i might be a white man from the outside but deep inside of me my heart is red and sad.......may your spirit fly in peace over the land of our fathers.....
I had just found out that he passed away several months ago. Mr. Tootoosis was such an amazing actor and is one of few favourite Canadian actors I love. I wish I had met him in person. Rest in peace.
He was like the Sitting Bull of today! Entered the world in the days of President Roosevelt(Even though he's Canadian) bringing joy to those who surrounded him and exited in the days of President Obama. To those of us here in the United States and in Canada and for everyone else, may your journey to the spirit world be blessed. But know this, Gordon, WE ALL LOVE YOU WITH ALL OUR HEARTS!!!! Now it is time to sing Shine Your Light by Robbie Robertson. Shine your light down on us!
A sad loss. My first sight of Gordon was on a film set in the prairies. They had built a replica of a 19th century town. He galloped in, riding bareback, at sunset with a lake in the background, with a couple of the other Indian actors. I talked to him a few times... I always thought of him as the true heir of Chief Dan George.
You walked proudly Gordon. I looked up to you when we went to Tech. Always quiet, strong with that twinkle of humour in your eyes. You will be missed by many - Natives as well as caucasians like me.
I will miss you Gordon. You were an inspiration to all aboriginal people and you are one of my biggest role models. You broke down the stereotypes that many non-aboriginal people had about our people. There is still work to be done and as a young aboriginal male I will do my best to honour your spirit and continue your work. hiy hiy.
Dear Gordon, Not only were you a wonderful man & a fine actor, but an important bridge of understanding between the First Nations people and the white people of both Saskatchewan and Canada. Thank you for all you gave us. May your spirit fly free as the eagle. All my relations
Dear Gordon, You will be missed, you were so blessed with a wonderful family, and I will never forget the wonderful lunch we had together at Joe Fortes, when you ventured to try grilled romaine for the first time
My husband, Ben Siemens, always talks about Gordon. I do remember him well from many films, but so much more since I have lived in Canada. My First Nations Culturres were lost from my familybefore I was born. They are in my blood, but I cannot prove them. All the Best Gordon.
