Walter didnt make the team yet. We wont find out till July. The olympic trials are on the USA and NBC stations from June 28th -July 6th. You should look up the schedules cuz there are some heavy hitters for all the sprints this year--from the 100 to the 400
I dont know whats going on with Carter recently but he is trippin. I think he got some personal issues, like baby mamma dramma--but even though this happened a while back, Dix dominated the race. People didnt noticed that the last couple of meters, Dix slowed down because he had the race won already.
Look it up now, walter dix just made it. Type 2008 olympic trials track and field. He was second to tyson gay. I've been telling people that walter dix will be the fastest in the world USA and possibly the world soon.
Dix is best in the 200. His 9.93 in the 100 is the second fastest of all times atthe collegiate level. These huys will push each other and provide us with great races to watch right thru the next olympics. I am proud of my cousin, Walter Dix for choosing to stay in school another year! Great character also!
why are all of u talking about Jeremy Wariner as if he dominates every events he is in come on i'll give it to Dix he's a great sprinter but in the long run i personally favor Carter in the 200 because i happen to be a sprinter myself and know how hard this race is but the 100 belongs to dix
theyre both good. in their own events. carter hasnt been running the same since college. he's not as fast as he used to be. and i beleive the 2 are the same age. carter went pro after his sophmore year. he woulda been a junior this year-same as dix.
i don't know 19.69 for Dix, even before he ran that, I thought that Dix's turnover was better than Carter's...I think when it's all said and done, Dix will be better, Carter's downfall will be that he'll forever be in Wariner's shadow...their both a new breed of athletes, Tyson Gay included...
Carter's downfall? What are you talking about? carter is not in Wariner's shadow. Carter is an amazing sprinter and will have a bright future. It's a good thing that there are plenty of stars out there. They will just push each other to great results. Anyway, Carter is faster than Wariner in the 100 and 200m. Carter is definitely the real deal.
yeah i say Wariner's shadow because you've seen it before in all sprint events where if it weren't for one person than the next guy would get a chance to shine, we saw it with Mo Green and Ato Boldon, Michael Johnson and Tyree Washington, now it's Wariner's 400 until he retires...the 200 is open to Dix, Carter, Spearmon or Gay...but the 400 is all Wariner's with Carter behind him. see what i mean?
Carter's main event is the 200m not 400m so he's not in Wariner's shadow. The 400m is Wariner's right now. I can see Merrit challenge him in the near future though. Carter can do it all but his future is definitely the 200m that's were he shines. That's where he's at his very best so it's not Wariner vs Carter.
and yeah, these new guys are running sub 19.7 like it's the thing to do. me personally i'd like to see Andrew Rock do well in the 400, we ran at a lot of the same meets in college...a DIII product!!! but I really do feel that Dix will more success, the guy's still in college and the sky's the limit once he begins to focus on 1 to 2 events instead of the 100, 200, 4X1 and 4X4...
dix is good, but carter is way, way better. just look at the results from the outdoor championships. carter toyed with dix in dix's best event, the 100m
i don't think anyone would want to compare carter and dix in the 200, given what carter is now doing in that event. like i said dix is good. carter may be one of the best ever. if you keep up with track and field, you know what people are saying about carter.
Carter lost to the same guy he beat weeks later. Carter is not "way, way better", and this is coming from a Carter fan! Walter Dix still has a faster 100m pr than him, but at 200m Outdoors, Carter Prob woulda won even if Dix was healthy.
while carter did lose this race, it is clear that carter has gotten much better since that time. dix may have a faster time, but carter won head to head and now that he is a pro, he is going to have a head start on dix in terms of resources. so yes, carter is "way, way better".
When it's all said and done, the men of the Garnet and Gold have nothing left to do but hoist up high a trophy - the fruits of their endeavors - and proclaim to the nation in one voice that "We won it all." *raises my glass* Hail to the 2006 national track champions! How 'bout them 'Noles!

U guys who say Carter is way better are idiots
Carter PR: 100m 10.09, 200m 19.63
Dix PR: 100m 10.05, 200m 19.69
And Dix is younger.

first of all his favorite event is the 200, and he ran at nationals even though he had problems with his hamstring leading up to it.
