  • "They don't pay a lower statutory rate" Compared to pre 1920, no they don't. It's much higher.

  • Blaming the rich for paying what they legally have to pay is like blaming the poor for being on food stamps. "fair" is subjective. What you or I think is fair will differ, the difference being, I don't think the Government should decide what is fair and then use force to make people comply. I think people will help others, as we saw pre 1920. As your examples show, the Government isn't very good at deciding "fair" either. Wealth is not created by dividing it.

  • I agree about the bail outs. They should have been left to fail. A correction was needed.

  • That's because of the way the Government sets up the tax code. Tax on dividends is lower than tax on income. Not to mention the tax breaks and regulations for specific (usually campaign contributing) corporation. I never said they should get tax cuts. I was commenting on historical tax rates and there relation to philanthropy. If you have an issue it should be with Government. I favour low taxation for everyone, not just those close to Government, but this would require massive spending cuts.

  • Andrew Carnegie is another example or pre income tax philanthropy. He gave $350 million ($7 billion in todays dollars) in 1901.

  • This reminds me of that movie Idiocracy.

  • In past generations American millionaires and billionaires used to donate money to homeless shelters or spend money on building libraries or museums or huge public murals of art.

Now our millionaires and billionaires bet tens of millions of dollars on sports games or buy their little brats toys that cost hundreds of thousands, or buy dog houses for their dogs the size of upper middle class family homes......

  • @A86 Yeah, they used to do that when income taxes were much lower. I'd say that has something to do with it.

  • @nernada - Lower? This is the lowest income taxes on the rich have been since the 1800s. Taxes on them were much higher from the 1920s to 1980s. Particularly the effective tax rate.

  • @A86 I should have been more specific. Most of those high taxes were a result of wars. I was meaning pre ww1. Which is when most of the rich people did give alot more. Rockerfeller is a perfect example. Most of his philanthropy was pre 1918 as with most. They used to give, you're right, now it is taken. Personally I don't care what people do with their own money. That's their business. I try not to be envious.

  • @nernada - It's not about envy, it's about the rich paying their fair share (and the fact that a lot of the rich today are being enriched by screwing over everyone else, such as jobs being sent overseas and wages not raising while shareholders and managers give themselves a pay raise every year). In the 1910s and 20s even though the statutory tax rate was lower the rich paid more taxes in effective rates and as a % of the GDP. Now they have a low statutory rate and even lower effective rate.

  • @A86 What's fair is subjective. The top 10% of earners in America pay over 70% of income tax revenue. They paid more as a % of GDP, but that is because they were the only ones paying income tax, most people didn't. They don't pay a lower statutory rate/lower effective rate than pre 1920 that just isn't true. From the 30's-80's that is true. Jobs moved overseas because of lower taxation and compliance rates, in effect it followed the capital. Capital moved from America because of monetary policy.

  • @nernada - Not really. The top 10% earn over 80% of America's income, they should pay over 80% of its taxes. That figure you threw out is only what they pay of the federal income tax, not all taxes in general. The middle-class pays the vast majority of all federal taxes combined (when you add in the federal payroll taxes and other federal taxes), about 2/3 of federal taxes. Despite the fact the middle class owns less than 30% of America's income.

  • @nernada - "but that is because they were the only ones paying income tax"

Actually that was the bottom 50% not paying the federal income tax, due to the EITC which exempts the poorest Americans from the federal income tax.

  • @nernada - "They don't pay a lower statutory rate"

Really? People like Warren Buffet pay less than 20% taxes on their income. The average middle-class American pays 30-60% taxes on their income. It gets even worse when you look at corporate income, dividend and capital gains taxes. Even worse when you factor in the percentage of the net worth of the average millionaire/billionaire that is not taxed as income or is completely non-taxable (like a lot of Mitt Romney's money).

  • @nernada - The average corporation or rich person pays lower tax rates than the average middle-class American, which makes no rational sense. Especially in light of the fact they aren't creating domestic jobs. Why should someone deserve more tax cuts for not creating jobs and deserve bailouts and golden parachutes for being crappy managers and crashing the company into the ground?

  • Pure 'frontin'. As if this nobody actually has the money to bet like that.

  • Just from the picture icon of this video alone, disgusts me some one like that would even have 5 million dollars -_-

  • that's like one of us betting 5 bucks on the Superbowl. it's nothing to them.

  • Rich People always laughing at us!!

  • All I have to say is......."Tax The Rich"

    lol

  • Kill the rich?

    Kill the rich.

  • 0:17)

Why does this BURD man have a missing finger??

Why do fuck-tards do the ganster rapper murderer rapist sign? I mean, what- ? does it make you look badder? Meaner? More versatile in the sign language department? Naaah, it makes ya look like a spastic.

Especially when white people start mimmicing blacks doing that spazoid thing with the hands. Now that's! sad.

People! Stop wanting to look like a spaz having a seizure. You look dumb! PLus, you're cloning another dumbass.

  • Greenbay Packers sounds like a manufacturing company. Of all the names, they chose that.....heh

  • Since I can't be filthy rich, I'll settle for just being filthy.

  • That 5 million dollars can go some where constructive Some more money being wasted

  • The Young Turks are a joke!

  • Ana's face at the end, fucking priceless.

  • who cares...next

  • what most fools dont knw is these guys have top notch business managers. they not spending money in thy bank account, they spending money thats excess. thy dont give a fuck if thy loose that money. the real shit chilling in the bank

  • baby still kissing wayne on the lips.. closet ass niggas

  • It's not like his friends are poor. He has rich-ass rapper friends.

  • A fool and his money are soon parted.

  • I would much rather have stupid millionaires than smart millionaires who know how to stay rich. Think of all of the money stupid rich people pump into the economy when they mindlessly spend.

  • @NCSportsMan70 I agree, but these guys are buying luxury items, spending it abroad and gambling (sometimes in casinos). It's not like this money's going to trickle down to the rest of society so directly.

  • @NCSportsMan70 all that money goes to european fashion labels and local jewelery stores...nothing trickles down to the people LOL

  • @ProductionMarx Not "all of the money." Besides, when it goes to a local jewelry store it does trickle down.

  • Comment removed

  • @NCSportsMan70 It goes to the smart millionaires though.

  • @NCSportsMan70 The fuck? Smart millionaires are arguably the largest source of job creation.

  • @XpEAnUTBuTtERsUckSX Ohhh, you mean like Mitt Romney? smh

  • @XpEAnUTBuTtERsUckSX Ohhh, you mean like Mitt Romney? smh

  • @NCSportsMan70 TRUE

  • Looks Just like the Co-anchor (the girl)

    redtubecom/59283

  • Look at the thumbnail, they're both GAY

  • R.I.p tupac shakur the real fans of him who read this will no why I put this. Peace

  • niggas is starving out here and dying of hunger and hes bettin on football games was wrong with this man

  • @RozayRaw With the way the world is changing they won't be hungry long!

  • @RozayRaw

Nuttin, he be havin fun yo. Keepin it real.

  • HABEAS CORPUS HARVEY ATTORNEYYYYYY

  • "I don't know whether to hate these guys or love these guys"

'Hate it or love it the under dog's on top...'

  • It's even happening in the entertainment stories too. STOP INTERRUPTING ANA, CENK! Disagree with her? Explain afterwards and let her make her point. He doesn't take her seriously.

  • I can only affort to bet $5

  • @BamBooUK can i borrow $2.50 of that $5

  • waste of money. use it for things like charity and setting you and your family up for life.

  • Wow Cenk, thanks for supporting the Republicans with this vid, you fucking asshole. Oh wait, its ok to be envious of the rich, if they are black guys? Seriously FUCK YOU

  • @DaytonaRoadster no racist. It is if they are rappers. Not black guys like your herman cain.

  • @DaytonaRoadster What are you talking about. Cenk has ALWAYS said it's ok to want to be rich, he believes in capitalism! And if you've been watching TYT as long as I have (ie. since right before Jill left) then you'd know that Cenk has ALWAYS been envious of the rich.

  • So who are these Birdman, Little Wayne and Fifty Cent their refering to?

  • *racist statement removed*

  • Dolla dolla bills y'all!

  • TAX THE RICH!

  • birdman was a father figure to lil wayne, not just a friend

  • @penguinsoulja96 awww..ain't that sweet...I guess birdman's father kissed him on the lips too XD

  • @penguinsoulja96 - I suspect Birdman is Lil' Pain's lover, not just a father figure.

  • @penguinsoulja96 he also kisses him in his mouth their rumors that he also molested him as a kid after coming out of jail I find that odd he and little wayne are down low period!!!

  • All I gotta say to this is "Go Giants".

  • He should be using that "betting" money on something positive. Like community after school programs. When you see Justin Bieber rolling a brand new Lamborghini. There is a problem...These people have WAY to much money!!! They need to be taxed 30%

  • @clipsryan: We all do this everyday. We all bet money on frivolous things that we don't need while people starve. He earned his money he can spend it anyway he likes. I care more about the people on WS who got their money screwing over their shareholders. These stories are just gratuitous and stupid. Yes we're jealous they get to waste such large amounts of money, but that's our problem not theirs, lets talk about the real issues.

  • @Grissletoe1 Well said my friend, well said!

  • Just give me the $5 million! Hahaha. That's crazy to bet millions on a game when their fellow citizens are suffering. Higher taxes on the rich

  • Kill the rich!!!

  • @KlipKultur5 i got an even better idea... KILL EVERYONE!

  • Why bother taxing the rich if they do stuff like this!

"A fool and his money are soon parted."

  • @Lyiad You do realize that this guy owns arguably one of the most successful record labels in the recording industry that's been going 10+ years strong right? He obviously can't be that much of a fool.....

  • just want to say I'm really tired of people saying "literally" all the time when it's not needed.

    "I literally at a sandwich"

Or I could just say "I ate a sandwich"

The guy "literally" sent out a tweet----why not just say "he sent out a tweet." It's pretty obvious you're talking about something that really happened-------I mean literally.

  • Harvey Birdman?

  • Tax the Rich

  • Hence the reason I ignore these dicks and will never play their music in a club.

These pricks are supposedly working class. A real working class boy never wastes money. If you're gonna throw money at summat, do summat that will help your community.

KRS-One managed to retain his roots. So did Chuck D.

In fact why don't you give a million to Kool Herc who you and the entire club scene owes its wealth to.

  • Man, people get so envious of these guys. Fantastic, you can buy anything you want, except for things that can't be bought. I'd enjoy catching a big financial break and being able to afford to pay my bills and eat, buy guitars, amplifiers, a house on some nice land, a firmer mattress, some toys and guns etc., and have the security of never going broke. Beyond that money is useless. I have a lipoma growing right on my sciatic nerve. I'd rather have it disappear today than win a trillion dollars.

  • @AdamRainStopper but if you had a trillion dollars someone would make it go away

  • @coldkurt Yeah, I am going to have to have it surgically removed, and all the money in the world wouldn't fix that. It's there, the only ways of removing it are surgical, and that's it. I meant that I would gladly hand over the trillion dollars to anyone who could do something instant to make it disintegrate. I don't want to be in excruciating pain while I wait for surgery, and I don't do general anesthesia if I can avoid it, but the local numbing method I have chosen will cause extreme anxiety.

  • There are children starving everywhere and this clown is betting 5 million dollars on a team? Sad indeed.

  • I hate them and hope they die a lonely broke life.

  • the fucking asshole that brought us lil wayne....great.

  • that's what money is like...

  • BIRDMAN has hade the game locked down for so long keep it upp with the mula!

  • Guys are not like girls we don't not think shit thru like that, I somebody gives a million to someone im still just giving him a pat on the back lol

  • Birdman is lil Waynes DAD

  • @chrisfrom714 they know nothing about the hip-hop/rap

  • "who wouldnt wanne be these guys?" i'd love to be filthy rich, but i'd prefer that without being retarded

  • @brotmann86 exactly, Birdman and all all hip-hop moguls just happened to stumble into their money. Their wealth has nothing to do with business savvy, or being pop-culture visionaries. Its not like they were born with $0 dollars into single parent households

  • @TheInsurgencyChannel COMPLETELY incorrect! First of all, BOTH of Birdman's parents died when he was young. Secondly, Birdman & his brother Slim built their label Cash Money Records OFF THE GROUND! They nabbed a deal with Universal in the late '90s off the strength of the popularity of their music and have continued to grow since. If they weren't business savvy or pop-culture visionaries, then why is YMCMB one of the most recognized and successful labels in the game now?

  • @TheInsurgencyChannel And to say "all all hip-hop moguls just happened to stumble into their money." is probably the most ignorant thing I've ever heard. Sure, maybe SOME of them "stumbled into their money", but MOST of them have been working hard LONG before they became famous to acquire the wealth they have. Lil Wayne made his first album when he was 11 (the BGz, a duo album with Cash Money alumnus BG; google it). Lil Wayne turns 30 this year.

  • @brotmann86

Have you ever tried being retarded without being rich?

It's frustrating, no one pays attention to you

  • At this rate after the middle and lower class all got drained out only one staying top of the heap of broken bodies will be the ungraceful riches like these guys.

They'll laugh, they'll mock, and they'll have no pity.

But maybe. Just maybe when we get fed up enough... we'll bite back. Have our little own French Revolution of 1789

Love live USA that was once the land of equal opportunities

  • If I were rich, I'd spend money on a large plot of land near a river or creek and build a self sustaining farm; regardless of the price. Everything electric; solar, turbine, wind, etc. I'd sit back and sell cheap goods to the community. Take volunteers to work for even more reduced prices. Build a nice house for all my family and friends, and cut myself off from the rest of this shitty world. Like Amish, but with the benefits of electricity.

  • @OtakuRebel I got almost the same plan except I'd sell all my entirely organic, naturally farmed products at normal prices and use the money to fund my cybernetics research so I can create the matrix.

  • BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRD-MAAAAAAAAAAAAN!

  • "A gentleman that calls himself The Birdman." lol

Who's a bigger freak, Rapper The Birdman or basketball player The Birdman.

  • thats an easy bet

  • Tax the fucking rich now!

  • Cenk keeps it so real. I agree, tax the richest, but I wish I could bet $5mill!! And does Ana really not know who "Birdman" is?

  • This is why capitalism sucks shit. :D

  • The most I bet during the Super Bowl is $40 from my dad....and I win.

  • Wait. So why are you all mad again? ROFL

  • @crowman1979 You think? Maybe...Time will tell.

  • @NanoHorizon Sure looks like they're winning to me. Why would they be dead or in the streets is five years?
