I grew up in the 70's and shopped at what was then Woolco and drank orange juice at Orange Julius at that carpeted funky little stand outside the Woolco entrance and rode the little rides. In the 80's I spent my first paycheques at BiWay and bought my magazines at Butts and Bows. I remember as a kid there was a ramp with rumble strips at the side of Loblaws (later Zehrs) and i got to ride in the cart for that bit, lol.
well theyve torn down the other entrance at the zehr, where the pet store and jewlery shop were. The one half of the mall is still standing which would be the old theatre. Can someone video tape the old theatre demo because im interested to see what they left in the theatre. Wall Mart leaving the mall is what in the end killed it. After they moved it went all down hill
Whoa whoa whoa! WHAT?! Demolition day? What are you talking about??? What's going on?! I live in Brantford, but I've been over here in Europe for the past year so I don't know what's happening. What's going on with the Brantford Mall?! Somebody talk to me! :-/
Whaaaaaaaaaaaat? That's retarded. So us in the north end are going to be left with the one Zehr's on Fairview Drive now? What about Walmart? Are they demolishing that too? That's an odd place to put a commercial power centre. What's going to happen with the cinema? Thanks for filling me in on what's going down. It sucks though....
Whoops! Never mind. I had a different image in mind of what a power centre is. I just did a search for Brantford Mall, so I have an idea of what's happening now. Well, while I prefer malls much more, I like that they're building an eight-screen Galaxy Cinema.
Good video. IT really is a sharp contrast to when I shot the original video in 1990. It's really too bad that it ended up like it is now. I saw it myself when I was there with my girl friend back in June when we came up for the day. I was a cozy mall and it was already spoiled when they built the Zehrs back in 1995.
I spent about two hours today removing the wall mural where the LCBO used to be and it was strange.... so quite and desolate... a real ghost town of what it used to be. On Monday they start to tear it down.
I don't think I remember seeing the mural between the cinema and the LCBO store although I didn't know where it was after it was gone from the back across from the arcade where them Zehrs store is now. I did see a mural after watching the video a second time though, not far from the front entrance.
I also remember the shapes on the floor as a kid, the big traingle square and circle tiles...

It's being demolished and the site is turning into a commercial power centre.

Oh yeah that could be confusing if your thinking about where the LCBO was in the early 90s. This is where the Bell City Restaurant used to be.
