  • why isnt here yett? 3 years later wtf

  • This isn't new technology: Take any working steam locomotive, don't put fuel or water in it, just pump the boiler to full pressure with air, (there are many values to connect to, pick one.) Now, drive it down the tracks like normal. A late model mainline locomotive will have no trouble doing 20 miles with no modifications. If you want to get fancy you can take the fuel box out and put in a higher pressure boiler and you will have created a 1920 era mining locomotive.

  • hi i'm the guy who took a science guy. you must be the other guy.

  • I just wish they made these cars NORMAL LOOKING. I understand that they have to be lightweight, etc., but there's a line to be crossed. Those little boxy things aren't even safe on American roads. A strong storm blows through Florida and you're done for. You can't see out the back window, too many blind spots. Is there enough room for a car seat, or 2? Just pointing out the other reasons why these cars will never sell in the US.

  • @gladitsnotme It is a prototype. They aren't know for being well looking. Look at the electric cars of before, and the electric cars of today. Huge difference.

It's all about exploring the tech, pushing the limit and look to the future.

  • @henriko95 If that's what it's "all about", then there's no use in making them, since no one will buy. These things are supposed to replace current cars, to save the environment, etc. If engineers are just treating this as a play-toy project to kill time, they need to quit. Make a normal sized back window or GET OUT, I say.

  • Is there a hybrid version?

  • Comment removed

  • when is it going to be for sale?

  • If it's simple, I would think with some engineering and mechanical knowledge one could try to build it himself and see if it works. I don't want to hear about how green technology is a scam because oil and everything in the modern world is a scam. Don't get me started you naysaying anti-green technology smear campaignists! Air power, water power, hydrogen power, electric power, mind power, it's invented and waiting for us to awaken and use it. You can't keep me asleep. Stop being a tool.

  • @MrRyanGraham "I would think with some engineering and mechanical knowledge one could try to build it himself and see if it works."

So you are admitting you have zero engineering or mechanical knowledge, but you know this air car con is the answer. Based on what? Dowsing? Reality, compressed air is only used in specific niches where it's advantages over come the inefficiency. Transportation is not one of them a Lithium ion battery powered electric car aces it

  • yeah, why cant we invest in this. instead of all the oil?

  • @ConradMcBee Invest? you sure can, you can join all the other franchise holders who have been waiting for over 15 years for something, anything from MDI.

But before you do in the ONLY published test this piece of crap went five miles at the fat bloke on a bike.

Google rexresearch negre for a list of broken promises re production dates

or for a quiet laugh google e.volution south africa for another bunch of ripped of investors in 2001

  • Good idea, but compress the ai, put it in airtanks, and then put them into the car's tank uses 3 times more energy than simply put electricity into batteries, just as hydrogen does. Google it and you will find the numbers.

Its not a bad idea, but compressed air cars are not the solution for long term environmental plans.

See the wheel motor, by Pierre Couture, created in 1994.

  • yeah damn oil companies will see this as a threat and buy them out.... Hey we will give u 1 billion dollars if you give us the rights to take over and make these cars...... they buy and throw away the designs...

  • "damn oil companies will see this as a threat and buy them out"

Nope It's a short range, long running CON, and no better than airs built back in the 1900's

It is just designed to get money from technically illiterate investors as it has done for over a decade.

  • I would rather buy one of these baby's than pay Al Gore's stupid ass carbon tax. Why do they hide this from Americans anyway ?

  • @wingnut4427

Oil Companies my friend. They say Tobacco companies own the world... No, I don think so. Oil Companies do. Black gold makes up a huge part of the economy of most countries.

  • I'm in line to buy two or more.

  • All of you talking about how this is useless because the compressor uses gas.. It uses ALOT less gas than driving 200km!

  • Hydrogens the way to go

  • wants one!

  • I hate when people say "too good to be true"

  • "Too good to be true" = "technology exists already but is surpressed by oil companies"

  • kind of like the carburetor that was invented back in the 20's that could get a car 120 mpg but was suppressed by big oil. They killed the guy who invented it & stole the technology. The only reason people know about it is because of insiders who leaked the info.

  • @wingnut4427 -hahaha - boy that is one of the most famous urban myths going. And you believe it!

  • hahaha ? ok smart guy.. Look up patent # 4,177,779

Go ahead ! Google it ! Click on the 1st link. By the way I didn't mean to type 20's in My 1st comment. I just realized my mistake.

  • @wingnut4427 - I think we have our wires crossed. I assume you have removed your original comment. That patent isn't for a carburettor as per your original comment.

The stoichiometric ratio of fuel to air cannot be altered. Lean burn does not allow 100miles per gallon.

  • @junkshopfilms To store 14.3 kWh at 300 bar in 300 l (90 m3 at 1 bar) reservoirs, u need at least 93 kWh on the compressor side (and 14.3 kWh is the energy equivalent of less than 1 l of gasoline): Hahahahah!!

Tell me, what does a mentally challenged person like you think about who or how the air is compressed in the first place???? Hahahaha, does it happen automatically??? Is it pure magic??? Yiipppiiieehh: The world full of fools!!

  • @junkshopfilms "too good to be true" = Designed to rip off technically illiterate fools

  • @fizzguts yeah that is why its backed by tata with owns all British car companies etc etc...go check the stock for tata.. its worth more than your house and your opinion combined.

  • @timemastro Tata have stated they WILL NOT be using the technology as it is "undeveloped" Yeah right. 6hp and a 5 mile range. They got suckered for their $200,000 And NO they never spent any more than that with the lying creeps at MDI

  • I hate it when scamming arsewipes who have been taking money from suckers since the 1990's ($13Million), have never had any vehicle independently tested and their only published test result was 7.2km at bicycling speed get posted as a youtube video by technically illiterate happy clappies

  • theres also a guy whos developed ultra light carbon frames which are stronger then steel the only problem is pruducing the frames which he is working on now i think these 2 technologies would be revolutionary

  • This report from the BBC is interesting. CNN says the car will be built in each country it is sold. But this report from the BBC says that the company has an Indian backer and will be built solely in India. So who is telling the truth? In the CNN report there were a bunch of Japanese getting ready to build the car in Japan for the Japanese market!

  • Forget the oil/gas companies, we need this now. Who cares what it looks like. But since there are alot of people who do care what they look like. Remake old cars like chevy's and etc. So people can ride the same as they do now just eco-friendly. & Sale it for like 100 dollars.

  • Sign me up for one!

  • yay eco thing

  • This is a savage car! ! ! I'm getting one when they come out!

  • cool idea but the car is too ugly.

  • bigger car companies would catch on to it and make new designs

  • yea but dont you have to put gas in the air compresers

  • No, the air IS the gas. Given that the electricity is from an environmentaly sound source the process is totally free from any form of polution. The exeption being, of course, the production stage of both the car and the compressor. As far as I know, that stage of the automobile industry has, surprisingly, always been the most polutive... It's been said that you can never run a car far enough to even come close to the polution that has been let out during production.

  • no like when you fill up with the air. the thing you put in the gas tank. You know an air compresor runs on gas

  • Air compressors run on electricity too, you won't have a gas tank anymore. They're also developing the air compressor in the car to charge itself with the air it takes in, so that you will never have to fill anything up at all, and therefore not have to use electricity either.

  • So wait a minute. The air is compressed in a compressor that runs off the exhaust from the car, and that will make enough to to run the car.

So what about the energy lost through friction, in the bearing, from the tires, from air resistance?

Any time someone says "perpetual motion", you know thay are giving you a line of crap.

  • :O where's the catch?

  • just wait until you are near a free air compression thing and then it cost NOTHING! unles you do wit is max 1.50 lolz

  • The last comment of course is refered to

    "flameded"

  • i think they should also add in air cars, is that when you drive you should be able to gather air from the wind to the car to be compressed too!

  • I dont give a shit about global warming.

I am tired of using Gas, PERIOD.

And I am damn well tired of paying for the gas.

  • what ever, mock up or not, it is about time someone showed the oil countries they can not blackmail us forever with the oil, so I say yippee, they will lose billions.

  • @willcsaintenay you really think its the oil countries doing ther blackmailing??? Look harder!!!

  • fuck global warming

the world has been cold, it has been hot.

it will get hotter and it will get colder

if your concerned about having too much flop sweat, and your backyard garden not growing tomatoes, then move to alaska.

i don't think its that hot there is it?

  • global warming effects are much greater than simply making it a bit hotter outside. good job on an argument though....

  • damn those indians are making a mockery of america, really.

  • ...and how much energy is used to compress the air in the first place?

..and what type of fuel is compressing the air?

    I thought so.

  • Wow, just wow. Seriuously... are you just stupid or something?

  • You're a stumbleupon visitor, right?

  • I don't know about anybody else but I am :D

  • this is the average quality of youtube discussion. If you're looking for intelligence, you came to exactly the wrong place.

  • Hey I am!!

  • me too. Interesting though

  • you're a moron

  • I'm not gonna lie, I'm not sure how much energy is used.

That being said, I do know that electricity is used most often and that it gives off far less (if any) waste than gasoline.

  • No No No Lol

The air goes into a tank that compresses the air when you close the door. When the air goes it its automaticallly compressed because theres so much air in such little space.

Lol it's really simple when you think about it

  • if i can build this car and give it for free i would, it causes less global warming

  • this is a GREAT start to weaning our planet off the petro bottle.

in return, as a gesture of good faith, i dub this chariot of freedom the "CAIR CAR".

all royalty cheques are donated to the BINARY ECONOMICS employee stock option plan/e.s.o.p.

    ~word~

  • That looks absolutely amazing, I'm excited for the CDN models if Canada ever gets these!

  • thats cool

  • Cool? (Y)

  • I know that voice! Natasha Stillwell!

  • no im an american and we are stupid.A the world environment metting a few months ago we were one of ther countries that voted against alternative sources for fuel and power

  • ZOMG AIR CAR!! and H2O car havent been out yet in market yet! wow

  • whoa

    that is amazing

i hope we get those in north americathey are so cheap to

  • Fuel economy, alas. It's got to be _very_ light, areodynamic, yet still carry 2-4 people.

I don't mind the look myself (I ride motorcycles - who cares what cars look like?), but I understand the need for some style, and it'd be nice if the makers of eco-friendly cars realized that!

  • Theres many light areodynamic cars with nice style, but that things a fricken box, if you maybe put that techonology in a car i wouldnt hate, id buy that...

  • Guys, thats just a mock up, to show the technology, the aerodynamic adjustments are done lather on...

I really hope it is a mock up..

  • it is not a mock up.... geez..

  • man i would gut that car and put the motor into another car as long as im not paying for gas..lol

  • This would work well in warm environments too. The decompressing air would provide a means of cooling the cars interior. Just use old style vents on the car and have it routed around the tank.

  • Non-polluting? How is the air magically compressed? I can't imagine pumping up that car using a service station air compressor that can barely fill my car tires up to the required pressure. I am sure gas station owners will be really impressed to see these cars roll up to leach off of them.

  • Imagine filling a balloon and then letting the air out slowly to turn a propellor. That's what runs the car, but on a much more powerful scale.

As for how much air, it requires electric powered compression into a metal tank, but since electricity can be produced cleanly (hydroelectric, geothermal, solar, wind, nuclear) there's little or no pollution.

  • now if they could put mini compressor on each spindle of the wheel to act as brakes when slowing down are braking to recharge the the air tank
