@pavelow235 I owned a '07 Versys, and took the bike on a 4500km run. All stock gearing, tires, seat, etc, used the Givi hard bags with a tailpack bag. My first bike, and didn't have any issues or problems on the trip. Exceded US hwy speeds, handled well in the rain. I would rec. one for a day to day drive, AND a tourer. Hope this helps.
@ScourgeDCP if he put his foot down on every corner he'd either change gear or hit his break, which he doesn't appear to be doing. I'm thinking you don't ride?
Ive had this machine for a year now and I love it. There are aftermarket products available such as a lowering kit for shorter riders. I outfited mine with a Two Brothers racing slip on and Juice Box and it really feels more like a sport bike capable of keeping up with the best of them.
What is wrong with this guy? He keeps putting his foot down like a total idiot. He is also riding way too close to the yellow line. Either this guy is trying to kill himself or he has way too little experience to review a motorcycle with any authority.
I realize you don't want to be putting your foot down like that on pavement...but, by the same token, isn't that accepted style on dirt? Like fiddy says said...maybe he has a supermoto background (old habits are tough to break)? Otherwise...It's a good review. I'm glad to hear a personal real world opinion for once, not just a reading of the tech specs....I found it very helpful.
I must say, I don't ride yet, but with respect to the "too close to the yellow line" thing: he is probably on a closed course, so he has some freedom to move around.
No way the wee strom is better off road for sure

How comfortable would this bike be for a tourer...say a several thousand mile tour.

4:08 Sunglasses + dark shield = muthafacking cool. Good review, tho. I'm really hoping to trade my old bike in for a versys.

@ScourgeDCP It's the Motard Style. Super motard can keep up with sport bike easily.

I personally like VStrom more than the Versys..

It looks so cool and retro, looks like a 1970's bike.
The 09 black is the one i'd like, but the 08 blue looks retro and cool and would be my 2nd choice.
Excellent bike :D

my only problem with the versys is that the engine has NO PULL from 75 mph onward...maybe 80 mph onward.

My current bike is a KTM duke ll. It is a simple beast, but I love it.

Putting the foot down is a dirt/supermoto thing.
I have this bike and it's fantastic, definitely one of the best bikes I have ever owned.

Yeah, lol, that foot thing is strange! Maybe the rider has a supermoto background?
