God why do we have to live in the 21st century? But I guess it's okay we do since we wouldn't have the great luxuries like Youtube, very bloody video games, the great horror, thrillers, and action movies of the 21st century. My only wish is that 9/11 never happened since it ruined the American dream.
WHO ever Dislikes this you are gay go be emo am this song Rocks i wis it was the 30s 40s 50s Men were Suits Women Were Dresses and the cars homes People Are Nice God i would do any thing to live in that time
@GermanBlood8 Umm... the movie Never On Sunday was about a prostitute. But I guess she did wear dresses at least part of the time, so would meet your criteria. Personally, I'm glad to be done with McCarthyism, the Cold War, constant threat of nuclear annhilation (can you say "duck & cover"?), racial oppression, sexist oppression, etc - including no Internet, no Wiki, no YouTube, and so forth. Time marches on, each generation has its own trials and its own nostalgia.
I <3 it... I always hear it every Sunday in Philippine FM Radio stations.. several times a day. I just passed the nursing licensure exam and this reminds me of my taxi rides to Sunday review class!! :)
When we wake up to the truth of life, inspired music like this will emerge and flourish again, and all the uninspired crap that people call "music" these days will fade away and be forgotten. Search "Truth Contest" in Google and click the 1st result, then open The Present and read what it says to learn the truth of life.
Okay, and I'm three and a half, and I was born with an Ipod stuck in my ears, because I was listening to these nice ladies since my conception, and slammed Jimmy Hendrix and Buddy Holly on the umbilical cord.

@murtagh334 Are you kidding ? It's GREAT! I love the bouncy fun theme. It's great party music for a retro theme party. I had a fun 30th birthday party and played a lot of fun oldies from the 50's and early 60's. This is just perfect for parties. Close your eyes while hearing this song and think of a pool, lots of people, a barbecue, summer, and this song playing. It matches!
Does anyone know the name of the artist that sings the recent version on this which I heard on holiday in Zakynthos it was in English. Please comment if you know
This has got to be the #1 most covered oldie single song. Doris Day sang it, Connie Francis sang it and Petula Clark sang it. The first and original was a Greek pop singer but the English translation version was far more popular. I really love the Chordettes singing this but also Petula Clark who sings it very sweetly and beautifully.
@AmericanEvita The English version isn't a translation of the Greek. Check out a subtitled clip of the scene in "Never on Sunday" where Melina Mercouri sings the song. The lyrics are completely different.
i rem this on the radio but everyone should rem that back then they had to play so many tunes over and over again through the day cause by 1960 there may only have been an average of a couple hundred tunes made every year so us guys from back then know practically every word to every song from back then
This is the funniest version of Hatzidakis' song I've ever heard! The composer had said that he didn't care any more for song's luck cause he had been bored of so many versions he had heard of.
You had to listen it in the movie by the actress Merkouri.
WOW, I LOVE this song. I was browsing around on "The Andrews Sisters" then I saw "Never On Sunday" in suggestions... I listened to the song and I remembered that I've heard of this song before. Lol, my heart skipped a beat that day (which was like... yesterday) and just about a moment ago also, too HAHA!! This song is awesome.
:( when i got to school and ask my friends "ever heard of the chordetts" or "Know the andrew sisters?" and they say "no" they like rap D: ugghhhh i bet the 60's were awesome and 50's. :( i wish i could time travel because this music is giving my ears an ear orgasam lol.
@KyplayaZ4lyfe Yes, you do have good taste in music. There is nothing wrong with the music you do love but to dismiss all music past the 70's is not only sad, you are doing yourself a great disservice. You have already bridged the gap from swing to doo-wop to rock & roll to the British invasion to Disco. Why stop there? Keep going. You have an eclectic taste in music, nourish it, don't extingush it.

OH NO!!! UNLUCKY 13!!! "Never On Sunday" peaked at No. 13 and spent a total of 12 weeks in the Billboard's Top 100 in 1961...
(But then again; there are thousands and thousands of songs on You Tube that never charted at all)
Two other versions of this song have charted: also in 1961 Lale Anderson reached No. 88 and Don Costa topped out at No. 19 in 1960...
