80s Transvestite Clown Hookers with fast, loud, ridiculous guitars and screeechy castrato vocals...fire and huge amps...seriously, what's not to like! it's so awesomely bad it's just awesome.
pretty sure some of the guitar is speeded up tape...not that is inhumanly fast, just SOUNDS a bit chipmunk-ish in spots...
I'm not going to apologize, this video is 80's metal! I remember watching it on Headbangers Ball and we about went crazy when that dude jumped down while on fire, all while the band was trashing the stage. It was crazy, it sucked, but it was hilarious and it rocked!
I loved this whole album. Vinnie can jam and write songs but I don't think he fit in KISS or any other band. Vinnie was a star. He was not made to be just a lead guitar player of a band. Kiss did not fit what vinnie needed and vinnie did not fit what KISS needed. I think I'm gonna go dig up this tape and see if it still plays.
These guys look like hard bitches, running in the halls of hell. Vinnie is pretty scary even though he is dressed pretty. The singer looks very sure of himself. Dana on bass is doing some heavy pouting. The drummer....well.... looks pissed off full of metal.
here's a little info for ya, Vinnie Wrote this song for Kiss and they did actually demo it. but in the end i guess they didnt wanna record it... i have a bootleg album of Vinnie and it has this song with kiss on it!
@glamdog69 they changed the whole song...lol. sounds nothing like boyz...everything is different guitars drums lyrics, so in my eyes that would make it a different song :-)
@Imtherealsaturnsonic If you listen to the original Warrior demo of Boyz are Gonna Rock and then listen Kiss's On the 8th Day the verse riffs are exactly the same..
i like vvi but this song.... ehh. and WHAT!?! mark slaughter is a fricken God! how can anyone think robert fleischman or whatever his name is tops mark!? i think mark had a very VERY big impact on vvi and they couldn't have gotten the little success they did without him.
Does anyone else see that the singer in this videoclip is Mark Slaughter who didn't sing this song but only appeared on the next VVI record "All system go"?
Personnaly I think that Robert Fleischman who sang on the first record had a better voice...
You are asking whether this singer is Mark Slaughter? I don't think he looks like him and I know it was Robert Fleischman who sang for this album. But I do agree that Robert Fleischman had better voice. I also think Mark Slaughter sounded better with Vinnie Vincent Invasion than was with Slaughter.
@ mikebeange how is having big hair and wearing make up gay tell me exactly. Plus yer just mad because he did better then what he did with kiss i love kiss and all but i have to give thumps up to vinnie
My buddy and I met these guys in 1976 at the Sound Warehouse album signing in 1986, when they were here, opening for Iron Maiden. The guys signed my Vinyl Album (the first one) and I still have it, in MINT condition! The guys were cool, except for the drummer, who was full of himself. Vinny seemed especially grateful to see the crowd. Funny thing is, they were all glammed up, with Vinny's hair looking like Tina Turner's hair in the 80's!

He did help resurrect Kiss, but on this album he sounded like he was sucking lemons!! ACE IS THE MAN!!! Mark ST. John was better than Vinny could ever hope of being.

This is ssooo bad that it's good! Takes tackiness off the charts! I love when the pissed-off Paul Stanley look alike drummer hits the two cymbals placed behind him. Classic. Horrible lyrics set to lots of 'splosions, sparks and a hot pink over-shredded Spinal Tap guitar solo complete with sexual implications. They didn't need to, but I love the addition of the flailing flame suit guy jumping from the scaffolding. Thumbs up!
saying this vid (and VV himself) is over the top is an understatement...ridiculous is a more appropriate word. The guy can play guitar...he just chooses not to. And WTF is up with his tone?...it's scratchy, shrill and just horrible...wouldn't hurt to use the pickup selector every once in a while, at least. Finally, what does destroying the set have to do with "rocking"?...that's the most cliche' thing you can do (unless you're The Who).
Why are people even commenting about his guitar playing prowess on this thread when this guy can't even play guitar? A couple of power chords alternating with lightning fast scales and repetitive series of 3-4 notes does not require skill. I don't hear any creative melodic lines or a catchy hook.

@VinceTheInstructer50 The image is call Glam.. You may remember alot of bands in the late 80s that did this kind of thing?? No??? I personally think it's great and far from boring like todays music scene offers up...
@glamdog69 I know almost every glam bands in the 80s i'm a big fan of this kind of music.. But VVI really had their own style like no other., i mean try to find a band with extreme high vocals like this (they are the only one) listen to about 30 second of VVI you will know it's them right away.. And how about Vinnie's guitar playing? no other like him... I totally agree with you today's music sucks..
About the whole "sped up sound," it does mention it in the cassette jacket that it was sped up a half step. If you tune your guitar to this album, you will notice that you will have to tune a half step above standard tuning.
Slaughter was contrived and didn't have the same talent level, they did well for the time period right at the break of grunge and then faded away like all the rest of them. Nothing new there...
MURFREESBORO — A former KISS guitarist is accused of beating his wife so badly she had to be hospitalized this past weekend, and when officers went to the guitarist’s home to make an arrest they found four sealed containers with dead dogs inside. A booking officer confirmed Vinnie Vincent, whose real name is Vincent John Cusano, was charged with one count of aggravated assault on Saturday.
It's a shame, just read on ultimate guitar that Vinnie was arrested for assaulting his wife. There also some other disturbing things that I'd rather not mention. My point is that Vinnie went from Kickass guitarist to criminal =(
I'm skeptical. Vinnie Vincent is about my height and weight. I just cannot envision Vinnie Vincent dragging a woman through a pile of glass. My "bitchdar" is going off.
It's gross that he didn't bury his dogs, but I've heard of dogs killing other dogs. The alpha male is pretty fucking aggressive toward other dogs.
@riverlioness I actually found out he wont be charged for the dogs because turns out the weather was too horrible for a proper burial for them, and yes the 'bitchdar" does seem to go off when they mention his wife.
This... just... doesn't. Smashing instruments? Sorry kids, The Who did that 20 years before this - it was old when these guys did it. The 1980s glamrock thing just looks so schlocky now.
Plus, Vinnie is pure 80's shredder. All speed no soul. Not my bag at all.
@zoso8t0 I understand what ur saying dude, but I wasn't even alive during this time, but I think it's awesome. Yea, VVI look is way over-the-top, but that's what's they were going for.
Also, I got to disagree with Vinnie being pure 80's shredder. Sure that's some of what he did, but he also came up with good riffs and most importantly, good songs. If it wasn't for him, KISS would of died, so he's much more than "pure 80's shredder"
He made no difference to the survival of Kiss at all. His ego got him kicked out cos he thought he WAS Kiss. He wasn't with them that long and they would have collapsed after he left if he had been THAT important. He may as well have been a session player for the difference he made to them. Having said that, don't get me wrong, I like him and think he could have done vastly better than he did if he hadn't been so full of himself.
@janejeff1 He made a difference because of his songwriting contributions to KISS. They were on the brink of collapsing after The Elder (which is a very good record) and he injected life into the band with "Creatures" and "Lick it Up." Also, its not like Paul and Gene were the easiest people to work with at that time too.
I agree that ego got in the way and he could have been much better if it was not for that. However, the guy remains of my favorites and I want new music from him!
This is Robert Fleischman (formerly of Journey) singing on the first album. Fleischman claims the record was 'sped up' to make Vinnie's solos sound faster... and therefore the pitch of his voice was higher than in real life. Rob was axed & Mark Slaughter was brought in because he had a naturally higher voice. The joke was on Vinnie.. Chrysalis Records kicked him off the label and gave the contract to Mark and Dana Strum.. which as we know evolved into the extremely successful Slaughter band.
@JesusAteMyPizza I never heard the album speed thing, but it wouldn't surprise me.. that being said he's still an insane guitar player and pretty much nailed the material live and sometimes played faster than the record.... Never liked Slaughter too much.. had a few good tracks but prefered the VVI :)
I took Mark Slaughter ( his vocals on this song)as a direct inusult! Note to VVI ,GIrls rock too !

They were a great band. I saw them open for Iron Maiden in Sacramento. I remember it was on a Friday the 13th.

Is that Dana Strum? Look at him then and now! Vince Neil Band.

About the whole "sped up sound," it does mention it in the cassette jacket that it was sped up a half step. If you tune your guitar to this album, you will notice that you will have to tune a half step above standard tuning.

They should have called these 80's bands "Tranny Metal" instead of "Hair Bands".

Slaughter was contrived and didn't have the same talent level, they did well for the time period right at the break of grunge and then faded away like all the rest of them. Nothing new there...

I really feel sorry for Vinnie after hearing the news recently. I always liked Vinnie, but the news makes me sad. His life is realy ruined.

Forget his recent arrest. The real crime is this abomination of a song/video.

Toon696969 9 months ago
It's a shame, just read on ultimate guitar that Vinnie was arrested for assaulting his wife. There also some other disturbing things that I'd rather not mention. My point is that Vinnie went from Kickass guitarist to criminal =(

@RitchieBlackmore124
The alpha male is pretty fucking aggressive toward other dogs.
riverlioness 7 months ago
@riverlioness I actually found out he wont be charged for the dogs because turns out the weather was too horrible for a proper burial for them, and yes the 'bitchdar" does seem to go off when they mention his wife.

Oh dear. Some things age well, some don't.
This... just... doesn't. Smashing instruments? Sorry kids, The Who did that 20 years before this - it was old when these guys did it. The 1980s glamrock thing just looks so schlocky now.
Plus, Vinnie is pure 80's shredder. All speed no soul. Not my bag at all.
zoso8t0 10 months ago
@zoso8t0 I understand what ur saying dude, but I wasn't even alive during this time, but I think it's awesome. Yea, VVI look is way over-the-top, but that's what's they were going for.
Also, I got to disagree with Vinnie being pure 80's shredder. Sure that's some of what he did, but he also came up with good riffs and most importantly, good songs. If it wasn't for him, KISS would of died, so he's much more than "pure 80's shredder"
BalazsJOUR3150 10 months ago
@BalazsJOUR3150
He made no difference to the survival of Kiss at all. His ego got him kicked out cos he thought he WAS Kiss. He wasn't with them that long and they would have collapsed after he left if he had been THAT important. He may as well have been a session player for the difference he made to them. Having said that, don't get me wrong, I like him and think he could have done vastly better than he did if he hadn't been so full of himself.
janejeff1 9 months ago

JesusAteMyPizza 10 months ago 9
@JesusAteMyPizza I never heard the album speed thing, but it wouldn't surprise me.. that being said he's still an insane guitar player and pretty much nailed the material live and sometimes played faster than the record.... Never liked Slaughter too much.. had a few good tracks but prefered the VVI :)
