The Horse Stance is a training stance meant only to build muscle and stamina during training. It is Not a fighting stance. The big x thing was just sad. Stand with your feet 1 and a half shoulder widths apart, turn your toes inward slightly, squeeze in with your thighs, squeeze your butt in, back straight, head up, eyes open. Fatass.
you shit house jet li is a fucking actor where as bruce lee is a actor and a real martial arts legend as he is the only person in the world to get 9th dan in 14 months of traning
most people dont get black belt in that time they dont even get anywhere near black belt after 14 weeks of traning
you shit house jet li is a fucking actor where as bruce lee is a actor and a real martial arts legend as he is the only person in the world to get 9th dan in 14 months of traning
Hes also a bit fat, this may be a problem too.Usually ,in movies too,the karate is practiced buy skinny but ripped guys.Jackie Chan was skinny, but when he was tenses his muscles he was looking ripped
I have watched some of your videos and honestly you make many basic mistakes. Horse stance you have is not very good, your toes are out, your knees are not wide enough or low enough. Your center is high & your center is off. Anyone with any grappling skills will be able to move you & take you down very easily.
forget about fancy horse stances, of "moving the horse," fancy forms, pressure, locking, etc. All these will promote your mechanical aspects rather than help you. You will be bound by these unnatural rhythmic messes, and when you are in combat it is broken rhythm and timing you have to adjust to. The opponent is not going to do things rhythmically with you as you would do in practicing karate kata's or kung fu forms alone or with a partner.
the x block leaves you open for a sweep and highly unbalanced also in a fight the horse stance rom is compromised and your groin is wide open kata dont mean shit in a real fight
isn't the horse stance just used from training your leg muscles, and improving stability...can't really fight in a horse stance lol, it's hard to move
Lol. Well when I feel like learning karate. I'ma move to Japan and find the best Master b/c a street fighter is better than an Americanized Karate fighter. Btw I believe Brazilian Ju Jujitsu is overpopularized.
I'm two belts away from getting my black belt in youshukai karate international this may be some kind of karate I've never heard from but by what I saw I'm not at all in anyway impressed and thats not a horse stance its a pitiful shikodachi and the x block into it was useless its rarely ever called for it uses too much energy and isn't effective enough to really be worth doing nice try but you need alot of practice
Interesting comment. You're attacking one style of martial arts out of narcissism incognito. This makes me wonder who your Sensei is. Incidently, I'm 2 belts from being a first dan, myself. Also, know the difference between "ALOT" and the correct wording of "A LOT" . People might take you more seriously next time. lol.
good for you. I've been in Karate off and on for about 17 years, now. A few things have derailed me from achieving my Black Belt, but in time, I'll get it. Keep on going.
This is the kind of shit you get when you bring karate to the americas. Ugly uniforms, watered down quality of technique, and just "americanization," ugh!
Although there are a few good schools in north america, the majority is all mcdojos.
Karate is over popularized. I hope this guy can teach you karate tactics that can be modernized. Like instead of just going into a stance and waiting for an attack, look casual, wait for an attack, then block and stand and deflect.
The horse stance was used for traditional kung fu, but it's not practical for non-martial art opponents and fights.
Actually Karate has become less popular with the emergence of MMA, which usually is any combination of Wrestling, Boxing, Mauy Thai and Jui Jitsu. For some reason, Karate started to become looked at as a martial art which doesn't work.
That's true as it's true with any Martial...when it's used by itself. But as Lyoto Machida and his flawless MMA record show, Karate is a great base to have. Elusive, unorthodox, great striking. Overall, very effective stand-up. Got a bad wrap for no reason.
You can most definitely learn Karate Nongchok from videos. I have only watched literally three or four of these, maybe eight tops, and I almost killed someone the other day.
kids never take advice about asian martial arts from overweight people. it shows a severe lack of discipline in their training, which means a lack of good technique. And that was the highest horse stance ive ever seen, im not even sure it qualifies as a horse stance! and how off balance was he before he dropped into horse stance! the lower ur horse stance the stronger ur leg muscles will become making u more agile.
Excellent martial arts training video and loved the quality. I hope to mention this style of training to you. -After training in the various martial arts systems for over 22 years and thinking I had seen it all. I was extremely surprised to train with your martial arm product. It is truly excellent and proves once again simple ideas are the best. F.Barrasong Just search for The martial arm
It's a classic stance and is well established in Karate. Even if you don't agree with it's use and I'm no fan of it, his teaching of it is part of the overall learning process.
Thanks for this awesome video, my friend does Karate and he told me about this stance. I do it everyday now. When i begun i couldnt even hold on for 30 seconds, now I can hold on to this position for 5 mins and increasing. I am also about to join karate :D
come on people, I admire anyone who has pluck to post videos of themselves. Stances differ in all types of karate and other martial arts- I take shito-ryu karate, and my horse stance (shiko stance) is parallel to the ground, but it could be different in other styles. besides, this stance is mainly used in katas- ive never used it in sparring.
This seems to have a value when it comes to looking pretty and drawing in customers to join a class, but I cant see any practical combat value coming out of learning how to stand in a certain way. Or that you need to bring your arms up in a X over your face before you step into it. Squats, deadlifts, and power cleans all train the legs in a way specific for martial arts. Standing in a horse stance does not.
Well he didnt even go into the horse stance. It can train endurance whilst drilling punches just like a chair position and while dropping the hips further and further it can also help flexibility but...as a standalone exercise I dont see the point either.
This does not even have value for looking good, I can't imagine anyone not walking straight back out of this guys club, what is really worying is this guy is not even doing this for comedy value, I actually believe he thinks he is good, all of the red belts in my club would put this guy to shame!!!!!!!!!!
Umm, there is value in learning how to stand in a certain way. It doesn't matter what MA you are studying, but there are good stances and bad ones.
