  • Does Chris know you stole his Ricky? Nice Vid

  • Dude...this is an awesome video... A fantastic song and you capture Chris Squire's playing perfectly!!!

  • One of the all time Christmas classics

  • Cool concept to highlight the bass. Nice performance too. You should do other Yes songs as well. Future Times perhaps

  • @howedelamitri or Silent Wings of Freedom?

  • @drewsmilitia Why don't you go lick a duck! This song is great.

  • Why isn't this song played on the radio?

  • a traditional christmas song for me. dunno why no one else knows it, it's amazing!

  • all year we run with the hounds, but during Yuletide, we should see the world from the eyes of the fox.

  • Solo'd horseshoe pickup FTW

  • great sound/tone!!

  • I don't know this fella but already I like him. Good stuff Miguel!

  • Great memories and fun vid thanks

  • @TheHendonKissArmy thank you!

  • God I so LOVE this song...!! (and have loved it since buying that YesYears set 15 years ago!! :-) In hearing it right now.. June 2011... I still cannot understand why this is not a Christmas standard!! It's just SO GOOD!! :-) But then again.. it's too good for Christmas radio!! So let's just keep it as our secret!! :-) Oh and GREAT job on the video and bass playing!! Very Cool!! :-)

  • @itsstillfriday Indeed, much more than a xmas song. Thanks :)

  • I love this guy!

  • @Dosdas :) Thanks!!

  • wow you did a good job

  • @timguitarmac thank you!

  • Miguel, when are you going to replace Chris in Yes? He's getting kind of old.

  • @curiousted Chris is like Port-wine ;)

  • One of my favorite Christmas songs of all time.

  • @jklighthouse No doubt - thanks for watching!

  • @step2fiedler Vielen Dank, Stephan!

  • ,,,you're absolutely amazing, Merry Christmas!!!!

  • @SoSeventies Hey! Happy New Year :)

  • BACK AGAIN!! HOLIDAY FAVORITE !!!

  • @frododarg So, Merry Xmas! :)

  • Loved this song when I discoverred it on the juke box in my local back in 1982. Found the single in a second hand music shop in Newcastle in 1985. Still have it lurking somewhere in the cellar. Great bass work - I dont usually like Rickenbacker tone, but it works brilliantly - and thanks for posting it.

  • @spannaspanton Your comment makes me wonder too, that Chris' tone, although distinctively is a Rickenbacker tone... well not all Rickenbackers (or Rickenbacker players) sound like Chris. It has to do with his playing and with his own bass. Well, that may be subjective too :) Thanks for watching!

  • Just found out about this song recently. Very glad to see this put up. Thanks for posting and great job on the bass. And Merry Christmas, sir.

  • @bebopcola84 Merry Xmas, Joe. Thank you very much for writing!

  • Very nice but any chance of uploading the 'original'? I nearly bought the single when it came out after hearing it played once on radio 1. Yes, I think they only played this song once! It was the best Xmas song of the year and they completely ignored it! I couldn't find it in the record shops. Radio 1 really did suck!

  • @EeyoreTiggerPooh2 Hi I can't upload the original but I don't mind sending you the track! Just drop me a pm. Merry Xmas!

  • Very nice! Essentially a Yes Christmas song.

  • @Oniren91 Thank you! Merry Xmas :)

  • thanks !!! so nice !!!

  • @jalves3000 Obrigado! Um abraço e Feliz Natal!

  • @miguelbass Belo Rickenbaker!!! Parabéns e Ótimo Ano Novo!

  • Excellent song and well played, thanks for posting.

  • @mongo3163 Thank you very much!

  • It really ought to be a Christmas classic, 603mac

  • you sound like the great man himself well done

  • Happy Christmas Miguel - heard this today on the radio - what an under-rated track! I love it! Great bass.... !

  • @TheBeltane Thank you! And Happy New Year :)

  • very nice- so you use a sans amp - pick switch in treble position - what else can you recommend to get this great tone?

  • @MegaSteveish Very new strings! (I am planning to do some clips answering these technical details) Merry Xmas!

  • A rarely played joy. Thanks, Ken Bruce, for reminding me of it

  • @petechilcott That's where I first heard it last year! It is a Christmas classic is'nt it?

  • @petechilcott Thank you very much Pete. Merry Xmas.

  • Very well done!!

  • @sober8 Thanks :) Again Merry Xmas!

  • This needs re-releasing by Chris & Alan for everyone to discover all over again.

It just doesn't date, isn't religious and so, appeals to all and has a real feel-good factor to it.

  • @1957Lynz Agreed! Chris re-released it on the Swiss Choir CD!

  • This has been a long lost favourite of mine for years. So pleased to have "rediscovered" it again. Superb!

  • @aidoxl5 Thank you veru much for listening!

  • Now the season, Now the question

Time to breathe a moment's grace

For the Hunter and the Hunted

Taking time to break the pace

Are you hopeful? Are you haunted

  • @step2fiedler That's the spirit :) Thank you!

  • Nice one........

  • @603mac Thank you very much

  • give thumbs up!

  • @skintrade Thank you!!

  • Incredible job! One of my favorite Christmas songs of all time, and you do it wonderful justice with your playing and video montage. Love the snow fox photos...

  • @TheProgNerd Thank you very much! "Now the season" it's coming again :)

  • Excelente timbre de Rickenbacker!

    Qual Amp usa?

  • Hi there, great job! Could you tell me what amp did you use?

You really nailed Chris sound, great picking!

    Ludwig

  • @LudovicoAusiello Ludovico/Ludwig :) Here it was again the Sansamp.

  • Where did you get the notes?

But anyway the video is awesome!!! :)

  • @Ariuw I take the notes by ear :) Thanks for watching!

  • Where you got the notes?

But anyway the viseo is awesome!!! :)

  • I have always liked this song, but what you did with the video is awesome. Nice work Miguelbass!

  • @Stormcrow2012 Thank you! It was in a Xmas mood - glad you like it :)

  • @88sublunaire Salut -That was funny :)

  • My GOD, what a TONE!!! Only a Rick can bring such a great tone like this!

  • @nukebass :) Thanks! Glad you like it!

  • One of my fav's. Haven't heard it since the boxed set back in the early 90's. Thanks lots!

  • Cool way to add to one of my favorite "Yes" songs! Good work! :)

  • Nice work.

How do get your sound?Straight to amp(tube) or throught effects also.

    Squire is the man !

  • @yesman50 through the sansamp bass driver DI. No effects for this. Thanks!

  • Por favor solo oirlo. Es Run With the Fox de Alan White y Chris Squire.

  • Seeing you enjoy playing made me smile.. great job

  • @cholmes800 You're very welcome. Happy to know that. Thanks :)

  • this is a very good song!!! xd 5/5

  • @urquix Agree:) And thanks!

  • Excellent , really well done .

  • @gonightboat Thank you!

  • Great sound!

  • @johntitorsp Thank you very much!

  • Great Video. Mighty Fine Indeed.

  • thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!

  • Good Job perfectly played!

  • Thank you very much!

  • nice job Chris . !!! I mean.... Miguel !!!

    ;-)

  • Thanks! :)

  • Again - a GREAT video. The thing I like is hearing/watching you play you get an appreciation for the syncopation and placement of Chris's notes that would otherwise be hidden. Do you play with a band?

  • Hi , I play non-professionally , just for fun in a couple of local bands. Thank you for your comments. I hope that more people like you will get to understand Chris' work better. That's really my main purpose.

  • Nice fat tone, brother.

    Great job!

  • Thanks!!

  • Thank you. I'm a drummer myself, so naturally I have a ton of favored bass guitarists- Bootsy Collins, John Wetton, Tony Levin, Jaco, Pino Palladino, Entwistle, etc., but Chris has always been in my top five. His playing on "Relayer", "Tormato" & "Drama"- not my three favorite Yes albums to be sure- has always blown me away. Keep spreading the word! People will resond to good music if they are exposed to it!

  • British tradition is the 'Boxing Day FOX Hunt' - still goes on now where countryfolk either do a 'scent hunt' instead of the fox

  • Thanks for the info! That should put a lot of us in context now :)

  • Never heard this song before. Very nice. Who's playing the keyboards?

You play really well, BTW. Great job.

  • It's Chris Squire on the Keys, I think. Although it well could be Alan White... but I think it's Chris. Thanks!

  • Interesting. I didn't know Chris played keys at all. Cool.

BTW, I don't get what running with a fox has to do with Christmas. What's the connection or reference? Anyone know?

  • Chris played piano on Don't Kill the Whale (YES/Tormato) and Run Through The Light (YES/Drama). Check it out - the style of playing is close...banging the chords:) About the fox... I am not English but... maybe a traditional fox hunt? (see the lyrics - first verses). :)

  • was sung by Trevor Horn and Chris during the Drama Sessions

  • Miguel; A very young Squire's apprentice. Have you ever tried some of Drama songs ?

  • Hello my friend. You can find on my channel and audio cover of Tempus Fugit and a video clip of Machine Messiah. I hope you enjoy it. Saludos y muchas gracias.

  • Muchas gracias! Um abraço desde Portugal e Feliz Ano Novo!

  • Awesome song and great bass playing! You make me want to learn the bass.

  • I really wish you give it a try - starting on 2010?! Thanks and happy new year!

  • Best Christmas song ever. Good bass work.

  • Thank you very much! I agree :) Merry Xmas!

  • This should have been a huge Christmas song.

    Marvellous stuff.

    Cheers for that Miguel.

Merry Christmas to one and all!!!

  • Thank you very much for sharing the joy :) Merry Xmas!

  • THRILLED to find this. Love the song, love how you enhanced the bassline. Just great! Thank you.

  • Thank you very much!! Merry Xmas!

  • Your really good - I have been searching for this forever! Thanks :)

All I have is a tape version that I recorded off my speakers from the 80's!! Haahaha Would love to find this record.

  • There is a version (original plus choir) on Chris Squire's Swiss Choir CD :) Or you can find it on the YesYears box-set. Merry Xmas!

  • there is a 7" vinyl available on ebay

  • Hi there! A great job! This is my all time favourite Christmas song! I bought the 7" when it came out in 1981. Is it possible to put the song on its own on YouTube? Hope you have a great Christmas! xx

  • Hello... I think there would be problems posting the original recording only. Let me know if you need help finding it anywhere else. Merry Xmas!

  • Superb! Keep it up!

  • Thanks! :) I'll do my best - Merry Xmas!

  • Graham what show did you hear this song on. Sent an e-mail to Chris Evans a week ago requesting he plays it. Lets hope we hear more of it, along with another Christmas secret, Hymm by Barclay James Harvest

  • It was on Ken Bruce,s show yesterday...

  • Missed it again , Ah well theres allways I player

  • That's cool that you still have radio shows who will play this beautiful music! Merry Xmas.

  • Heard it for the first time on Radio 2 this morning...what a Christmas song should sound like..fab..

  • Wow :) Glad you found out this pearl - it's a great Xmas song really! Merry Xmas!

  • From a long-time Yes fan, Fantastic job! One of my all-time favorite Christmas songs. Great work on the Ric : )

  • Thank you very much! And Merry Xmas!

  • Thank you dear Paul! Just saw Yes in Germany. Wonderful concert!!! Merry Xmas ;)

  • Brings back many happy memories from the early 80's. Good work with that bass. Superb.

  • Thank you very much! Enjoy the season.. it's coming...

  • Intrepgun don't be insulting. It has a very British sound - see Miguel's comment. I'm patriotic - so what?

  • A true classic Christmas record, but as usual ignored by the radio and missed by the masses. First heard it in the 80's and could never get hold of it until You Tube. Any chance of getting the video that accompanied the record last year posted again.

  • Hi, I am not sure which video was it... but it's not mine... Hope you find it! Cheers!

  • Fantastic song - only the Brits can write this kind of stuff. Pure class!

  • Thanks for watching - I agree it sounds beautifully British :))

  • @miguelbass - many thanks for putting this little known christmas song on youtube. 1981, I remember it like it was yesterday.

Merry Christmas from England, and yes its raining outside.

  • everyone's parents shat out a child on some spot on the earth. "patriotism, sir, is the last resort of scoundrels."

  • ...I have to confess that this video is not only my favourite bass "session" on tube....this is always the favourite of my little son Francesco (3 years)....a little fan for you..thanks dear Miguel...

  • Thank you dear friend! And - Ciao Francesco! Best wishes from Portugal ;)

  • We only hope to meet you ... one day.

This could be a dream for me and my son Francesco.

    Some fans of yours.

    Dear friend.

    Obrigando per "sempre" Miguel.

This is the Christmas song of my familiy.

    Ric.

  • Nicely done!

    I love this xmas song.

I wish youtube didn't pull the original version.

  • Thank you Pete!

  • One of the best xmas songs ever

  • Sensacional, queria conseguir essa musica.

  • força aí! abraço.

  • that's cool!!!

  • thanks!

  • Christmas is early this year :) Miguel: You look lika ayoung man even you're 1/2 year older than I'm (and I'm the "Old fart"). I saw the sunlight at spring 1972. Could it be so that playing YES keeps you young ;)

Anyway my friend just came beck here in Ireland from Portugal. Gotta admit that I wanna visit there as well, maybe next spring/summer. Any places you could recommend..?

  • For sure as many as you would recommend to me if I were to visit your beautiful country. But if you'll come you will see something new for sure. I'll be glad to help. Thanks for (again) your support on my work!

  • Very good Miguel, fantastic bass line and you did a great job. Congratulations

  • Again thanks! :)

  • would really liketo hear (see) you do
