While I agree that reading is a very good past time, so is socializing with various people all over the world whom you may never get to meet otherwise. Also playing WoW gives people a chance to exercise their cunning in a setting that requires ideas and thoughts to be exchanged with others. I play WoW and am perfectly normal and have a good social life. It gives me a chance to put into play things from the past books I have read.
