I love Christmas in Germany. I was born there and grew up with the German christmas traditions and am passing it down to my children in America. I so miss the true feeling of christmas. Nothing more beautiful than German Christmas music.. Thank you for posting it.
Nobody does christmas like the Germans! I would love to visit during christmas. It would sure beat sweating and swatting mosquitos on christmas day like we do in the deep south.
So I must say I am from Germany and even if so many people from other countries say that Germany is a beautiful country, I say thank you on behalf of the Germans.
@lge8710094 Now I'm curious what your last name is ^^. I had this problem with a few Americans, I've met. Their last name was, f.ex. Schumacher - which is pronuned like shoemaker in the US, or their name was something like Weinstein (just an example) - which is pronounced like Vinesteen. Should I use the "English" version? Is it maybe even unpolite to use the correct German pronunciation? Help me out here! ;-)
@docpsy49 I'm pretty sure I can pronounce your Name ^^ But it's true - German names in general are really difficult to pronounce. I have a similar problem with my last name (it's French - ancestors were Huguenots) - and literally NOBODY can pronounce it here in Germany. Well, that's migration... ;-)))
Who translated this? "Freue, freue dich" translates to REJOICE, REJOICE, not Praise HIm, Praise Him.
And "Christ ist erschienen" means "Christ has appeared" or "Christ has come", NOT "in his lowly stall". Whatever translator did the translation shoudl be fired.
reading from some amis i'm ashamed. Most of us aren't that ignorant. Deustchland is greatt Christklindle or not. Habben sie eine shoones wiehnachten deustchland. (my germans a little rusty)
I'm German and Dutch. German Christmas traditions bring tears to my eyes, but regarding this carol, let's not forget to thank the people of Sicily, whose music this is.
Rude yanks? how about loud mouth english people who never shut up and and drink to much, just remember if it was not for the US MILITARY your tiny little island would be under water
@440sixpack1 As an American, I say you should keep your rude comments to yourself. You are the type of person to which he refers. You also seem to be under the impression that Germany is surrounded by water. I suggest you look at a map.
I'm not christian but this is class, pure class...I'm a New Englander but I would love to spend one Christmas in Germany. The cultural and holiday charm that you find in the US happens in isolated pockets, charming still the same however in pockets. This charm seems to be common to much of Germany from what I've seen.
Oh this song is wonderful! The church choir I'm a part of here in Austria did some similar songs for our annual church christmas album- check it out on my channel! Thanks and have a merry christmas!
Mastahfung what does your comment say in English. Only my Mother-in-law knows German. She is 100% my husband 50%. Him and I also like the movie you like Team America. I checked out your page. I laughed so many times watching that movie. Merry Christmas everyone!

I am an American...I don't know what rude comment my fellow countryman made but, this is a beautiful hymn....I would love to come to Germany at Christmastime and visit the Christmas markets....
@imsixftsix I am American, born here in California in 1955. My parents are of a Russian extraction, but my mother was born in Berlin, Germany in 1935. She had to live under Hitler. My family survived thanks to Albert Goering who didn't like the Nazis. If it wasn't for him, we would have been repatriated to Soviet Union. We had to deal with prejudice in the 1950's where they called the Russian Orthodox Church as a "communist church". My family fled Russia in 1920's. I hear you. Thanks for posting
So many hateful comments below. Oh well.. This music is beautiful!! My family has many German christmas CD's and this sounds very similar to one of my favorites!! Thank you for posting!

I love Germany at Christmas time and travel every from England.Nobody celebrates Christmas like the Germans, and the towns and Cities of your country are beautiful.I wouldn't pay too much attention to the Yank.I have been unfortunate to encounter many ignorant, loud mouth, yanks on my various travels around the world.I also know some very decent one's.
I was born in Nurmberg and now live in the U.S., Germany is a beautiful country especially during Christmas, i hope to oneday take my wife and daughter there for the Christmas Festival in Nurmberg....i just wish my Mom were here to enjoy it one more time......peace and Merry Christmas from the U.S.
I live in England but travel to ermany every December.I love the country and the people and the German culture is wonderful.I'm very sorry to hear about your mother.I'm sure your family will love Germany at Christmas time.Take care my friend.
@scowy68 I, too, love Christmas in Germany! I had been stationed there twice while in the Army and I miss seeing all the lovely towns, large and small, at Christmas. I hope one day to return, especially during that special time of year! Meanwhile, each year I order a tin chest of the Nurnberger Lebkuchen!
Though I am a "Yank", I take no offense. It is a sad fact that many of my countryman are rude and overbearing, failing to appreciate the German people and their culture.
@scowy68 Being a former Cold War GI stationed in Bad Hersfeld, Germany I only hear how much the GI's miss and loved being stationed in Germany. @scowy68 I'm American, but have German roots, and I'm very proud of them. Germany is absolutely beautiful. I guess it's my roots that draw me back there. I feel drawn to my homeland. =D
@scowy68= I apologize on behalf of my fellow Americans. Germany has the best Christmas celebrations. I would love to visit a Christmas market in Bavaria someday.
@scowy68 we aren't all ignorant, i'm not sure where that comes from. I think most of the American stereotypes come from backwoods hics. But at least we have loose gun laws compared to most nations, and I love that about America.
I don't get it, too. I really wonder what is going on in people's minds sometimes. This is a very nice version of this song. Can't wait to hear the choirs life in the churches this year around christmas time!
