I had a GLS 4x4 from new, did 80000 and never touched it other than routine stuff, great cars and the turbo conversion really upped that paltry 150 bhp.. nice car
@peaceman1234567 You`re obviously a very insecure and shallow person who finds it difficult to express himself intelligently or with confidence - or did you just fall asleep with your finger on the `z` key?
i can honstly say id rather have my xr4x4 as said there rarer NOT nasty to look at and they a hell of alot more reliable than the cossi, put a turbo technics conversion on and its as fast as a cossi with more reliability, the xr's might not have the pedegree of the cossi but there no less of a car, dont get me wrong i love the cosworths id have 1 but there not the best cars in the world and id still keep my xr, i only wish mine was as good as this 1.
An RS500 would cost 10 times as much to buy, more to insure, alot more WHEN it goes wrong, apart from the fact that mine is similar 0-60 but quicker through the gears and has around 70lbs more torque.
This is an XR4x4 not an XR4i and the only thing wrong with the factory ones was that they could handle alot more power - so thats why they were such a good basis for a TT conversion. As for an RS500, yes it would be nice but its not an everyday practical sort of car and I reckon theres more of those around than original TT Xr4x4`s!
thats not a 4i tho is it its a xr4x4 and there way better than the cossi as unlike the cossi these arent common as muck and lets not forget without the xr4x4 there would have never been a cossi 4x4.
very, VERY sexy, dude... such a tidy motor you have, nice job, good to see someone take such pride in a car that to some would just be a generic car but to us they are nostalgic and beautiful motors!!
Really?, RS2000 are really rare, lucky to find one for sale, i found a mk2 RS2000 and it had 20,000 on it. the mk1s we get here are just the 1.3L 1.1L and 1.6Land some with a L cortina conversion... havent seen a XR4x4 before in NZ
if theres supossedly a twin turbo on there, how come you dont show it, how come you dont have a turbo exhaust, how come everything is stock and you dont even have a boost gauge? And how come your selling it so cheap?
Where do I start? Believe me there are 2 turbos under the bonnet but it was difficult opening the bonnet and holding the camera at the same time! Whats a turbo exhaust look like? If you mean one with a tailpipe the size of a dustbin it would do nothing apart from make me look like a Corsa driving chav. The car wasnt built with a boost gauge-everything is standard because thats how I want it and thats how it was built. Its not actually for sale anymore
I'd like to see a video of your engine bay please, and what are the mods you did to the engine? Did you at least change the suspension or brakes? Adding alot of horsepower like that would be reckless without the proper handling modifications. Also what did it get on the dyno and the 1/4?
absolutely lush mate. the only thing id change, only if i were bein picky, would b a set of sierra cosworth recaros. thats it! maybe original lights too.
It was an option for most Fords of the time including the Sierra (I`ve still got the accessory brochure to prove it!) , as far as I know it was only the Escort RS1600i that had one as a standard fitment
shut the door...

Theres not as many about now as 6 years ago and good ones seem to be going up in price - get one now before they end up like mk1 Escorts!!
utubejule 2 years ago
mk1 escorts? man wat are they worth in your end of the woods? in old nzl i could pick a tidy standard one up for $3,000, a rotor one for 6 =D
dhmtnbikeman 2 years ago
£3000 Sterling would get a mk1 Escort that would need alot of work and £10,000+ would get a good RS2000 - what are XR4x4`s like in NZ?

its a 225bhp/270lbs ft torque model and I get an average of 25mpg. its a 2.9 v6 TWIN turbo not a 4 cylinder 2 litre single turbo...
utubejule 2 years ago

Turbo Tecnics did a single turbo and a twin turbo version of the cologne 2.9 v6 they also did a single turbo version of the 2.0i DOHC I4 Ford Engine.
Mint car by the way

V6 Cortinas and Sierras were great. It's a shame there's so few of either left now, and it's great that you've kept this one looking so original.
