  • THE GOOD OLD DAYS...i wish i lived in 1970 :(

  • I grew up hearing my dad sing this song all the time :)

  • OH NO!!! UNLUCKY 13!!! "Never On Sunday" peaked at No. 13 and spent a total of 12 weeks in the Billboard's Top 100 in 1961...

(But then again; there are thousands and thousands of songs on You Tube that never charted at all)

Two other versions of this song have charted: also in 1961 Lale Anderson reached No. 88 and Don Costa topped out at No. 19 in 1960...

  • Music by Manos Hadzidakis

  • Amazing...

  • Rebecca Black probably thought she sounded like this

  • @Louisianajane because no one has the talent like these girls

  • @CrashJSTest are you going to watch the picture during the whole song? Is it that tragic??

  • @CrashJSTest why do the pixels matter for this

  • God why do we have to live in the 21st century? But I guess it's okay we do since we wouldn't have the great luxuries like Youtube, very bloody video games, the great horror, thrillers, and action movies of the 21st century. My only wish is that 9/11 never happened since it ruined the American dream.

  • @acartee.....Thank you so much .

...I had all my metaphoric gun's loaded and aimed for blood .

...You said it all .I will unload and stay out of the nazi concept .

...However ,any German who has nostalgia for the 30's 40's has to be a Holocast denier .

  • This song did not win the Oscar. The original Greek version of it for the movie "Never on Sunday" did.

  • @Rogermiler ......I never thought I would agree wiyh a youngster about music .

    ...But I do .

  • ta paidia tou peiraia???????????????

  • @aglaia33 ma vevaia TO EVERYONE OUT THERE THIS IS THE ENGLISH VERSION OF THE GREEK SONG 'TA PAIDIA TOU PEIRAIA' THE CHILDREN OF PIRAEUS

  • WHO ever Dislikes this you are gay go be emo am this song Rocks i wis it was the 30s 40s 50s Men were Suits Women Were Dresses and the cars homes People Are Nice God i would do any thing to live in that time

  • @GermanBlood8 Umm... the movie Never On Sunday was about a prostitute. But I guess she did wear dresses at least part of the time, so would meet your criteria. Personally, I'm glad to be done with McCarthyism, the Cold War, constant threat of nuclear annhilation (can you say "duck & cover"?), racial oppression, sexist oppression, etc - including no Internet, no Wiki, no YouTube, and so forth. Time marches on, each generation has its own trials and its own nostalgia.

  • This is fantastic!!!! Why isn't anyone doing a remake????

  • I <3 it... I always hear it every Sunday in Philippine FM Radio stations.. several times a day. I just passed the nursing licensure exam and this reminds me of my taxi rides to Sunday review class!! :)

  • A song about Sunday --> unbelievable nice.

A song about Friday --> Rebecca Black ruined it.

  • I love the melody :)

  • The start sounds like it's gonna be Mr Sandman :DDD

  • @JapDaZomby

exactly...for a second i thought lil wayne would be shouting out It's The Muddaf***king Remix!

  • weird one

  • When we wake up to the truth of life, inspired music like this will emerge and flourish again, and all the uninspired crap that people call "music" these days will fade away and be forgotten. Search "Truth Contest" in Google and click the 1st result, then open The Present and read what it says to learn the truth of life.

  • Okay, and I'm three and a half, and I was born with an Ipod stuck in my ears, because I was listening to these nice ladies since my conception, and slammed Jimmy Hendrix and Buddy Holly on the umbilical cord.

    Little pricks.

  • I love this song and I'm 14 :)

  • @MrsOmnomnomers lol im 15 and i love the chordettes

  • @TheJuicyfruitx I turn 16 next month and I love the chordettes :p lol just thought I'd add :D

  • @ClarinetForever95 Yay for youngins loving the chordettes!

  • @ClarinetForever95 im actually related to carol buscman

  • @TheJuicyfruitx That's so cool!

  • @ClarinetForever95 13 here. Just thought I'd add 'cause it makes me feel special.

  • Of course we all know that melina Mercouri played the role of the village prostitue in the film, right?? It is a classic and I enjoy it each and every time I watch.

As she left the Greek tragedy theatre and they "all went to the beach" was a corker!!!!

  • this music is heaven

  • realy the music today is very bad and terrible..Cem-Turkey...

  • what is their style of singing called (the beginning part where they imitate the sound of instruments... scat singing?)

  • @saladin92 Acapella I think.

  • @saladin92 Yes, that's scat singing...i've learned that one not too long ago also lol

  • I ment this song.Greetings America from Canada to Patagonia, from Tultamex.

  • I love this sing. I'm a Mexican indian, but I can make the differeces between good music and the rest.

  • LOL, Hell yeaah sunday is my day for rest XDDD

  • Excellent performance by the Chordettes

  • 28 people are never gonna get kissed on a Sunday (and maybe NO OTHER DAY EITHER!!)

  • @HoboGus They deserve not to be kissed for disliking this wonderful song.

  • i am just 15 but i think this is insane

  • well greek music is globally recognised!!!

  • This is a great song.Thank you for posting.

  • This is so beautiful.......I love it.

  • yup....society n everyone here suck....all this technology is making us put less effort into stuff like music...now its all done on computers, vocals r fixed n yea.....the 50's we were barely discovering things...

  • those who click dislake must be stupid or they click it by accident. ;D XD :D

  • Love it, Love it, Love it, Love it ! ! !

  • i really like the vocal groups of the fifties, The Chordettes, The Chantels, The Crew-Cuts, The Five Satins, The Five Keys, all of them are great! Sad that this kind of music isn't made anymore...

  • our shit is pretty good but nobody's saying that your shit is bad its just different shit and without your shit we wouldnt have our shit now would we. shit for everyone i say

  • @cranyyy

Why don't go take a shit and fall backwards.

  • that one Chordette to the far (my ) right is such a babe

  • A nice reminder of how beautiful music can be with good harmonies and well blended voices.

  • I can loop 1:42 an onwards forever and ever.....

  • Hahahahaahhha This is actually .... not that good. LOL.

  • @murtagh334 Are you kidding ? It's GREAT! I love the bouncy fun theme. It's great party music for a retro theme party. I had a fun 30th birthday party and played a lot of fun oldies from the 50's and early 60's. This is just perfect for parties. Close your eyes while hearing this song and think of a pool, lots of people, a barbecue, summer, and this song playing. It matches!

  • i have cherch on sunday thats why i cant

  • JeffHardly look for the original version : Melina Merkouri-ta padia tou Pirea

  • Does anyone know the name of the artist that sings the recent version on this which I heard on holiday in Zakynthos it was in English. Please comment if you know

  • Wonderful song as an instrumental but those lyrics in the sung version...

  • the one on top looks like my aunt.only she looks nice but my aunt has anger problems

  • @231johnjohnson lol so does my mom. XD

  • @TheFiddlelover maybe we are relatives lol

  • This Music Rocks, Not the new electro crappy music... this music makes me relaxed and i love dis music

  • ShaNaNa did a skit version of this song that is a blast!

  • This has got to be the #1 most covered oldie single song. Doris Day sang it, Connie Francis sang it and Petula Clark sang it. The first and original was a Greek pop singer but the English translation version was far more popular. I really love the Chordettes singing this but also Petula Clark who sings it very sweetly and beautifully.

  • @AmericanEvita The English version isn't a translation of the Greek. Check out a subtitled clip of the scene in "Never on Sunday" where Melina Mercouri sings the song. The lyrics are completely different.

Frankly, the English lyrics sound a bit stupid.

  • i rem this on the radio but everyone should rem that back then they had to play so many tunes over and over again through the day cause by 1960 there may only have been an average of a couple hundred tunes made every year so us guys from back then know practically every word to every song from back then

  • Lovely song, lovely harmony. Sorry kids, you have no clue what you're missing today.

  • @SandraWrites Sorry sandra, we're not missing anything the power of the internet =) love this song.

  • Cute song :)

  • Thank you for sharing this great music.

  • This is the funniest version of Hatzidakis' song I've ever heard! The composer had said that he didn't care any more for song's luck cause he had been bored of so many versions he had heard of.

You had to listen it in the movie by the actress Merkouri.

  • A funny Sunday song...enjoy !!!j

  • WOW, I LOVE this song. I was browsing around on "The Andrews Sisters" then I saw "Never On Sunday" in suggestions... I listened to the song and I remembered that I've heard of this song before. Lol, my heart skipped a beat that day (which was like... yesterday) and just about a moment ago also, too HAHA!! This song is awesome.

  • I was in Larnaca lately, on a kinda bar name SpyBar, and they played a remix of this song.

Anyone know where I can find it? : 9

  • If you want to hear a completely different and unique rendition of this tune listen to Xavier Cugat. What a wonderful orchestra he had.

  • Go Greeks!

  • coolll

  • Is that Andy Williams making the popping noise?!

  • so sweet

  • im 18 now and ive been listenin to oldies since i was 12 and seeing todays music i will stick with the 50s,60s and 70s and little bit of 40s music :)

  • @KyplayaZ4lyfe Sad. You must be homeschooled.

  • @SuperSundance7 sadly no, i actually just have good taste in music.

  • @KyplayaZ4lyfe Yes, you do have good taste in music. There is nothing wrong with the music you do love but to dismiss all music past the 70's is not only sad, you are doing yourself a great disservice. You have already bridged the gap from swing to doo-wop to rock & roll to the British invasion to Disco. Why stop there? Keep going. You have an eclectic taste in music, nourish it, don't extingush it.

  • @KyplayaZ4lyfe I'm still a fetus and I love music from the 1570s!

  • @Rogermiler dude...the 1570's?

    LOL

  • Well I'm only 158 years old but I love caveman knuckle-bones jungle-boogie music, so much better than this modern garbage.

  • @Rogermiler hell yeah. i hope i live to be 158!

  • @KyplayaZ4lyfe classic rock ftw

  • @billymayer1000 hell yeah! zeppelin, bad company, rolling stones, seger, it goes on and on.

  • Haha, I usually listen to rap music..but I love the Chordettes!

  • i like this all day except Sunday

  • why cant todays music be like this??? the music today is terrible...its having a pretty bad on society also...

  • @BleachKiki

Yeah, I feel sorry for the kids of today, they really missed out.....................they think their shit is good...............they have ne freakin idea!!! Ya gotta check out Connie's version of this!!!!!!!!!

  • @heavymetalurgist i was born in 95...im 15 but i love i really love this music <3....if i could have lived in this time i would have

  • @peliroja003 me too.. the 50's seem really cool..I love their clothes too

  • @hellokitty12 yea me 2...ahh we shoulda been around wen this music was around

  • @peliroja003 Aint that the truth...The least we could do is pretend we're still in that era lol

  • @hellokitty12 true....we gotta bring the 50's back(:

  • @peliroja003 Lol..I hate the crap society has to offer now..the music sucks and everything else just sucks :(

  • @BleachKiki there are so many different styles of music... are you suggesting that all music should sound the same? there is no music out there nowadays that is "good" for society?

  • @BleachKiki feel good music

  • @BleachKiki ...I AGREE WITH YOU MY DEAR.

  • There is music like this nowadays. You just seem to be incapable of finding it. But don’t blame this on anyone other than yourself.

  • @BleachKiki I totally agree, these kids today are totally stupid..I m grateful that my parents teached me what to listen

  • @BleachKiki music like this sucks to man even the music today sucks to mostly but this even more than. thats not the cause of the music dude, thats what the ppl doing theirselves, so a verry easy comment over there, witch age are u... 200????

  • @dickiedik5 It is the case with the music too. The lyrics of todays music can be quite trashy and dull. Alot of the times just about sex, drugs, and achohal. You know stuff like that, and I didn't really intend on it being a real deep comment. I didn't really expect it to get so much thumbs up. What do you mean with the 200 thing?

  • @BleachKiki no its not wiseguy, i am a metal fan to but not voilent and shit more so better think better throu if i were you, sex drugs and alcohol has nothing to with today music you can have it without all that shit to so, useless coment you have here, with 200 i mean youre age, looking at your comment.

  • @dickiedik5 no need to get angry, it's just a comment. I didn't post it to offend you, I'm not saying all music in general just many are in that genre. Comments never really have to be meaningful and deep, just putting out your opinions.

  • @BleachKiki haha it okay i m not angry, but some comments on youtube are so shortsighted and uselles, thats why mostly i have to react on it, cant help.

  • @dickiedik5 its totally fine, I can see what you mean. I see them all the time, its just when people watch a video they usually post the first thing that comes to mind.

  • @BleachKiki haha yess it is.

  • @BleachKiki - Because when people try to be like this today's children reject it and call it lame and stupid.

  • this is the best version of the song

  • this music is sick i love it

  • Every era has something good.

  • @is1531 Not mine!!!!!

  • this was back when music was good and you could understand it and sunday is the day of rest thats how it sound be
