My father was David Nalu n he played with Uncle Andy. I was a little girl than n they use to practice at house in Kakaako, so this song brings back lots of memories. My father passed in 1948 at the beginning of his music, he played the steel guitar. Mahalo
i know there are several versions of this song, but there is one in particular that i cant find...can anyone who knows help me out and name as many people or groups that did their rendition...aloha!
Thank you. You make me homesick. I have hula'd to this song a lot; maybe I'll do it again with your slide show in the background. Mainlanders don't always "get it." It's not just Waikiki. . . not the commercial zoo. It's the lights on the water, the smell of the ocean on sand, the breeze that envelopes you in the smell of plumeria or tuberose, the memories you make just walking on the beach. I forgot how much I miss it. Mahalo nui.
Wow! GigglingGirl Dont smack on my hometown people. Maybe you should stay away and is it possible that Hawaii don't treat White trash people like you real well?
or is it possible you are real ugly too. None of my home boys gave you a second thought? Poor Baby!!! Why dont you go visit Mexico?, they love you over there. They might even make you their Hoe............
These are just tourists. We don't swim at Waikiki it's full of sewerage spills right in the canal. We only swim at the North Shores where the waves are at least 60 feet.
They dont like us white people in Waikiki so we tend to go North isolated beaches and most of the beaches have no shower :( so terrible .
They are really racist towards us white girls too they call us "Haole Lolo Hupo" translate to "Stupid white fools" !!!
Hawaii is very dirty ghetto full of graffiti and homeless people.
@GigglingGirI Shame on you,Tiffany.Your resentful embittered post and woeful ineptitude at the Hawaiian vernacular is supposedly aimed at those who would not see what vapid, insipid, stupid mendacities you would concoct in the name of Haoles everywhere.Pathetic sad spoilt brat.Your childlike bellyaching makes me retch. If you want real Authentic racism towards non whites, fly back to Oz,and give the Abbos my regards.I've seen too many of your sort than I care to,mate
i made the mistake to make the bet against my friend whos dumb enough to do whatever for adollor to bet him he wouldnt swim out in the water at night. over here in california. and he got attacked by a shark. creepy shit i hate merky water!
thats not what i like about oahu its the wild life and and the nice tropical beaches cause i live in arizona which is boring and hot and dry and hate it here.
When it is too painful to listen to this heavenly mele', I know that Hawai'i and her people will always have a big and special place in my heart. I lived in Hawai'i for over twenty years and I still write love poems to her beauty and grace.
My local girl wife of 30 years and I are across the globe now, but you know where the spirit is. Perfect old song that captures the treasure of heaven on earth.
Your comments are great about waikiki, but realize the tourist dont care about so called "Tourist Traps'. They hear for a good time. Thats why they first end up in the Waikiki strip for a good time. once that
out of the way then checking out our beautiful "Island's" not really limit in that
waikiki is a tourist trap. believe me i live in honolulu. waikiki is a facade. it's not the real hawaii, go to the other islands if you want to get the real expireience.

Aloha was created by the hotels it isnt the real Hawaii. Travel to west on the Island you will find out. Bring a gun for protection. Locals are very prejudice even when your trying to help them.I have been attacked three times for no reason. Not all are like this but a handfull of people is all it takes . Lots of drugs and corruption going on .
Every state, every city for that matter has its "bad" area's. And its almost impossible for locals to be prejudice, because Hawaii is a melting pot, all of the ethnic groups marry into eachother, you are related to about 10 different ethnic groups once your a true "local".....with your negative attitude, you probabaly get beat up everywhere you go...Aloha like all beautiful things is created by God!
This Video was sent to me, in AUSTRALIA by a Friend in Seattle, Washington.Knowing how I LOVE and MISS Hawaii SO MUCH.I enjoyed remembering every second of it !
