  • Thank you for the post , what a wonderful swinging and elegant pianist !

  • The most soulful jazz trio in my book

    thanks for posting

    Peace out

  • @Fjord76 This trio lifted Miles to his greatest heights in the 50s if you listen to "so what-- Live in NY" youll see what im talkin about.

  • Blindfolded I could have sworn that Mel Lewis was the drummer.

  • @BuckshotLaFunke thats a big insult for mr cobb. i believe some, including cobb, would put it more mildly

  • O my, what a rhythm section o p[lay with (or against). Thank God I don't blow a horn.

  • Wynton always sounds elegant to me. Like someone called him, "Wine-tone".

  • Also, you might want to try listening to the Wynton Kelly Trio with Wes Montgomery, the album entitled "Smokin' At The Half Note." Incredible!

  • go uncle wynton!

  • Wynton always sounds his best with Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb. Jimmy and Wynton and the anticipated downbeats...that trio has EARS! Thank you for this vid! joyeux noel

  • he is the best melody-line maker on a blues tune. Nobody can do better on up tempo jazz tunes.

  • Wynton Kelly?

I've played piano heavily now for 20 years. I aint ever a quarter to the level of Wynton

    Genius

  • wynton was awesome. Some pianist were critical because he lifted his pinky on his right hand,,which is supposed to be a no-no.Who cares, if you can play is what matters, and he could play

  • @dreadtodred Yes. Wynton had so much soul and personality in his playing. Ultimately, when I listen to people like him, Horace Silver and Monk, it's those qualities that move me. Anyone can develop 'good technique' but give me Wynton Kelly's music over any of the dextrous (but soulless) wonders.

  • @heru1966 right on!

    so true heru.right on.

  • I adore Wynton Kelly! My favorite recording of his is "Green Dolphin Street," which I found on CD in 1987 somewhere south of Frisco and north of San Jose.
