Loved this track back in '89, especially the other hilarious version that starts witht the Monkees soundtrack, then the bloke with the Sopranos accent saying, "Hey Shameek, what the fuck are ya doing there's a fucking crowd there!!"
This is one of my favorite albums of all time. It banged from beginning to end, plus any group that let their dj go wild on the track always got my attention.
I used to jam to this along with Doug Lazy, Fast Eddie and others. Big up to Twin Hype and King Shameek for doing what shoud have continued if Gansta Rap didnt take over and House Music going commercial. However, I prefer my music to be underground so be it as it is...Im just glad Hip House did exist and may return hmm...
@DIrtyfighter: this track is tedious and I would have to really be bored one day to sit and count the samples used. Lol.
I will say this, everything in this track was samples, nothing programed, everything was triggered in live with a sampler or scratched. The main drum loop was the only thing looped with a sampler. The rest was done in editing reel to reel tape. Wooow reel to reel, remember those days? Lol
Classic here folks, I miss the days when a DJ would actually create a tapestry of sound with purpose! Shameek, this song stays on my MP3 after all these years, one of the best tracks of all time.
How many samples did you use in this one? I try to identify all of them, just great use of bits and pieces to form something new. True hip hop.
