its not in standard tuning. dave could never sing at standard key. this is an old tape recording and sped up a thats why alex's kit sounds so off, along wtih dave's voice... sounding like his balls havent dropped. its a deteriorated tape slightly sped up.
It was recorded at The Pasadena Civic Center right after they signed with warner Brothers. I have the Bootleg Album. It's called 'Die Laughing" and it is fuckin awesome! A bunch of first and second album stuff. The Greatest rock band ever...Can't wait to hear the new shit next year!!!!
@EVHguitarz But if this is '77, then the recording might not have been so good, so that's why it might sound different. And maybe because the song was played at such a fast pace, then Alex might not have hit the drums as he might of if it was slower.
Always fascinates me that the most legendary rock bands had to have a dynamic showy singer competing with a virtuoso guitarist.......let the sparks fly and out came great music......Plant & Page, Tyler & Perry, Jagger & Richards, Mercury & May.......Roth & Halen were no different.
@Hunkola I was watching Almost Famous last night and when Jason Lee said said it best: the frontman and the guitarist with mystique, all the best bands have that dynamic
@stjames888 -- Roth and Eddie were probably the greatest duo in rock.......Plant & Page, Tyler & Perry were great dues too........but they wrote a lot of bad songs as well........Dave and Eddie were incapable of writing a bad song --- they were just that fucking good
Those harmonies!!!

It is Van Halen, it's just that the tempo is sped up a bit from the original, that's why it sounds a little funny.

If you think this is not Van Halen you are mistaken. It is most definitely Van Halen. Come on VH fans, clean your ears out.

@EVHguitarz Well, you're wrong, but what gave you this conclusion?
VanHalenRocks100 7 months ago
@VanHalenRocks100 the drums dont sound right...not enough compression coming through and Alex has a very heavy bottom end...this sounds different

he does look a little tattered in that one. I think it was doctored on Photoshop. It looks like something the Enquirer magazine put together......
