the forehand flick at 0:20 was so fast that once the ball hit ma lin's side, it was going fast enough so that the ball actually paused in time for a fraction of a second. the only explanation was that the flick was faster than time itself

This is interesting play from 2003... Ma Lin is using reverse backhand more than what he uses today, and I thought reverse backhand in penhold was more of Wang Hao's thing, and I thought it wasn't until '04 or '05 Ma Lin adapted it.

klh plays very technical. him and waldner play very similar. if you watch olympics 2000 you'll see they're almost even. waldner is a bit better on serves and tricky moves. kong is slightly faster and even on bh. that's why he won a couple crucial rallies to win the gold
