was a fucking unreal driver in his day, he used to leave the opposition standing, even in an inferior car. Also, senna crashed into prost at 200 km/h while this was at a very low speed. Prost could have been seriously injured from that crash. Is that the way of a genius? So either label them both as cheaters or as geniuses.

Schumacher admitted that it was a deliberate block on Damon hill. So he would win the championship. If f1 governors had any balls he would have been banned for at least a year and the title handed to Damon.
Infact they should have done that the second he admitted to it plus a fine matching at least his earnings for that year.

Typical BS from Senna fan. Hakkinen HAD decent car in 2000 and 2001. His performance just wasn’t decent. And in 1999 MSC had his leg broken. I remember all those “experts” saying that’s was going to be the end of his career. But returned back only to be faster than ever and smashed Hakkinen in the next season.

Regarding MSC's 2010, what are you expecting to hear from me? "He was better than ever!"? Nope. He was pretty mediocre. Still I wouldn't call it disappointing. I never expected that he would be faster than anyone on the truck after 3 years of retirement. Still think next season he’ll be stronger. Otherwise he’ll have to leave for good. But at the same time his role is a bit different nowadays.He’s essential for Merc in case they do really want become a top-team. And I bet they do.

All this combined might take him close to the front runners. Though, I seriously doubt that he would still be able to beat people like Hamilton, Alonso and Vettel. I think Schumacher was right to come back onto the track, I mean the car wasn't seriously damaged and he had the racing line, Hill didn't and he went up the inside and as Schumacher went round they just clipped each other and I think it was 50:50.

In 94 it´s both´s fault, because Schumacher hit the wall an was slow, and he surely had damaged his car, so if Hill had waited 1 turn, he had been able to pass him without crashing. It was a little bit too optimistic to pass him there.
In 97 I am right with you. But he got his "penalty" there: No Points for the entire Season.

So all the Great drivers have been beaten to more World Championships to No Racer?!?! Schumachers Attitude to racing is different to everyone else because he will do anything to win. Fair point on him being the only F1 driver ever to be disqualified from a World Championship, but Unlike Hill, Schumacher was consistant, throughout his carrer, he was a title contender ever since 1993. @jnagamer yes we all know schumacher is one of F1's most superb drivers but even so he's a disgrace of a superb driver, this incident is basically video proof that he stole one his 7 title's, on top of that he tried the same thing on villneuve in 1997 which would have made it 8 title's to his name if it paid off. With these incidents alone you have to question his entire career. then again maybe he can redeem himself with his 2010 comeback

Ayrton Senna, like him or not, he was one of the truly greatest naturally talented drivers of all time, no one can deny that & I was saddened when he died.....
But, like Schumacher he was also known to use dirty under-handed tactics, especially with Alain Prost as they despised each other!
I am a massive F1 enthusiast, I have studied the sport & its history for years & know more than most do!

@drewerz01 I won't nessecarily disagree with this one and vilneuve (which I have never seen), but if you look close enough at the one in Monaco, you can see that as he entered the corner, his rear end started to get away from him, and was only trying to correct it and he did not have anough room to do so

Defending a corner is one thing, but veering from left to right to prevent anyone getting past you after loosing speed due to collision with a wall is anything but fair racing. The thing that pissed alot of people off about Schumy was his 'who me? it wasnt my fault' attitude.
But i do agree with you on one comment you made, that Hill only had Schumy beaten when he was diving a qucker car. Hakkinen was the only real challenge to Schumy, altho he did have some great scraps with Montoya

sorry to say but i think dan is right, the best drivers down the years have been bastards and what he did in 97 champ was very bad but this was really hills fault. yes shumi went off the track and hit the wall but came back on to defend his position with a car all in one piece. what the hell was hill doing shooting down the inside and over the curb?? shumi would have made the corner ok. if hill had kept back then shumi would have had a very bad feeling car to race at best. hill would have won.

Well as I actually watched the race live at the time, Schumy was interviewed and said his car was undriveable, that was his excuse for veering left to right and taking Hill onto the curb. So according to him his car was fucked. Racing lines have no relevence, Schumy was switching from left to right and wasnt holding his position, there was plenty of room on the track for Hill but Schumy slammed his car into the side if him.

well bmk139, that is your opinion but i feel that shumi was just going defensive into the corner. plus i also watched the race live and had it on tape for ages. dont ever remember an interview where he said he car was "fucked" and in the 5 seconds after hitting the wall how the hell would he know how bad the car was. looks in full control to me in the video and if he had said it then i am sure it was just to blame it on the car rather than either driver. thats my opinion of course ;)

I'm sorry to say that but with the eyes of a racedriver the only one to blame is Hill. Despite the possibility of a broken car (which couldn't be seen) Schumacher was still in the lead and had the line. Damon was just impatient and cut into a non-existing gap, taking out Michael and himself.
But I know people in general like to shift the guilt on cheater Michael while hailing the great Ayrton Senna who for sure was a genius but in fact the biggest cheater of all

I think u gotta look at Alonso for dirtiness. Brake testing in a practice session against Robert Doornbos, brake testing Coulthard, blocking Lewis from getting pole in hungary. I admit Lewis could be cleaner but Fernando is worse, Schumacher worse than that.

sure schumacher hit hill which was a terrible thing to do but he was suspended for two races and disqualified in one and failed to start another but still went into this race with a lead over hill... people must realise that if that never happened, hill would'nt have even been in contension for the title... never the less i think hill should've gotten the title because of schumachers actions...
