  • brava, forse la migliore dopo callas

  • at 8:28 - when she sings "erano figli tuoi" I get goose-bumps! A phrase sung in such as way as to never be forgotten! The essence of the difference between Medea and Norma!

  • Well....I am REALLY impressed!!!! Until today I have not heard a soprano worth listening to in this role other than Callas. But I REALLY enjoy Gencer's performance here. Still not as much as Callas...but at least she is comparable. Thank you for posting.

  • very nicy sound she had passion....but as i say for gencer's norma she is the best dramatico soprano after Callas....my opinion....thank you for this post!!!

  • Fantastic, this finale scene is incredibly demanding!

  • Medea must be one of the most difficult opera for a dramatic soprano and Gencer handles it very well here. However Medea is really a heavy role for her spinto voice and she didn't sing it very often (maybe she sang it only once in all her career).

  • @sezgin86 I believe she sang twice: In Venice first and then in Geneva.

  • @whipittome No, she sang it only once In venice

  • @whipittome Sorry, I was looking at Gencer's chronology and saw thar she sang it twice. First Venice and second Geneva as you said.

  • @sezgin86 thank god she did though right?

  • @moghedien13 Of course :)

  • Beccatevi questa!

  • Such authority! A great artist who did nothing but respect the composer's wishes at all times!!
