I love Christmas in Germany. I was born there and grew up with the German christmas traditions and am passing it down to my children in America. I so miss the true feeling of christmas. Nothing more beautiful than German Christmas music.. Thank you for posting it.

@lge8710094 Now I'm curious what your last name is ^^. I had this problem with a few Americans, I've met. Their last name was, f.ex. Schumacher - which is pronuned like shoemaker in the US, or their name was something like Weinstein (just an example) - which is pronounced like Vinesteen. Should I use the "English" version? Is it maybe even unpolite to use the correct German pronunciation? Help me out here! ;-)

@docpsy49 I'm pretty sure I can pronounce your Name ^^ But it's true - German names in general are really difficult to pronounce. I have a similar problem with my last name (it's French - ancestors were Huguenots) - and literally NOBODY can pronounce it here in Germany. Well, that's migration... ;-)))

Who translated this? "Freue, freue dich" translates to REJOICE, REJOICE, not Praise HIm, Praise Him.

And "Christ ist erschienen" means "Christ has appeared" or "Christ has come", NOT "in his lowly stall". Whatever translator did the translation shoudl be fired.

I'm not christian but this is class,pure class...I'm a New Englander but I would love to spend one Christmas in Germany.The cultural and holiday charm that you find in the US happens in isolated pockets,charming still the same however in pockets.This charm seems to be common to much of Germany from what I've seen.

@imsixftsix I am American, born here in California in 1955. My parents are of a Russian extraction, but my mother was born in Berlin, Germany in 1935. She had to live under Hitler. My family survived thanks to Albert Goering who didn't like the Nazis. If it wasn't for him, we would have been repatriated to Soviet Union. We had to deal with prejudice in the 1950's where they called the Russian Orthodox Church as a "communist church". My family fled Russia in 1920's. I hear you. Thanks for posting

@scowy68 I, too, love Christmas in Germany! I had been stationed there twice while in the Army and I miss seeing all the lovely towns, large and small, at Christmas. I hope one day to return, especially during that special time of year! Meanwhile, each year I order a tin chest of the Nurnberger Lebkuchen!

Though I am a "Yank", I take no offense. It is a sad fact that many of my countryman are rude and overbearing, failing to appreciate the German people and their culture.
