  • Can someone just tell me, if I'm buying a used 6.0. How much will I need to add to the purchase cost to consider it a reliable vehicle

  • @kwaky2005 if its done right and to the point of never having to worry about it, about 3-5k depending on what you have done.

  • @kwaky2005 There shit dont waste money on one go cummins or 7.3 powerstroke.

  • @svt89 6.0's aren't shit. Sure yeah its needs some money put into it, but after that its pretty solid and hell of lot faster than a sluggish 7.3. Only shit here is your grammar.

  • @MxRider710 ill say it again 6.0s are shit if you like blown head gaskets and bad oil coolers then the 6.0 is for you and o yeah crap injectors to lol.Any 7.3 will out last a 6.0 never seen more than 500k on a 6.0.And then you got the cummins we wont get into how damn good a cummins is.

  • @svt89 Head gaskets and oil coolers can all be solved easily if you know what you're doing. Injectors I've had no trouble at all with them even in harsh winter months. Highest mileage 6.0 I've seen personally was 325k on an 05. And Cummins, yes I love them. I sold my '96 12 valve with almost 440k on it and got this 6.0 because everyone said they were shit and I like experimenting and proving idiots wrong. With the money which ( I ) have you can make a 6.0 awesome and extremely reliable.

  • @MxRider710 We can go on and on about this point is the 6.0 was one of the worst diesels motors ever put in a truck. Not everybody wonts to put money into a truck they just bought.I got a 6.4 powerstroke 12mpgs stock crap egr coolers and dpf spent money for the deletes and the motor is still shit what did i get taking all that shit off 13mpg.The junk will be traded for another cummins i hate to say it but a duramax is better than a powerjoke.

  • @svt89 Yes, we can go on and on about it all day. You are right 6.0 biggest headache engine put on the market. Point is if you fix the problems the 6.0 has its actually turns out to be a heck of an engine, fast too. Yes, egr is the biggest piece of shit ever and deletes are pricey. But for the people that like tinkering and can do it all you can turn it into a one mean machine. But like you are basically saying most everyday guys don't go through all that just to make it good.

  • @MxRider710 Thats one of the main reasons im trading my 6.4 you cant do jack shit to the truck unless you wanna pull the cab off and not very many poeple have a lift take rise a cab.Thats why im going to a motor that you can work on nothing like a inline 6

  • @svt89 (continued) I do too see about 13.5 mpg city and around 18 ish highway going around 65-70mph. That's a v8 diesel for ya. And thats with all delete's, studs, fuel additives you name it. my cummins that I had I was seeing around 18mpg all around no matter how hard I was on the pedal. Cummins is still my all time favorite. But I don't like to be a fanboy like to try different things. However I don't really plan on looking for an 03-06 5.9 Manual in the near future. Save money on feul...

  • @MxRider710 That is what my work truck is 06 3500 mega cab 6spd i get 22-24mpg love it i dont have to stop at a gas station every 300miles lol.My first diesel was a 99 7.3 powerstroke got around 17-19 mpg it had the 6spd loved the truck.Thats why i gave the 6.4 a chance but that was the biggest mistake ever.

  • @svt89 Yeah filling up ever 300 some miles does put a toll on ya.With diesel at $3.90 right now and travelin to work pretty much kicks in ya where the sun don't shine. My first diesel was that 12 valve honestly only reason I got rid of it was the body and interior was complete junk, but it still ran like it had 100,000 miles on it.I just like projects. And I will say 6.0 and 6.4 are HUGE money pits. And glad we can see eye to eye on something instead of continuing to bicker at one another lol.

  • Best set of 6.0 mods: Guages: EGT, Boost, Trans Temp, ECT, EOT, Fuel pressue--- Upgraded Fuel pressure regulator (New Ford part)---- Strictly diesel regulated fuel return kit/banjo bolts--- EGR Delete--- Bulletproof Oil Cooler system--- Oil Bypass system--- 4" Turbo back exhaust. No cat, no muffler, exit over rear axle, no tail pipe--- CCV Mod--- H-11 Head studs (MUCH better than ARP's)--- Custom SCT tuning Those upgrades are extremely important to make a "lifer" of your diesel.
  • @jerbre not sure of the reasoning for the "no tail pipe" and trans gauge.

  • before doing any thing to the 6.0 change to arp studs and new head gaskets

  • so the 6.0 isn't as weak as it has been made out to be, if so, what do i have to do to mine to get it 'here' my understanding is the bottom end is solid, its the head gaskets due to the design of only 4 head bolts per cylinder, help is appreciated!!!!

  • EGR delete, a good set of injectors & fuel filter system, and a SCT tune with new head gaskets and ARP studs.

  • Do you have a shit kit installed. message me back
