so i just listened to the whole album, and it freakin sucks! complete lemon! its like they wanna be u2 now or somthing. its all just a bunch of noisy effects processing and trippy synth sounds with no purpose. sorta reminds me of common existance, except with less sincerity and a higher budget. these guys are totally my favorite band by the way, but this album and common existence both suck.

@Ismashguitars111 my ears are all the confirmation i need. whats cynical about it? they used to be a straight up good rock band, and now they think a bunch of synths and effects are cool. and they've adopted a completely new style. i understand they really wanted to try somthing different to suprise people, but why mess with a masterpeice? they were already good. all this U2 bullshit is lame, and you know it. dont jump to their defense just cus you like them. they are not infallible.

@DillonDemas The synths work well in the music. Much better than if Geoff was still screaming his head off. They haven't had a masterpiece since Full Collapse and that is debatable to begin with and I really can't see how you think this direction is a surprise as they've been heading this way since ACBTLD. I don't hear the U2, it isn't lame, and don't write off the band's newer material because it isn't like their older material. They have always had heart and they still have it.

It's chicks that make bands popular, and they usually like the band to look attractive -- doesn't mean that's all they care about, they do feel the music but it's like a huge bonus if a band looks energetic and confident. I know what I'm saying, I'm a musician and I'm starting to produce some stuff and I just realize that's the way it goes.

I like how each of their albums have a different feel and sound while still having that amazing, one-of-a-kind Thursday feel and sound. Sometimes I wonder what they would've done visually if they'd made a video for any song on 'Waiting'. Either way this video's great! Also, has anyone else noticed how they have some of the same (for lack of a better word) 'themes' in their songs (for example: trains, counting down from 5 to 1, cities on fire, cars/driving, etc.)? Damn, these guys are talented!

RHCP has mass appeal.Their songs are very 60ish, beatlish & classic rock influenced. Thursday started as a basement punk band and has grown and developed over the years and have been tagged with all kinda labels like post hardcore, screamo whatevs.Its all music & it appeals to different people.But dont go say a band isnt good when you arnt righting a song or an album.
