  • ok so... what workouts are preferred as "intensity" ? examples please

  • *search bar

  • @MarioLuisTV type scooby1961 afterburn into the seatch bar in youtube and watch his video about the afterburn affect. I think he explains it slightly better

  • How do you burn calories after you workout?! It doens't explain that...

  • Wicked. Thats the answer I've been looking for regarding H.I. workouts vs. longer, more drawn out workout regimes that focus on one muslce or muscle group, as opposed to full body workouts.

    Very infomative. Thanks very much.

  • mmmm that looks lie a stake

  • when he said "excuse my drawing" and drew that line i was like WOOOWWW

  • what kind of thing do i have to do cz i didnt understand a word lol please tell me what should i do

  • @hazaMA7ELO what , you speak spanish?

  • thanks!!!

  • Real good man!! This is actually working on me as good as your explanation!! thanks...

  • Anyone else tilted their head the whole video?..

  • Mike chang has great information and you cant blame him for not giving out the very valuable information you need but he;s a personal trainer so he cant otherwise he wont have any business by the way great video :)

  • @CFMusicProductions you are right :)

  • He does the "mkay, so ..." just like Mike. Hehe.

  • i need the exersises for these sort of work outs :(

  • Very nice

Love how this assumes we are actually intelligent and doesnt try to over-simplify just because of some stupid comments on other videos (in general), cause 99% of us probably will understand this...

lol anyway gr8 vid!! keep it up

  • Appreciated.

  • A 1 tks just what i needed to know best info for afterburn

  • So is i did a quick 20 min intense hard working workout, what would i do after that? not exercise after that for 48 hours? Thankyou.

  • So would lifting heavy weights like 5 sets of 5 with all compound exercises trigger this effect, I also do high intensity short term cardio after every workout.

  • r u friends with mike chang from sixpackshortcuts?

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU SAVED A LOT OF PEOPLE TIME, MONEY, AND PATIENCE. IF ONLY MORE PEOPLE TOLD THE TRUTH OR JUST LAYED THE FACTS DOWN..............

  • man, i was doing this without even knowing it! I didn't have time to workout so I'd do super intense workouts for 30mins max every morning... it would have been great to learn this before hand

  • this is great info!!! Thank you.

  • very well explained!

  • VERY WELL EXPLAIN

  • so if i done 30 minutes of high interval training each day 3 days a week is that good fat burn and use the afterburn affect?

  • why the hell does this vid has dislikes?????? WTF is wrong with the people that dislikes this??

  • @generalziz i was just thinking the same thing! lol

  • @generalziz I liked it too, but maybe its just that its only a marker drawn graph on paper, looks impressive, but where are the studies the information coming from and are the levels represented accurately?

  • @Dann7000 Just look at all the people that listens to traditionnal, clinical knowledge? Are they ripped? Are they attractive? Chances are they're not, or else they're wasting their life on a threadmill. Ask someone who's used to high intensity workout if it works, they'll tell you it does. Do you really need more studies to confirm the rules?

Moreover, this graph maybe isn't to the scale, but it's pretty closely accurate to the real thing.

  • sixpackshortcuts sent me :)

  • That's why boxing is such a great workout.

  • obviously the metabolism is a LOT more complicated than that graph, but it's a good representation. i think the aftterburn effect is a bit smaller and the high intensity exercises burn a bit more carbohydrates than that personally.

  • Can any knowledgeable person confirm this?

  • @srb8522 just about every lean athlete

  • he is surely having gay sex with mike chan. LOL

  • he is surely having gay sex with mike chan. LOL

  • Excellent and believable explanation. Thank you!!!!

  • is that a little bit exaggerated? i'm not sure if doing HIIT type exercise will create that huge of a deficit, as is graphically represented in the picture... i'm not saying that it doesn't, but not as much as you drew it out to be lol

  • I agree with Alcohaulins - S.P.S touched on it, but it wasn't fully explained. Thanks very much, makes perfect sense now!

  • any links to show that this has been scientifically proven?

  • The "AfterBurn Effect" is just raising your metabolism. Your basically doing your normal weight's (So heavy if you do heavy) But with veeeery little to no rest time. You want to be fast, but intense. It's basically HIIT, High Intnsity Interval Training. All it is is doing compound movements (movements that uses more than one muscle). Bench. Squats. Deadlifts. Rows. That's all you need to know. But regardless it's all about intensity. Go hard or don't go at all.

    Your Welcome.

  • @justcallmeDiesel Exactly. I'll say it in even less words. TRY HARDER YOU FAT FUCKS.

  • you still burn fat calories doing normal exersise it dont matter where the calories are burned from as the body will still break down fat into sugar if in a calorie defcit so the video is misleading.the goal of after burn is calories burnt extra calories after exersise thus the after in after burn

  • That's why I love to do "M-100"

  • So what if you eat something with much carbohydrates afterwards to "recover"? Usually you get recommended to eat like a banana or something, but if you add extra carbohydrates, will the body not enter the fat burning zone?

  • @derfpa1 carbs are not really used for recovery. carbs are used for energy. protein is was is used to recover muscles.

  • i always wondered why ive been losing heaps of body fat when i changed from long exercise routines to shorter more intense ones..

Thanks to Sixpackshortcuts for bringing me here and thanks to maxworkouts for the epic graph work =P and explanation.

    Subbed ^_^

  • asians r taking all overXD

  • When trying to maximize this afterburn effect you have to realize that fat is a much more concentrated with energy than is a carbohydrate (glycogen) so to lost say 1 gram of glycogen your body has stored you may have to use x amount of energy but to lose 1 gram of fat your body has you will have to use around 3x the amount of energy you used for the glycogen.

  • Holy shit it all makes sense to me now...

  • can u give us some specifics?

like a 200 pound man works out for xx time and burns xx calories and gets xx afterburn? cause the chart leads me to believe that 10 mins of intense excercise is better than 2 hours of running or something like that

  • @noldorian86 would aso want to know this but im only 154

  • @noldorian86 I agree completely. I'm only a 9th grader, but I've been hearing about afterburn all the time -- if you achieve afterburn from 20-30 mins of "high intensity cardio", why can't you go further, and push yourself to 40, 50, or 60 minutes? Does afterburn ONLY work when it's short, but sweet? Even if you're not working as hard 20 minutes after the cardio, you've already gotten the afterburn effect, haven't you... ?

  • @Desmond8043 If you can still go on for twice the time, in most cases, that would mean your initial workout wasn't intense enough. You should be completely exhausted after the 20 min session. Try sprinting nonstop for 2 min. It will be extremely difficult, and that's intense.

  • @noldorian86 Well like he said at the end of the video, it's about how intense your workout is

  • Thank you.

  • This is flipping biology =.=

  • @minge9 pretty much i am in 9th grade and take biology and we just finished learning about energy (i.e. Carbs, GLYCOGEN, and fat)

  • Excellent diagram and explanation. Made it very easy for a simpleton like me to understand :)

  • Do you have any kind of afterburn workout on your vids? :D

Will I activate it using Full body workouts?

  • The "AfterBurn Effect" is just raising your metabolism. Your basically doing your normal weight's (So heavy if you do heavy) But with veeeery little to no rest time. You want to be fast, but intense. It's basically HIIT, High Intnsity Interval Training. All it is is doing compound movements (movements that uses more than one muscle). Bench. Squats. Deadlifts. Your Welcome.

  • @justcallmeDiesel thank you, so much. :-)

  • @justcallmeDiesel

    Would jogging burn fat?

  • @EntFunny

Interval running. Jogging with small spurts of sprinting. Jog for 30 seconds then sprint for 15 then back to joggoing. Do that for about 15 minutes

  • @justcallmeDiesel would this work with ab exercises? if yes, how so?

  • This was extremely educating, thank you very much!

  • what is the best foods to eat to eat healthy? any help appreciated thanks

  • @kingj200000 you don't need a super strict diet, you just don't need to eat all this things you know (McDonalds, hmburgers, fried meat, buns, fizzy drinks...)

For example you can eat: rice, lentils, beef(not fried, grill for example its better), verdure, salads, tomatoes, fruits, tuna, fish...

Avoid greasy food, and eat a banana after your training sesion

  • i have a question if anyone can answer this?. . . what about if you work out for long periods of time at high intensity?

  • ...ok i get this intense training and shit but... what kind of intense training.. define it like.. faster, heavier weights..

  • Comment removed

  • Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

  • IS THAT MEAN THAT WE BETTER NOT TAKE SUGAR BEFORE EXERCISE.

AFTERBURN PERIOD, FOR HOW LONG IT LAST?

INTENSITY WORKOUT LIKE WHAT? ANY EXAMPLE?

  • why do you need to go into detailed scientific shit, just show us an example of the workout.

  • cool brah, ill try this shit

  • Damn he draws straight lines.....

  • @zxcasdqwe12364 his eyes are a ruler ;)

  • @zxcasdqwe12364 hes asian...

  • @zxcasdqwe12364 LOL. Wow! That's straighter than a ruler!

  • are you going to show us the after burn workout...?

  • sixpackshortcuts told us about it, but not this indeep like you did.. damn.. thanks man.. one of the best ''work-out'' vids on youtube!

  • @Alcohaulins Mike Chang has great videos, but he always jumps around the explanation for the afterburn to try and market his product,

  • @jik1992 yeah i was mad about that after watching it for 20 mins still expecting atleast something. Dont tell us ur gonna show us if ur not. Thats tricking. Tell us ur gonna give us info. He is a good trainer though

  • oh my gosh thank you i didn't know this

  • excelling shin, im using you and your very easy to follow as a diet, i was using 7kg weights just for ten mins every other day so im defiintley going to do the excercise you showed us with your wife! thanks so much and keep them coming. ive a belly flab after 4 kids and need my abs to be carved out so help please!! Lisa from Ireland.
