i love the hand to hand combat in this what total war last so very much i love the mad moves they pull off to kill eachoher this guy was going for a chops like an axe but with a spear this other guy has a billhawk blocks the attack smashes the guys spear out of his hands and slices down his sspine

Amazing very nice, also probably the best game ever! on pc. I personally would like to change the in game music because after so many tries with the Byzantine long campaign and still not completed the background music is starting to get a bit non-exciting if you know what I mean.

I'd say medieval has more variation in the advancement and variation of tactics. In Rome you get the same old ancient warfare which isn't bad but it's more of the same again and again. Empires is the same, line up riflemen, shoot at each other.

With medieval you see a much bigger change in how you play once gunpowder is introduced. You have a little bit of both, a hybrid mix matched. Plus there are already many well established mods for medieval 2 like Broken crescent and Stainless steel

Replays in medieval just don't work with me. It seems that the game doesn't record the battle, only the orders you've given. I recorded a battle where I won vs the french, in the replay I lost...

Still, medieval is a rly cool game.

Do you have the expansion pack? It's called Medieval 2: Total War: Kingdoms and features 4 new camapaigns including the America Campaign that features the Aztecs and other Native American Factions.

lol, you don't need kindoms for aztecs

At a certain turn number you get message "a new world was discovered" from that moment you can go with yur boats to the new world

if you don't play with cheats like me and play grand campain, you will certainly meet them before the end of the game :P or else just continue a bit killing everyone left

you don't even have to do that. doesn't quite matter if you completed the game, after some turns (i think 200 or smthing) the left part of the map open and you can take ships to america (i repeat does not require expansion pack) and you can take only some races i think british spain french and portugese with ships to explore (and battle of course)

I sort of agree with you there, Meirstein. While R:TW and M2:TW consentrated more on the brutal combat, M:TW, I think, seemed a bit more political than anything, which is one of the reaons I like it.

I know that not many people are going to like this, but I think that the original Medieval Total War was the best in the series. Medieval 2 and Rome are great, but I just think that the first Medieval was the easiest to understand and the most fun to play. You started out being able to be every country and the battles were really fun, if a little cheap at times.

I agree with you that MTW is more political than M2TW. But i dont agree with you on RTW. The change in political between RTW and MTW is far greater than RTW and M2TW. I think that M2TW is only bettered on the battles compared with RTW. Political it is the same. MTW is the same political system than STW. So STW and RTW are the best in the TWserie at my opinion.

But M2TW is too cruel to dont play it. I keep playing it. But keep in mind that the political havent changed a bit

probably because you're computer is too 'soft'...there's many videos of battles on youtube made by ordinary players, and these battles are as realistic as the trailers...

You can get to the New world ( The Americas) in the original game, however in Kingdoms (The expansion pack) it is greatly expanded so such a existent.

In the original, you can visit Cuba, a small sliver of Brazil, a few places in Mexico and Ceterial America, a bit of Texas, Florida and a little into South Carolina.

In the expansion pack, you can visit Mexico, as far south as the Yucatán Peninsula, and as far north as Oklahoma, with bits of New Mexico, and Arizona. All connectedplussCuba

you have to use stratagy in medieval to win, spartans dosent exist cause they were conquered by byzantine, or anichent roman, and phalanxes.. well theres spear wall :P

well duh spartans exsisted in about ehhh 200bc. before that was when xerxes challenged the city of Sparta after they formed a confederacy like america did in 1861. They called them selfs the Greek Cities because they were all seperate then Rome owned there asses.

LordJudgement1818...u will have to uninstall it and delete it totally from the registry (goto start, run and type regedit...delete the registry files for medieval total war).

Do a fresh install and then install Kingdoms. No patch. Kingdoms will update the original game to the correct version.
